I've seen this on a few other BMBs and I think it might be nice to have a place to chat about particular issues that come with being plus-sized and pregnant. So here goes!

Re: December Plus-Size Check-In
How are you feeling? Pretty good - nauseated, but can't complain. In terms of being plus-sized, I sometimes think we have an advantage with body issues in the first tri: I wear a 14, so an extra 5 pounds doesn't really show on me the way it does on a smaller lady, so while the bloat is real, it's not spinning me out. I am concerned about some health stuff (especially GD, since all that's sounded good to me is pasta and bread) as well as being scared that I'll never look pregnant, just fat.
Questions? STM+ mamas, when did you start showing?
GTKY: What's the last great book you read? I just finished Dave Holmes' memoir and loved it - really smart and funny and charming.

How are you feeling?
Pretty good so far. First appointment is on Wednesday! I'm starting at about 15 lbs heavier than I did with DD so I'm kind of nervous to see how big of a difference it makes. With DD I didn't start showing until around 30 weeks so I'm kind of surprised that I already have a little bump/blump with this one. I feel like I'm going to show a lot sooner.
Questions?
This is probably a stupid question... does being plus sized alone put you in a high risk category or is the complications that might go along with being overweight? With DD, no one ever said anything about my weight and I never had any complications. Basically, I'm just wondering if it will automatically be an issue this time.
GTKY: What's the last great book you read?
Im reading The Shining right now for my book club and it's really good so far. WAY different than the movie.
BFP #2: due 6/30/2017, MMC found 12/7/2016
BFP #3: due 10/21/2018
How are you feeling? Pretty good, I haven't had morning sickness with any of my pregnancies, so I'm happy that i seem to have avoided it again. I'm exhausted, though. I'm a doula and I often work crazy long overnight hours and after a birth i am struggling to get off the couch. Today is especially bad. I literally have done nothing all day besides get my kids off to school. And the birth I attended was only from 8pm-2am! It was short, but I'm just dead to the world right now.
Questions? No questions, I've done this a few times and birth is my job
GTKY: What's the last great book you read? I couldn't put down Girl in the Train! That had me hooked from the first chapter and I finished it in 2 days
How are you feeling? Not liking that if Im not nauseous because of not eating Im having gas and the pains with it whenever I eat. Doesnt matter what I eat either.
Questions?
GTKY: What's the last great book you read? Im not sure. Im a big reader (like 5-6 books a week sometimes if my toddlers let me) but my favorite author is Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb and Lisa Jackson.
@leilac Im a size 18 this go round but with my last 2 pregnancies a size 12-14. Surprisingly I started showing at about 12 weeks with my last but I was also only 20weeks pp so probably had more to do with uterus not being back to normal before pregnancy. Im already starting to firm up this time around though so I guess it depends on where baby is laying as well. Probably wont LOOK pregnant till later to everyone else this time.

How are you feeling? The nausea seems to be petering out. I still have bouts here and there, but they aren't as intense and they don't last all day. I do get tired and winded a lot more easily, which is not fun when you pretty much walk to work. I will say that my boobs are huge...which is ok since I now fill my DDD cups (I had lost maybe 1-2 cup sizes while doing barre), but they are HEAVY. I am, however, not happy that my work pants are getting uncomfortably tight (I haven't gained any weight). Thank goodness the belly bands came today.
Questions? I second @bel194 's question. Am I automatically going to be high-risk solely because of my weight?
GTKY: What's the last great book you read? It's called "Maybe In Another Life" (I'm part of a book club). I really, really liked it and it showed the what if's in the main character's life.
How are you feeling?
Much better than I did during first tri with my first two pregnancies. Mostly tired
Questions?
No questions, but I was plus sized for both of my previous pregnancies and was not labeled high risk. I always had great blood pressure, no issues with gd or anything else and gave birth to two very healthy babies. Hoping it remains true for the third time!
ETA- my bmi was in the obese range in case anyone was wonder what my definition of "plus size" is.
GTKY: What's the last great book you read?
not much of a reader here, last thing I read was the Song of ice and Fire series which I love. Sci-fi fantasy are my favorite.
How are you feeling? irritable. Lord help me!
Questions? how do I deal with irritability
GTKY: What's the last great book you read? oh wow I'm not sure.

How are you feeling? Today was a bad day, I was pretty sick and actually had to leave work early. Otherwise in general I was starting to feel better. I've actually been losing weight, I guess because of the "morning" sickness but I'm still concerned about weight gain once my appetite is back. The NP at my OB's office told me I shouldn't gain more than 15lbs so hopefully I can stick to that. I'm also worried about never really looking pregnant, especially since I tend to carry weight in my belly anyway. If I wore tight clothes now I could pretend I was showing but it's all fat lol.
Thankfully so far my BP's been good. My doc even did an hba1c (to check for diabetes/pre-diabetes) and that was good too so hopefully a sign that things will go well for me.
Questions? Where did/do you buy maternity pants? I bought some online from JCPenney's but some were too big even though I followed their sizing guidelines and the butt part of the jeans wasn't actually big enough for my butt so the stretchy panel part kept showing when I wore it out this weekend.
GTKY: What's the last great book you read? @mama2stepmama I also really liked The Girl on the Train! Did you see the movie? @lfk2013 that book sounds interesting! I'm always looking for new books to read, maybe I'll get that on my kindle app.

