Re: High Risk Check-In 13/12

  • Why are you considered High Risk?
I have anti-D antibodies present as a result of not receiving a rhogam shot after my MC

    How far along are you?
    8w4d

    How are you feeling?

I am still really sick.  This MS can F off anytime now!  I really didn't have any ms with my son so this is a new ballgame, and that much tougher chasing around a toddler.

    Up coming appointments?
US next Tuesday! Waiting on blood test results from Saturday regarding my antibody levels and hubbies genotype.

    Questions/ Rants/ Raves.
The weather is finally warming up but the wind is crazy!  My son is getting stir crazy being inside but it seems been so cold!

GTKY: What's you go to dish to bring to a potluck?
Probably a taco layered dip or stuffed mushrooms!

  • Why are you considered High Risk?
I guess I go here now. Last ultrasound found two babies instead of the one we saw on the first ultrasound, and twins are automatically high risk.

    How far along are you?

    How are you feeling?
Aside from a little shell shocked, since this came out of left field, I honestly feel fine. No symptoms, not even exhaustion (I mean, aside from being a toddler mom), and even though my uterus is apprently meausring 16 weeks already, I can't feel it to save my life.

    Up coming appointments?
December 30th for NTS. It's the first time my husband will be able to see the babies (plural!) as well, which is pretty awesome.

    Questions/ Rants/ Raves.
A million and a half questions and none of them come to mind right now. Rave: small town living. My car needs to get fixed, but my son is sick and needed to go to the doctor, so my ride couldn't bring me to the shop to drop my car off because of when my son's doctor's appointment was. So, I was just going to walk home, but the shop insisted on sending a mechanic with me to my house so I could hang out at home and then he drove my car back to the shop. Super, super kind of them.

GTKY: What's you go to dish to bring to a potluck?
I really like to use potlucks as excuses to experiment (I love to bake), so I almost always bring a different dessert.

  • @ktewart Twins!  How exciting!  How old is your toddler? My son is almost 14m and chasing him around on top of all of exhaustion and nausea is no joke.

  • @MrsN092714, I'm still absorbing the shock! Haha. We had only seen one on our first ultrasound, so my husband is going to have a heart attack when he gets home (he's military and has been underway, so he has no idea). Since we're announcing Christmas Eve to my parent's and siblings, and he gave me such a hard time about not announcing that we were pregnant to him in a "special" way, I'm thinking I'll let him find out about the twin thing on Christmas Day by having him open a present, haha. Now to keep my mouth shut for two weeks!

My son will be 15 months this Sunday and I completely sympathize with you about the no joke part! I was nervous about having 2 under 2 for two to three months...now I'm looking at 3 under 2 with a husband who is gone 60 to 80 percent of the time. Pray for my sanity! Haha.

I'm sorry you're dealing with the nausea - I've been very lucky, and haven't had any of that, although I didn't with my son either. I think that would make pregnancy SO much harder to deal with.

  • @ktewart I would have SUCH a hard time keeping the news secret but surprising him and watching him figure it out will be so worth it!  How much fun!  There are some really cute twins onesies out there that wouldn't give it away when he pulled out the first one.  So many fun ways to announce twins! And you've got time to figure it out!

I had very little nausea with my son as well so this caught me way off guard.  I was expecting easy, this is really not.  2 under 2 scares me, but it will be so nice having them close in age (later on, hahah) 3 under 2 is a whole new level.  I tip my hat to you, I'm sure you will have it all figured out within no time, thats what us mommas do!

Why are you considered High Risk?

I'm hypothyroid with a history of preterm labor.  DD and DS2 were both 5 weeks preterm.  My uterus ruptured along my scar line while on the operating table with DD.  She passed away unexpectedly in the NICU at 28 hours old and we were never able to detect the root cause.  My placenta also tends to calcify early, which leads to a higher likelihood of a clot breaking off and blocking the umbilical cord.

    tl;dr Pregnancy is super complicated

    How are you feeling?

Queasy-ish but the sort where eating makes me feel better (not good for he waistline).  I'm exhausted but have trouble falling asleep.  This is one of my more symptom-full 1st trimesters, so I can't really complain.

    Up coming appointments?

NT scan and Harmony next Wednesday!

    Questions/ Rants/ Raves.

This is pregnancy #5 here so not too many questions.  We're navigating our first pregnancy in a foreign country away from my (beloved) OB practice, so that's a bit unnerving.  But the country is the U.K. and we found a fantastic doctor so it's a bit less unnerving.  Raves to the new doc team for really holding our hands and giving us extra care given our history.

GTKY: What's you go to dish to bring to a potluck?

I make a mean 6 layer bean taco dip that's usually my first go-to, but I'll rotate through other dishes when repeat potlucking with the same group.

  • @ktewart. Kudos to you for managing kids solo with a spouse on deployment.  My H had his last deployment when DS1 was 10 weeks old, and I nearly went mad from sleep deprivation.  I have the utmost respect for those who do the solo duty regularly and with more kids.

  • Why are you considered High Risk?
I have severe reactive hypoglycemia. Unlike diabetics who have little to no insulin, I have too much. My blood sugar drops to unsafe level with no symptoms. I have to wear a medical id bracelet everyday.

