Headaches

I know there are quite a few of us with terrible headaches. Anyone else getting them daily? I'm getting these sharp headaches only on my left side and they're killing me!!! I never took Tylenol with my other pregnancies but I finally caved this time because of the damn headaches. But I don't want to take it every day. Water doesn't seem to help and niether does food. Anyone else try something that seems to work?

I know you said water isn't helping but I did find an obscene amount of water helped me. I get them almost daily but if I continuously drink water, it seems to be better. Like 3-4 liters a day. Downside, I pee all freaking day. I also noticed I need to get enough sleep. Days where I sleep worse, I wake up with headaches.
Tylenol/Panadol occasionally work for me but rarely. Have you tried a little caffeine? I bought mini-cokes to limit the amount but I find those help some days too.

Ill ll be honest though, there's plenty of days I've got absolutely nothing that works. It sucks :(

  • @sarah0985 so nice not to be alone but sucks for those of us suffering!! I will try to overdo the water. I could definitely up my water intake. I drink a cup or 2 of coffee every morning already. The sleep could be part of it too! Thank you!

  • I try to tough them out as long as possible, but on day 2 or 3 of a persistent headache I take Tylenol tension headache (just Tylenol + caffeine) and that usually gets rid of it. it does take a while to kick in though.

  • I've found peppermint oil on my temples and base of skull seems to help!

  • Yes. We just talked about this in a thread yesterday. We all have them.

  • More sleep and extra water seem to help reduce the severity of my headaches. I'm pretty bad about drinking water during the AM so by lunch time I will start to feel it. My goal is to try to start drinking more water before lunch. Meh.

  • @pshaortao Up until about 5 years ago I hated water and never drank it. As in, you could've asked me the last time I had a cup of water and I either would have no idea or it would've been a week ago. I've learned to tolerate it now.
One thing that helps me is to set a goal. I used to have a 16 oz bottle and I'd make myself drink half of it every hour. If I didn't, I'd have to chug it down. I've now upgraded to a 36 oz bottle and I make myself complete one by lunch and one by the time I go home. I'm supposed to have a 3rd one once I get home-to bed, but...yeaaa...

  • I have really bad headaches and I have major issues with Acetaminophen so Tylenol is a no go for me.  I tend to wrap my head/neck in a heating pad and drink some caffeine and a lot of water.

  • I second the peppermint oil. Helps temporarily. But don't get it in or close to your eyes.. ouch... Tylenol doesn't work for me so I don't even both taking it...

  • @nda_roxybabe having a pretty bottle or cup can really help! I used to have a large reusable bottle when I was pregnant with DD at work and I would usually finish it and refill it most days and I felt okay for the rest of the day. It just has to have ice in it ha.

Now I have a pretty 24oz cup with a straw that DD can't take out completely and I keep it by me when we hang out at home in the afternoon. She enjoys drinking out of it more than her own cup which I consider a win-win.

Moms cup is ALWAYS better right? My girls have their own straw cup with their favorite character, but they will go for my boring cup every time!

Using a straw cup and making sure it's ice water helps me increase my water intake. Try those LeCroix waters too, they are just carbonated-flavored water!

  • @h&pmomma isn't the la Croix like club soda but flavored? I can't stand club soda =( I keep some store brand in the pantry for my mom for when she visits.

  • @pshaortao I like carbonated water so I didn't mind it, but yes it is carbonated like club soda... but I would say it's more like drinking a sprite because of the flavoring. I can't stand flat flavored water or even lemon in my water at a restaurant!

  • Like many of you have said, I've definitely noticed headaches are far worse when I don't sleep as well or haven't had enough water. Sometimes I'll slice up some lemons, limes, or cucumber to put in the water when I get tired of it just plain. (Then I feel like I'm at a spa. )The other thing is I like a cup of decaf tea in the afternoon - it still hydrates you but you get a different flavor.

  • I was getting bad headaches and drinking lots of water wasn't helping. I went to my chiropractor last week because I saw him for headaches before I got pregnant. Neck and shoulder tension can cause headaches. After my chiropractor adjusted me he gave me some neck and shoulder exercises to do every day to keep the headaches at bay. I've been trying to do the exercises every day and have noticed a significant decrease in my headaches. I've also been drinking more water evey day too. Peppermint oil helps as well.
