Infertility

Please talk me down from crazy

I just so want to not do the retrival this week and instead try naturally with the roughly six eggs I have getting ready to go. My IUI attempts with 3-4 didn't work but maybe with 6 I have a shot?? My brain is full on "crazy" mode (I say with quotes Bc I do struggle with issues). Please talk me down. Thank you!!!

Re: Please talk me down from crazy

  • Oh man, sounds like you are dealing with grief and hormones at the same time. Ugh!

I know, not just from this post, but from previous posts, you've had some losses and been through the wringer. I also know you've said your RE has told you you had to try IUIs before moving to IVF. It looks like you've done that, and now you're in the retrieval home stretch, which is painful and expensive. Ugh.

Whatever you decide will be the right choice for you, but I know you've been through a lot these past few months. Before you do anything rash though, I'd take some time to breathe, go for a nice long walk, take a nice long bath, maybe have a nap, and just take care of yourself. In a pinch, a pedicure always makes me feel a bit more centered. xo Good luck!

  • @RAINBOWWISHES5 I get it, these emotions will drive you crazy. What tell a girl in your exact same boat to do if you were not in her emotional state today?
The logical thing to me would be to figure heck,  do an iui. Might work with 6, however, I got really freaked out by seeing that this is the reason for multiples of a high number. I'm not sure that the RE should/would do an iui with 6 larger follicles if the chance is there that you'd fertilize all or even half if those .due to risk of low birth weight, selective reduction and strain on you.  While IVF sucks the life out if you, the control of the situation seems safer.

  • Such a good point re: multiples. So dangerous! Also, imagine having to go through all of this again if another IUI were to fail. Gah. I'd stay the course and follow the doctor's orders.

The wait is agonizing though, especially when you are dealing with all of this.
  • I can't help because I've only done IVF but,  you're not crazy. These meds make u that way
  • Thank you @funkykey you are talking like my saner self!
You are right @JESSABER0414 - I need to remind myself of that!
Thanks for the reminder. @dadezbombz - I'm not usually so impulsive? Hopefully?

  • @rainbowwishes5 I also sadly don't think it's possible for transfer to a retrieval of that makes this any easier :) IVF is a completely different animal and you'd have to talk to your RE. Fx for you and that one of those eggs makes it!