GTKY: What's you go to dish to bring to a potluck?
    Scalloped potatoes!

  • Why are you considered High Risk?
I was high risk for my other 3. I always get a little PreE the last 6w, I was on 4 months of bedrest with my DS. Both DD had  different congenital defects (chd and mesenteric hernia = emergency bowel surgery), now I am 36 and I'm hours away from my doctor.
How far along are you? 11w

    How are you feeling?
Totally different pregnancy. Completely exhausted, super sore boobs and evening nausea; no morning sickness. I generally have morning sickness and heartburn the whole pregnancy.

    Up coming appointments?
Scheduling Monday for a another prenatal and nt scan. I had my first u/s at 7w. I'm a little behind with everyone because my 3 year old was schedule for open heart surgery but she was too sick to travel and my blocked out weeks are now open and my open weeks are now blocked.
    Questions/ Rants/ Raves.

GTKY: What's you go to dish to bring to a potluck?
Depends on the potluck and the requested dish type. I just did a Dijon glazed ham with pearl onions and a side of scallop potatoes for my dh holiday potluck, I do bacon wrapped meatloaf or bacon cheeseburger macaroni (Mac and cheese with burger bacon pickles mustard ketchup it's delicious) for my ds events and I also do homemade cinnamon rolls a lot, smore brownies, pies....

  • Why are you considered High Risk?

I have Lupus, Hypothyroidism, High Blood Pressure. We tried to conceive through IVF with two miscarriages this past year (this one was a natural surprise). Also, according to my doctors I have a "GERIATRIC" uterus......that still makes me laugh:-)

    How far along are you?

    I am 9 weeks and 4 Days!!!!!!

    How are you feeling?

I am soooooooo sick!!!!! I switched to gummy prenatals hoping it would help BUT the texture, oh the texture, I marathon it to the bathroom every night!!!!! I have stopped sleeping through the night this week due to having to pee throughout the night. I'm starting to feel a lot of pulling when I wake up in the morning. Lupus antibodies are doing great.....thyroid is VERY stable and my bp has never looked so pretty!!!!!! Had a bleed and cramping right at 6 weeks and was rushed to ER only to find a hemorrhagic cyst on my right ovary BUT we also found that beautiful first heartbeat<3 Ultrasounds since then show the cyst is basically gone!!!! Nothing since.....knock on wood!!!!

    Up coming appointments?

My next perinatology appointment is January 9th and will probably see by OBGN January 2nd. After that I am in every few weeks until this little bug shows itself in July!!!!! We are having all that crazy blood work done for genetic disorders on the 9th so we will find out what this little one is by the 19th......can not wait!!!!!

    Questions/ Rants/ Raves.

When does the beautiful part of pregnancy start?!?!?!?! This ALL day sickness is tough AND exhausting. I have had family members comment that I am not the first pregnant woman BUT they have never dealt with pregnancy AND an autoimmune disorder. My mama tells me I know tooooooo much about everything and I need to relax. That drives me crazy!!!!! For one I am soooooooo relaxed and enjoying even the yuck BUT I had to know so much while going through IVF this past year. I also try to tell her we are our own advocates and why should I expect my doctors to stay on top of everything if I am not willing to do it as the patient?!?!?!?!?! Thank goodness I live across the country and only have to deal in small doses. I figured you all would understand how I felt in that situation:-)

GTKY: What's you go to dish to bring to a potluck?

We just had one last night for our family Christmas!!!!!! My amazing step-mama (I can't remember life without her so she is my second mom hands down) makes this mandarine orange whipcream cream cheese salad that I LOVE!!!!! We made it together last night for the party:-)

  • @danica01 Geriatric uterus!  That's gold!  I feel ya on the all day sickness.  With my first pregnancy I wasn't sick but still felt off for the whole first trimester.  Once I started popping it started becoming enjoyable (14-15 weeks) and at 18 weeks when the flutters started was when it got really good!  That lasted until about 27 weeks when's I started to feel crappy again! I feel like I'm already popping (although it's all bloat) and am really hoping to get over the nausea soon, and really hoping that I start feeling babe move a little earlier this time.  I've heard of STMs feeling flutters as early as 14 weeks...I hope that's me!

  • Why are you considered High Risk?
My DD was 6 weeks preterm, so I'm at risk for another preterm baby. At 16 weeks I will start receiving weekly Progesterone shots until I'm 36 weeks.

    How far along are you?
    12w4d

    How are you feeling?

    Tired. I have no energy.

    Up coming appointments?
Just had our NT scan on 12/30. Everything looked great and baby is low risk for any of the major abnormalities (thank God)!  Next appointment with the OB in on Jan 9

    Questions/ Rants/ Raves.
Anyone else ever get the progesterone shots?  I'm wondering what the side effects are.

GTKY: What's you go to dish to bring to a potluck?
  • @colee1231 I did the injections with my last 2 pregnancies; I didn't really notice any specific side effects.  I would recommend switching sides each week so as not to irritate the same area repeatedly.
