Nap time?

My 4 week old DD slept almost the whole day up until this week. All of a sudden, every sound or movement wakes her up. Now she is restless and fussy all day long, and all night long too. She can't seem to stay asleep anymore, is she maybe overtired??

At what point do you start to implement actual nap times? I've been putting her down in a pack and play bassinet during the day in the living room with the TV and everything going so she could distinguish day from night but maybe naps need to be in her blackout nursery??

I'll be curious to hear others opinions on this too. We're having the same issue except it's not noises waking him up, he seems to be fighting falling asleep. He took one, two hour nap today and a handful of ten minute naps and that's it since 7am.  I can tell he's tired but he refuses to sleep. It's killing me!!

Me too @MrsMaryK2016, she has 10 minutes here and there and a couple of hour and a half stretches but that's about it... if you hold her she passes out in your arms fast, same thing as when we put her in the swing, but she won't stay asleep long. It looks like she's fighting it too, lots of yawning going on.

I'm working around an on demand kind of thing. He has been awake WAY more lately though but he chills out at night so I'm just going with it. With DD we didn't have a nap schedule till around 3 months and that was admittedly because she was in daycare.

I dont really work around any kind of strict schedule until I'm close to returning to work. I try to create habits- i.e. Feet covered = night, uncovered = day, etc... but he's also only 3 weeks. I'm sure things will change.

The sleep plan my H is trying to do has naps if only an hour surrounded by awake time. I have never seen anything that says a baby should nap for only an hour at a time so this seems crazy to me. Admittedly this kid has never wanted to sleep that long but still.

My baby is almost 5 weeks and a week ago I started noticing her being more awake during the day and fighting sleep. She also only falls asleep in someone's arms. I downloaded the wonder weeks app and it sounds like she is about to go through a "leap" (mental development) so I am guessing it has to do with that.

I'm going through the exact same thing, resulting in LO not going to sleep until 3 or 4 am. Glad I'm not alone!
