Tattoo removal & tattoos

Hey has anyone got tattoo removals whilst they are pregnant? Or is anyone really against it and why? And are getting tattoos while pregnant safe too?

The risk from the laser is minimal, but most places won't take pregnant clients. I was in the middle of a laser hair removal package on my underarms (nowhere near my uterus) and the spa wouldn't let me continue once I found out I was pregnant. I asked my brother-in-law who's a dermatologist and he said there ultimately is probably no risk, but it's just another of those situations where they don't have the research to prove it either way. Definitely wouldn't recommend getting a tattoo either since the risk of infection is always there. I honestly wouldn't recommend either procedure just to be safe, plus you couldn't pay me to endure any additional pain whilst pregnant.

I had one tattoo removed and was working on another. I decided to wait until after I deliver to continue, and it's just a tiny tattoo on my foot. I read that pregnant women's skin is more sensitive to the light and the pain, and it hurts enough as it is. If it were a larger tattoo, I think I'd have some worries about the ink being broken down into my blood stream, but this one was little.

I'll wait a few months after birth now! how many treatments did your small tattoo take and how much was it?

@Dominique236, the one I had removed was only 1 inch by 1 inch big, solid blue. It took 9 sessions at $100 a pop. You can actually still see the outline - I could use probably 2 or 3 more sessions, but it's at the point where it doesn't bother me anymore. All of that for a $50 impulse decision!

The other one I'm working on is even smaller, and it's costing $50 a session. Hopefully it'll go faster because it's just a black one. Black disappears quicker than some colors.
