Staying Positive

Good morning ladies! I am a frequent reader and occasional poster on the boards and love to read all the experiences and support provided. I am 13 weeks today and have two children at home (6 &2). I experienced a loss in January so this is hopefully my rainbow baby.  Yesterday afternoon I started spotting.  It is dull brown in color and not heavy at all. I am trying to stay positive and have called my OB this morning but like my last loss he is not in today and they have transferred by concerns on to the other OB on staff that was also there with my last loss and provided no support or guidance.  Trying to stay positive that I am much farther along, the bleeding is not heavy or "red", and no cramping. Sending up prayers and hoping for the best. My NT scan is scheduled for Wednesday.

I had that a couple of times early on. It's pretty common. I was told that if it gets heavier or starts to turn bright red that it's most likely nothing to worry about. But it can be alarming. Good luck. I hope it turns out well for you.

I've had spotting on and off this whole pregnancy so far (I'm 10 weeks 2 days).  They've done a couple of ultrasounds, and everything looks fine.  They see no cause for it, so they are just assuming my cervix is extra sensitive right now (since my pap at my last appointment also caused me to bleed for 2 days).

I had the same kind of dull brown spotting at 10 weeks. I got it checked out and everything was fine and I was told it was completely normal. No need to worry unless the bleeding becomes bright red and you fill a pad within 45 minutes. You are 13 weeks so highly unlikely anything is wrong at this point! Good luck with your NT scan!

I had the same thing happen to me, brown spotting for about a week. Babies were just fine, that was a month ago almost and no issues since. Huge hugs, it's hard to be positive but just know that at this point, chances are very good everything is just fine!

Just breathe, OP! As PPs with similar experiences have posted: dark, brown spotting isn't that ominous. The bright red, heavy (1-2 pads/hour), and crampy stuff is what you should really get nervous about. In any case, I see you have a previous loss so I completely get why you're extra worried and I am so sorry for your loss. I'm sending T&Ps your way for calm and reassurance that all is well. Hoping you hear back from your OB soon to really put your mind at ease!

ETA: Keep us posted though :)

Heard back from the nurse about 11:00 who asked general questions (color, amount, etc.) and she said she would talk to the dr on staff and call me back....still waiting! On the plus side...little to no spotting today!

I think you'll be just fine. :) positive vibes to you. I spotted brown at 6 weeks and I thought it was all over. I had a nightmare that I woke up to a pool of blood and miscarried but I woke up and the spotting stopped. I'm now 12 weeks and use a home doppler to pick up the heartbeat for reassurance. Its a blessing.

Also with my son I spotted enough brown to use a liner for 8 weeks straight. It even started with a bright red/hot pink spatter. Absolutely nothing was wrong and I had an uneventful pregnancy. Brown is old blood which is good. It means nothing is actively bleeding. Lots of women spot during pregnancy. Very common!

Had my NT scan yesterday and the baby looked good and was moving around alot. I was 13w 3d at the NT ultrasound and the measurement was 1.6-1.8 depending on the angle so my OB is slightly concerned as it was a little wider that he would have liked. Started the blood work yesterday and should find out results on the 22nd after my next blood draw on the 19th. Have done some internet research and it seems like the width is still in the normal range. Any ladies had this experience?

@southdakotamom when I had my NT scan done they said anything less than 3 was normal according to the genetic counselor.  I know that's not much help but your baby sounds fine!

@southdakotamom I was told the same thing by my OB as @Wearmi1 ... my little guy was measuring 1.3 (which is less than 3) and he was very happy with that.

Thanks ladies! That is what I have been reading so I am staying pretty positive and either way this baby will be loved.
