Kids React (to becoming big siblings)

STM+, how are your kids reacting to becoming big siblings?

It finally sank in for DS1.  He's super excited and tells me "I love our new baby so much."  We took him to the NT scan today and he loved seeing the baby on the screen.  He asked "How about a sister this time?" and then suggested the name "Ham Sandwich."

DS2 is still pretty oblivious I think.  This will be quite the shock for him.

@Xath - A for creativity on the name your DS picked. I laughed out loud and now look like the work place crazy lady lol

  • DD is so happy. She says for sure she's having a baby sister. DS, not so much.

DD: mama when am I getting a baby sister
Me: not for a while, why do you want a baby sister? Don't you want a baby brother?
DD: mama, I don't need 2 brothers, I have one brother and I need one sister.
  • Our older 2(13 & 10) are tired of getting siblings lol. They are stepsiblings to each other. My SD has a new baby brother from her mom and our 3 & 4 year old boys. My DS has 2 brothers(4 & 5) from his dad and then our 3 & 4 year olds. So this will be SDs 5th sibling and DSs 6th. My SD said she hopes this is a girl because she's tired of brothers lol.

Our younger 2 dont really understand yet. I did tell them but only because they like to coming running up and not stop when giving hugs and their heads are right at stomach level. I wanted them to know why they cant do that anymore to me. As I get bigger Im sure they will ask questions about my stomach. We will also show them the ultrasound pictures.

  • @michelle04us I was worried DS1 would be over it as well.  Your bigger kids will get excited (I say as a bigger kid).

  • @ashaw512 Haha, that was DS1's reasoning on wanting a sister too.

  • My son is so excited. He is 4.5 and has been asking for a sibling for years. He keeps kissing my belly and asking if he can rub it. He's been helping me with whatever I need (which is a nice change!).

He he keeps asking when he's going to be a brother. I told him he has to get through Christmas, soccer season, his birthday, and part of baseball season. He gets it
