Re: GTKY: Christmas Recap
What was your favorite gift you received? I got a rose gold Michael Kors watch
Favorite moment from the holiday weekend? Felt the baby kick for the first time on Friday & then throughout the whole rest of the weekend!
Best thing you ate? Can everything be an answer? I love food. I don't discriminate.
Anything else memorable? Gave my mom a personalized ornament with six "stockings" each labeled with our name or title (my mom was grandma, and then the baby of course). That was her first grandparent gift so it was nice.
Favorite moment from the holiday weekend? baby was kicking/moving hard enough to actually see just by looking at my belly, so Fiance and I just laid in bed watching the kicks for a couple minutes
Best thing you ate? homemade Milk Chocolate Florentine Cookies
Anything else memorable? it was so awesome this year with DD being 3. She really got into it, and then just seeing her play and have fun all weekend was the best! I got a little sad that next year it won't be our Family of Three
What was your favorite gift you received? Roomba! Omg, I am so excited. Our whole downstairs is tile so it constantly feels like crumbs and dust are scattering everywhere. The dog barks and attacks the vacuum whenever I use it, so it does not get used as often as I'd like. So far he seems to like "Jetson" and wags his tail as it does its thing. I also got some adorable baby stuff like a Kate Spade diaper bag, Fox burp cloths, A fox hat, and cute clothes.
Favorite moment from the holiday weekend? I was a bit of a grinch up until Christmas day. We spent Friday/ Saturday car shopping for me and I was getting very discouraged and cranky. Christmas Day was so nice though as I got to snuggle my baby niece, hear the 2.5 year old niece say "will you come play with me?", and just spend time with everyone.
Best thing you ate? Mmm, I always like Christmas morning breakfasdt of egg bake and monkey bread. The sweet potatoes with apples I typically make for dinner were my favorite though.
Anything else memorable? Not especially. Just feeling grateful for my H, family, and feeling super excited for baby.

What was your favorite gift you received?
-DH got me the first couple of pieces for the willow tree nativity set which I am super excited for. He's excited because now he has a present he can get me every year as he adds on to it.
Favorite moment from the holiday weekend?
- DD came out from the bedroom and was surprised by the present she but then she saw her kitchen in the corner and lit up and just kept saying wow. It was pretty cute
Best thing you ate?
- we had some pretty good ham on Christmas Eve
Anything else memorable?
- I love watching DD get more excited to the holidays as she gets older. It gives them such a different feel.
We agreed not to get each other gifts since we're under contract for a house and that alone is an amazing gift to ourselves. Closing in 3 weeks!
Favorite moment from the holiday weekend?
Seeing DD find her brand new kitchen first thing on xmas morning and playing with it on and off ever since. She just "made me" a bowl of cereal with a cup of milk before her naptime.
Best thing you ate?
Apple pie. And sparkling cider. Nommm
Anything else memorable?
None really. I'm just anxious to create new memories in our new home! This is not necessarily memorable but we have been binge-watching Homeland every night
What was your favorite gift you received? a new housecoat from my husband. I picked it out at Nordstrom and it is the softest, most comfy housecoat in the whole wide world. I've been staying in the house so I don't have to take it off and get dressed.
Favorite moment from the holiday weekend? just spending time with family. We had great visits with both mine and my husband's sides.
Best thing you ate? I don't generally love turkey but my SIL made one that was so juicy o couldn't stop eating it.
Anything else memorable? watching the nieces and nephews opening presents. A lot of them are at an age where they are too old for kiddie stuff but too young for older kid stuff so I was a little nervous about how our presents would be received. They loved everything! I was so excited for them
ETA fixed sloppy grammar.
Favorite moment: 3yo DD was so awesome opening gifts. She promptly thanked the giver and was so excited to receive everything, even clothes. While unwrapping a plain shirt box, before she knew what was in it, she exclaimed, "It's adorable!"
Best thing ate: I ate so many sweets. It was so good. Now to get back on track eating healthy.
Memorable moments: This was the first time my parents came to us for Christmas. It was awesome Phoenix weather. The windows were open and it was sunny. And I got to spend an entire day baking with my mom, which hasn't happened since maybe my high school days.

