so last week the nurse called me and told me I needed to go in for my glucose test that week or following week. I questioned if she had the right information because I'm only 14 weeks and that last time I took it around 26/28 weeks? She said it was correct but wasn't sure why I had to go so early. I asked if it was because I'm overweight and she still didn't know....
but this drink is just so sweet! I think I preferred the orange one I had with my last pregnancy!
I had to do it early because of my weight. I'll also have to do it again at the time where people normally have it.
That's what I'm thinking... but I wish they would have just told me that! The doctor was supposed to call me to tell me why but I never heard from him.
Weird cause I am also over weight and my doctor told me not until the normal 26/28 weeks but by blood work is always spot on so maybe he saw a slightly high blood sugar when u did blood work? I do mine at the office where my doctor so if that is an option to you I would ask if they could get him to see why
I have to take it in a few weeks (1/26) due to previous GD diagnoses.
I wouldn't think it would be simply because you are overweight. As you know in our last BMB lots of women were overweight and didn't have GD or test early, and two women who did cross fit and worked out daily did have GD.
I agree with @amberp1528, maybe when they did your first tri blood work there was an elevated blood sugar or something. I'd hate to think it's only because of weight.
I think it just varies by doctor and how much emphasis they put on your starting weight. My doctor focuses a lot on weight, even if all your other body signs are healthy, so they do the test early no matter what. I hadn't even had bloodwork done and they told me I automatically had to have an early test because I'm classified as "obese" on the BMI scale.
I think my next appointment is next week, last appointment he went over all my blood work and said everything cane back great... last pregnancy I didn't have GD.
I had to do it at 9 weeks because my last baby was over 9lbs. I'll also have to do it at the normal time. Yay get to drink the crap twice I was so thrilled
Like @JennMof3 I had to do it earlier and twice my last pregnancy because my first baby was over 9lbs. My second baby was over 10lbs, so I'll also be doing it soon.
It also could depend on when he was born, so if he was born a week or two early, he could have been considered "large for gestational age". I also just googled, and it looks like different doctors have different thresholds for "large baby" and 8lbs 13oz is the low end, so maybe your doctor uses that as their "large baby" indicator.
My starting weight was the same last pregnancy and this one. This pregnancy I switched practices and they had me do a glucose test around 9 weeks and the nurse told me it was because of my bmi. I'll do a second test later on at the regular time.

I switched practices too, I'm sure it's because of my weight and bmi.... I'm not looking forward to another test at the regular time!
I had to do the glucose early too (16w) despite not having GD with DD. I asked my doctor why and her response was to make sure I haven't started developing GD. I assume it's because I am overweight, even though I had great blood pressure and passed the glucose test with DD. And I still have to take it again at 28 weeks.
Have you been doing urine tests at your appointments? Perhaps there was glucose in your urine so they're doing testing early to diagnose GD as early as they can, if you have it? I'm requesting mine early because my body hasn't been tolerating sugar well at all this pregnancy!

Yes they've been checking my urine and last time it was scary dark and I don't even know why because I had already drank 32+ oz by my appointment and s ton the days before!
I took it 2 weeks ago at 13 weeks. Sadly I got a call saying I might have GD. My number was 136. They had me take it so soon because of my weight and it runs in my family.