How are you feeling? Tired, but good! Most of the day I don't really feel pregnant, other than being tired more easily. Some nausea occasionally, but I've been blessed with super smell those go-round which can bring on nausea...
Questions? How many lbs are you ladies aiming to gain? With my last pregnancy, I gained 10lbs, so I plan on trying to keep it under 15lbs this time. I'm a size 12 and hope to limit the weight gain in general. I have a history of BP and GD ( only with DS2 and not DS1 though I was the same weight with both and also with this one) so I'm worried about that.
GTKY: What's the last great book you read? I'm currently reading "Right brained child in a left brain World". Excellent read so far! As for fiction, I'm almost done with the All Souls trilogy!

GTKY: What's the last great book you read?
Probably Q&A. Couldn't put it down and the book is so much more amazing than the movie.
So going into this pregnancy Im 196 (5'2"). I would prefer to only gain 15lbs but have never gained less than 25 in any of my pregnancies. My previous one I started at 185 and got up to 210. Finally made it back under 200 to find out I was pregnant again. I wasnt considered high risk last pregnancy but not sure about this one yet. They did keep giving me pamphlets about losing weight and eating right but wasnt diagnosed with GD either. This time around I plan on watching sweet intake (although hasnt been a problem so far lol) but other than that just portion control.
Over the last year I have finally gotten comfortable in my body and know this wont change that. Just 6 years ago I weighed only 110lbs but still wasn't confident. I'm glad you started this @leilac so we can keep each others confidence up during this time.
bel194 I was overweight with my first too and gained an insane amount of weight but my dr never said anything. i was at risk of early delivery at 8 months but no one related it to my weight. I'm obese this time so idk if that's the same
leilac i'm pretty sure i'm already showing! cause i wake up in the morning with a small bump, i looked it up and some say the uterus could expand ahead of time in second + pregnancies. thanks for starting this btw!
How far are you? 9+3
How are you feeling? well i woke up with a sore throat this morning! (fml) other than that i usually fluctuate between horrible nausea and a horribly active appetite
Questions?
GTKY: What's the last great book you read? harry potter and the cursed child
How far are you? 8 weeks today
How are you feeling? So. Dang. Nauseous. I had morning sickness with my first but this is so different. It's more of an all the time queasiness combined with feeling like I've eaten cement. Nothing seems to help except constant snacking and while I'm trying to stick to healthy options to keep my weight gain down sometimes I just can't stomach it.
Questions? Not so much a question but for everyone asking my Doctor automatically does extra testing if your BMI puts you in the obese range. I'm high risk due to blood pressure issues with my last pregnancy not my weight and sometimes I feel a little judged at the office because of my weight. I have to do an early diabetes test this week solely because of my BMI and I had a ton of extra blood taken after my ultrasound last week for the same reason. I understand the precaution but man the extra appointments the last week have been killing me.
GTKY: What's the last great book you read? The Lunar Chronicles series!
How are you feeling? Pretty good, just exhausted all the time and hungry half the time!
Questions? WHY are 90% of maternity clothes fitted?? Is it so you have to keep buying more of them? Sorry, I don't want to accentuate my gut, I've had one for too long already! (This will also be my UO this week)
And yes, I'm totally wearing maternity clothes already.
GTKY: What's the last great book you read? I'm currently listening to Laurie Notaro's new book on audible. I don't read real books anymore!
Highly monitored internet and no cell service in the office, so I'm postin' and ghostin' while I'm workin'

How are you feeling?
I'm actually feeling better in terms of nausea. It still comes and goes, but it's not always there. The fatigue, weird dreams and back pain are still there though.
Questions?
It's not really a question, but it's crazy to me that I'm showing already as a first-timer. Not in the standard way, just in a "I can't suck my gut in like I used to" way. I feel like I have a beer belly. (Sigh)
GTKY: What's the last great book you read?
hmm...Since The Girl on the Train has already been called out, I'll say the Peculiar Children trilogy I binged on this year. So much better than the movie.
How am I feeling? Currently like poo. I feel like I have overeaten every time I have a "regular" sized meal. Then if I eat just a little I get nauseated after 30 minutes and want to eat more only to find it doesn't really help. The mental feelings are all over the place. I think I'm more anxious this time around than the first- worried about job commitments and expectations. I also don't work from home anymore, so I miss the Pjs at work!
Questions: none really, but I hope I feel pregnant this time around. Last time I felt like most people just thought I gained weight, but not that I was pregnant. I never looked in hump day bump day threads because they depressed me. I was in a wedding when I was 7 months pregnant and I'm sure she meant it as a compliment but "you don't even look pregnant" is an insult to someone who has gained 15 lbs and is 7 months pregnant. Since then I have decided to only ever say "you look great" or "you look beautiful" because it hurt so badly to hear that I didn't look pregnant because basically she said "you look fat"
book: ive been doing a lot of work reading so Patrick Lencioni's 3 signs of a miserable job...
thanks for starting this post, I think I'll need it
and the sizes are really small is there a husky maternity store? :'(
i would be in maternity clothes too if i could find comfy ones, i'm totally showing already, wheather it's baby or bloat, it's pregnancy!