Favorite moment from the holiday weekend? DD running around my in laws house with pajamas laughing and screaming and watching QVC fail videos with my brother, dad and DH, laughed so hard I almost pee'd.
Best thing you ate? Hands down my mother's bacon-wrapped, cream cheese stuffed jalapeños
Anything else memorable? DD stealing my SIL's bacon out of her hand was pretty hilarious and DD's excitement for all of her toys (and jammies) was really sweet.
Favorite moment from the holiday weekend? My dad made DS (13 months) a busy board, and it was the HIT of Christmas. Even when the baby wasn't playing with it, adults were gathered around admiring it. I know he was so proud.
Best thing you ate? MACARONI AND CHEESE
Anything else memorable? Hubs and I went out shopping the morning of the 26th and left DS with my parents. It was nice to do some running around together and be able to browse without a baby in tow.
What was your favorite gift you received?
We took a family of 3 vacation to Disney at the beginning of the month. DH and I have very demanding work schedules so it was lovely to have a whole week of concentrated family fun without our regular home and work distractions and obligations.
Favorite moment from the holiday weekend?
Watching DS (2) open gifts. He would ohh and ahh over every gift he opened (and he opened everyone's gifts). It was too cute.
Best thing you ate?
It was all good. I made a Boston Cream Pie for scratch that was delicious. We also had charbroiled oysters as an appetizer on Christmas Day that were a treat.
Anything else memorable?
One of my great aunts bought DS a stuff chipmunk that squeaks. When we got home, DH realized it was a dog toy and the tags clearly stated it was a dog toy and not for children. We got a good laugh. DS will not notice that it is missing (thank goodness).
@Jen_Shoes I'm glad you got to feel some baby kicks! Yay! Did you get to announce the baby's sex at Christmas? I know your sister coming into town put a twist in your plan. I hope it all worked out.
Black booties from DH
Favorite moment from the holiday weekend?
Our gender reveal to my family was a lot of fun!
Best thing you ate?
Swedish meatballs
Anything else memorable?
Watching DD was so much fun this year. She hugged many of her gifts and said, "This was just what I wanted! I loooove it!"

She was still a Scrooge though, said our cousins were "waiting for them for dinner" and they had to hurry up and leave my house... It was only 3:15pm.
Whatever, when this baby comes things will be different. I can't imagine my mother passing up a chance to spend Christmas with the baby.
Possibly my slippers. Also stoked about my Dutch Oven.
Favorite moment from the holiday weekend?
Spending the day after Christmas with the step-IL's, it's always the most fun event of the holidays.
Best thing you ate?
BIL's dinner, he made a great prime rib.
Anything else memorable?
My 2.5yo loved every Mickey Mouse item she was given, and would cry out MICKEY MOOOUUUSE every time she opened something.
It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What was your favorite gift you received? I got a wild one onesie from a friend and Aden and Anais bamboo swaddle blankets from my cousin.
Favorite moment from the holiday weekend? My mom started to cry when she opened the necklace that I got for her. I was with her when she lost her necklace, and she was so upset that day. It felt really good to replace it for her.
Best thing you ate? Grandma's pot pie. We do the PA Dutch kind.
Anything else memorable? Seeing all of my cousins at the same time was pretty great. Now that we're older, it's harder to get everyone at the same events together. My 4 year old niece was also super fun this year, even though she was sick. We went over to my sister's new house and asked my niece for a tour - she plopped down in front of her new doll house and started showing us all the rooms. My sister was like, "They meant a tour of our house, not Doc McStuffins'..."

Best thing you ate? My sisters homemade lasagna. Mmmmm
Anything else memorable? Lots. My son opening socks from my parents and saying "I've always wanted this!" Hahahaha
DH took me shopping, it felt great to get some much needed things for this baby.
favorite moment:
DD got a toy dog from her grandparents and her reaction was precious.
best thing I ate:
SIL made a home made alfredo sauce for dipping breadsticks. It was AMAZING.
anything else memorable?
DD is really creating a strong bond with her aunts and it's so special to see! Just thinking of it puts a smile on my face.

