This is a weekly check in for the mommies who have made it to the 3rd trimester!!! If you are in week 28 or past, feel free to join in on the weekly fun.

If you're just joining us, please post a mini synopsis in your first post with your EDD, how many beans, if you know the sex(es) and how you have been feeling in your 3rd trimester along with any appointments you may have this week or had recently.

QOTW: What is the funniest moment of pregnancy brain or body (tripping/bumping into things) you've had?

If you have updated bump pics, please share! We love seeing these baby bellies!!! Or if you'd like to share a pic of your little one's nursery, feel free to share that cuteness as well!

Re: 3rd Trimester Check-In: Week of December 12th

  • We had our second prenatal visit with our doula yesterday. I just love her! She went over bathing, swaddling, and diapering, and then helped us with our birth and baby care plan. I could sit and chat with her forever. Wednesday I have an acupuncture appointment for relaxation/hip pain and then our 34-week u/s and check in. Wee Boy is still very very active, squirming and kicking like mad. Mother's intuition tells me he'll come a bit early. I told him he's allowed to come early, but he has to wait until after Christmas. :) I'm prepared to go over though, if that's what happens.

QotW: The funniest moment still was from my first trimester. I put toothpaste on my electric toothbrush, looked right at it and thought "yes, this should be turned on outside of my mouth." Turned it on, toothpaste and water EVERYWHERE and it took a full 10 seconds for me to figure out what was wrong and how to fix it.

@dragonfaerie that's great your doula has been so helpful and informative. Sounds like you'll be well prepped by the time your boy makes an appearance. Lol at your funny moment too!

AFM - I have my bi-weekly OB appointment this week and an ultrasound next week. Can't believe we're 3 weeks away from the finish line! Of course this weekend I was reading up more about placenta previa and read that many women experience bleeding between 34 and 38 weeks. Got me a bit worried, since I haven't had an episode since week 15. Now that I hit 34 weeks, I'm going to be so nervous for any signs of blood. I'm just hoping not to go into labor any earlier than our scheduled date!

QOTW - Oh gosh, I've had so many moments, it's hard to remember all of them at this point. 1st and 2nd trimester were the worst. I would forget things and names, say something random that was super silly without realizing it, etc. I used to take out my metro card to get into my house, or take out my house keys to get into my work building and then wonder why I couldn't open the door. I read somewhere recently that it may take up to 6 months for pregnancy brain to go away after birth so I'm hoping to be back to normal eventually!

  • Another week down!! Was supposed to have my three hour glucose test this morning. Unfortunately after fasting and having to drink the nasty orange drink I got sick and the test had to be cancelled :(. Still feeling yucky but a little better. Other then that- things are going great and I have been feeling good.

QOTW- I have definitely had my moments of pregnancy brain- mostly forgetting words and losing things! There isn't a particular moment that stands out though. :)

  • @Tulips29 Oh the keys! I kept looking for my keys to get into the bathroom! lol.
Don't worry too much (haha, right?) You have a healthy little one in there, and if spotting us normal, then at least you know that, even if it's kind of scary when it happens. You got this, momma!

@chicandbubbly Sorry to hear you got sick :( Did they reschedule for you?

  • So I have my weekly appointments luckily they are both in the same day! I see the ob and go for my NST on Friday. I can't believe in 17 days these babies will be here. Meant to tell you ladies before but we needed to upgrade from our Jeep Grand Cherokee to a Yukon Denali. Dh is 6 foot 4 and his knees were in the dash when we put the car seats in. It was an unexpected expense but hey we need to make sure these little ones are safe
  • Thank you @dragonfaerie. They said if I get sick once then likely I will next time too. Instead I have to prick my finger four times a day for a week to test my blood sugar to ensure I don't have GD.

Wow @ultratomato that isn't long at all! Your babes will be here before you know it! Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly.

  • @chicandbubbly I felt sick after the one hour probably the sweetness I don't like sweet things
  • @chicandbubbly sorry to hear you weren't feeling well. Will they even let you try the drink again or do they just go to pricking the finger and testing for GD?

@ultratomato seems so surreal to be so close to meeting them huh? So exciting though!

My c-section date is scheduled for January 13th. The last day of work is Dec 22nd.   It's all coming together,  but I have big worries at home with the construction being finished in time to get ready. I'm angry and frustrated with the situation, but really trying to stay level headed and think clearly for both my husband and I. I have to start getting together my bag for  the hospital.  In addition to that I may need to pack a suit case in case we have to stay at my parents' house after the hospital. The baby won't care if our house is messy,  but we are worried about the dust. My parents are 30 minutes away and my in laws are also 30 min  away in a different direction.  My FIL will be recovering from surgery.  Although they offered to let me stay there,  I'd feel more comfortable at my parents' house,  if it comes down to that.

