Funny, sign language!!

my DS is 15 months old and is finally signing things to me. LOL I was so good with it at the first several months, then fell off, then picked it back up for a week, then fell off for a long time. I just started doing it again and BAM, he's doing it. Hahahahaha It's amazing. When he really likes a food he just signs more the entire time pretty much. LOL Finally, some communication. I'm going to stick with it now and see if we can get 10+ signs!!

Re: Funny, sign language!!

  • Forgot to add, is anyone else still doing signs with their toddler? Any success? I was shocked it took this long, but in his defense I pretty much quit for 6 or 8 months. LOL I will stick with it for this next baby!!!

  • We are doing more, all done, and dog. I don't think she quite gets all done though, because she will give the sign and then eat a bunch of cereal right after. And with dog, she tends to pat her chest instead of her leg. She was doing that yesterday with both hands, she looked like Tarzan.
  • My son is almost 15 months and consistently will sign more and please. Sometimes more is a clap and sometimes he gets his fingers together. He totally has please figured out. If he sees you eating something he wants he'll come over and rub his chest. It's too cute to say no!  We're currently working on signing milk. My husband is fluent in asl and I hope LO learns a lot of signs
  • Milk was our very first one. We can also do eat, please, thank you, drink, and all done. He used to sign "more" but then he figured out how to say more and stopped signing it. Now, instead of signing more he'll say more and sign eat (which is super confusing if he wants more of something that isn't food). He understands diaper but can't do it (nor would he really understand when to do it). He'll also wave bye and blow kisses. We're working on clothes, tree, walk, and wash.

"I'm having fruit salad for dinner. Well, it's mostly just grapes, actually. Ok all grapes. Fermented grapes. Fine, I'm having wine for dinner."
  • We have been working on "all done" for awhile now ... but LO prefers to throw his food on the floor when he's done instead. Sigh ;)
  • Milk, all done and more, consistently for quite a while. Just started doing cheese. Won't do water.