What was your favorite gift you received? I got an awesome new wave iron for my hair and wonderful handmade coasters, paintings and a wreath by my daughter.
Favorite moment from the holiday weekend? My daughter got baptised. Best ever!
Best thing you ate? Glazed ham, my dad's specialty.
Anything else memorable? Not such a fun memory. My niece decided to throw a guitar across the room while we were visiting family on Christmas Eve and it hit my daughter in the head. She was bleeding horrendously but luckily she didn't need stitches! I don't think we'll forget that for a while.
Rainbow Surprise Baby due 05/26/2017
What was your favorite gift you received?
My parents got me a cool alphabet book with really cool illustrations and rhyming in it! I've already created a couple activities based on the book for my pediatric clients haha.
Favorite moment from the holiday weekend?
The whole weekend was great. Getting to spend equal time with both mine and DH's family was awesome. Also, when I have DH his gift, he was so surprised but super happy with what I got him. I probably spent more money than I should have on his gift, but it was totally worth it for how much he has done and accomplished this past year. He deserves it!
Best thing you ate?
Mashed potatoes and gravy were delicious!!! They are my favorite part of any holiday meal, but on Christmas they taste especially good.
Anything else memorable?
I felt some kicks this weekend and couldn't stop smiling every time I felt them. When my sister asked me why I kept smiling, I told her about the movements. She and my mom and other sister started tearing up when I talked about the little kicks I was feeling. Not only am I super excited to become a mom, I'm so excited for my sisters to become aunts, my parents and in-laws to become grandparents, and H to become a dad
-It's a tie between the Ninja Kitchen System from my dad and the Blanqi support tank that I got from my SIL.
Favorite moment from the holiday weekend?
-I loved seeing my 1 year old nephew play on his new toys.
Best thing you ate?
-My brother made some amazing steak from Christmas dinner! I washed it down with the finest of beverages, Martinelli's Sparkling Cider.
Anything else memorable?
-Just spending time with family. All of my in-laws came to WA for the holiday, so I got to spend time with my family and DH's family. Loved it!
1st Baby 5/12/17, Henry
My Roomba for sure. Yay for less time spent vacuuming dog hair!
Favorite moment from the holiday weekend?
My son on Christmas morning. Now that he's almost 3, he really got it!
Best thing you ate?
so. many. sweets. And my mom's breakfast casserole.
Anything else memorable?
Most of the family got a little something for baby, which I thought was really sweet and got me excited to have a new little one around next Christmas!

Favorite moment from the holiday weekend? I enjoyed all of it, honestly. It was very busy but it was so full of family and love.
Best thing you ate? Christmas day, MH's family made a big filet tenderloin. I ate my medium-rare piece without a worry and it was DELICIOUS.
Anything else memorable? Got to be the sober one at MH's family Christmas Eve, which can be a bit rowdy. It was pretty funny/enjoyable.
Favorite moment from the holiday weekend? I had about 4 rounds of Christmas with different parts of our family that don't really mix, so it was a bit of a blur starting the weekend of the 16th. But I really enjoyed jump roping with my 3 y/o niece, who just jumped up and down while waving around her new minnie mouse jump rope.
Best thing you ate? My mom's pot roast. Sooo good.
Anything else memorable? Not really. It was all a blur of travel and chaos.
H wrote me the sweetest letter like we used to exchange in our early dating days when we were away from each other. It was the sweetest.
Favorite moment from the holiday weekend?
DD really loves our Christmas tree and the lights everywhere this year. Seeing her face driving around the neighborhood Christmas Eve was amazing!
Also at mass she kept kid-shouting that she saw baby Jesus. It was equally embarrassing and adorable.
Best thing you ate?
That's a toss up between MILs Christmas potatoes and my dads Honey Ham. Both are so delicious and are only once a year treats.
Anything else memorable?
So many of my cousins were saying things like we "get off the hook for going to all of the Christmases next year" (We usually visit 6-8 places between Eve and Day), but I don't really think anything will change. We love being around the family and DD enjoys seeing all of her aunts/uncles/cousins.
It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.
Favorite moment from the holiday weekend? We surprised my parents with gender reveal gifts so that was a fun surprise as they thought we were waiting until our anatomy scan next week to find out.
Best thing you ate? I had a couple virgin bloody mary's and they were delicious. I also had lots of sweet treats and my moms breakfast casserole which she makes every Christmas morning.
Anything else memorable? That will be the last time we celebrate Christmas with my family on actual Christmas. After LO arrives we want to start our own traditions and have a nice relaxing Christmas at our house.
What was your favorite gift you received? Maternity clothes!! I was putting off buying it, because I would really only need it for work! My job gives us maternity work shirts. Anyway, my siblings each bought me something & I was honestly very pleased!! I received a belly band(black), maternity under shirts, leggings & some cute dress shirts
Favorite moment from the holiday weekend? My favorite moment was seeing my godson open his gift, he is only one, but he was so excited. He only recently (about a month) has started mimicking my excited face & I love it. lol
Best thing you ate? Posole, posole, posole!! I LOVE BEING MEXICAN.
Anything else memorable? I was delighted to see that some of my presents were actually for the baby! I know its not the time to be receiving baby gifts, but it made me happy to know everyone is expecting him as anxiously as my SO & I are!!!
I HOPE YOU ALL HAD A GREAT CHRISTMAS & I WISH YOU THE BEST IN THE NEW YEAR!!