Luckily I am feeling pretty good.... just feeling big!  I love the attention I get from people.  Although I stand  a lot at work, I can sit down  when I need to. I get pretty out if breath at times.  I was having issues with wheezing and congestion a couple weeks ago,  but that has been resolved.

Qotw: I tend to be very clumsy when I'm going food  shopping. I have done so many shopping trips when I am constantly dropping things.  I don't know what my problem it is... like if I'm just missing the cart or not watching what I'm doing.  Picking things up off the floor many times during the shopping trip is manageable,  but a big pain.
  • @LynnNJ I'm study to hear that your house is still not ready,  that's definitely a lot of stress. :( Praying for a quick resolution for you guys and I'm glad that you are feeling good otherwise! I updated your date up top

  • Hey ladies! Today is 30w5d and I had an OB appointment yesterday. My blood sugars have been good and I lost one pound, so no meds for me! I'm also measuring exactly where I should be  My follow-up with my diabetes educator is tomorrow where I'll find out if my glucometer is working. I've had a few high blood sugar readings that were within normal limits when I immediately retested. Now I'm concerned that all of my values aren't accurate. But my OB isn't worried.

QOTW: No particular moments that stand out, but I do drop things quite often. I also forget what I'm saying in the middle of a sentence. People think I'm crazy.

Ugh ladies, I feel like my body is staring to fall apart. Yesterday evening I started feeling this nagging inner thigh pain. It felt like I did a million squats and could barely walk after. I googled it and seems like others have experienced this as well. It's pelvic pain that supposedly can happen from the baby moving and pressing on a nerve down there. Some also said it could be round ligament pain, but it doesn't seem to be it. Anyone experiencing this? I'm going to my OB today, but I feel like he'll just say oh this is normal and just hang in there.

  • @Tulips29 My hypnobirthing book actually just had something similar that I read about last night. Your pelvic bones start shifting to make room for baby to come out, which messes up your walking even more. Mention it to your doc, but it probably,  sadly, is just the nature of the beast. :( Maybe an Epsom salt bath will help?

  • @dragonfaerie yea, I figured it might be all part of the process. But why does it have to be so painful and uncomfortable?! I hope this baby stays put, I'm not ready for him to start preparing to come out just yet! I'll definitely ask my OB tonight and maybe try the bath too.

  • @Tulips29 I haven't had inner thigh pain, but have had some intense pelvic bone pain. Especially when I switch positions. I believe there's an abundance of relaxin that is being secreted to loosen everything up. Baby Center says we're having "pelvic girdle pain". Here's an article that tells you how you can manage it.

  • @vssbrm love the kitchen so much! What color green is that? It looks exactly like our kitchen color. We used Benjamin Moore I forget the color name.
  • Week 37 here. We just started working on the nursery but we're all set up in our bedroom. So lots of construction going on here. We had to completely demo the nursery room due to the previous owners. First pic is how we saw the room when we bought it  second pic is we set up an aerobed for guests  and primed whenever we had leftover primer  third pic is current. Demo  fourth pic is when we had the aerobed in there
  • @Drove2u I like that room!!
We had our u/s and check in last night. They are measuring Wee Boy two full weeks ahead, but the doc recognized that the measurements are often wrong and she was not concerned. I don't have any of the indicators for having a large baby (GD, lots of weight gain) so he is either just big,  or they are wrong.  :) She was very supportive of our birth and baby care plan. That will likely be our last u/s, which kinda makes me sad, but I know I'll see my boy in 6 weeks or so!

  • Ok I need to rant went to get NST and of course second week in a row I sit in the ultrasound area for about 45 min for them to tell me that they don't have my script needless to say I flipped out not one of my best moments but I finally got out of there 2 and 1/2 hours later ugh
  • @ultratomato Oooo, that is extremely frustrating! I hate how docs want you to be on time (or early) but they dink around and make you wait (while having to pee, tyvm) for them.

  • So I had my ob appointment today they did the strep test and bloodwork. My ultrasound from NST showed that the babies weigh approximately for A 6lbs 12oz and B 7lbs 12oz and they kept commenting how long they are I guess having a 6ft 4 inch husband and me being 5ft 11inch would make some tall babies lol. My day finally got better when I got home and could relax
  • @ultratomato holy cow! You've got two grown children in your belly! My son was 7lb 12oz alone!
