Re: Newbie Intro week of 12/05

  • @flowerintherain Welcome and thank you for taking the directives so well!  I hope your stay here is short but I would suggest looking at tracking BBT as that will be your best indicator of O.

@Ejay2 I'm so sorry for your loss!  We are happy to have you here and hope that you find as much value and support as the rest of us have!

How many months have you been TTC? 8 months.

What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?

    • Tracking with Ovia

  • @Lady Amalthea Welcome!  First, can I ask you to remove the space in your name?  It makes it difficult to tag you.  Second, many women on here use and recommend Fertility Friend as it it better at predicting your FW than Ovia using data from past cycles.  Also, I would suggest looking into temping.  It is the only way to truly confirm that you are ovulating.  Please jump into the daily threads when you are ready and feel free to ask any questions you may have!

Hi Lady Amalthea- I was having trouble tagging you so I just quoted you instead. I noticed that you mentioned that you are taking vitex. I actually just started taking it for my irregular cycles. Can I ask how you like it? Any side effects? Also, welcome! I am also new here and the girls here have been great!

  • Ages (you and SO):  SO is 32 and I am 36.

How many months have you been TTC?
    7.  I got pg in August but it turned into an ectopic so I am back here.  My HCG levels have finally returned to 0.  I was on this  board back in June.

What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?

    • Temping and tracking.

Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.)

I'm an artist and art teacher.  We have 2 dogs.  I am a big potter and love making anything and everything out of clay.  I am hoping to setup an ETSY show of my work if I don't get KU before the summertime.

  • @georgiagirl3050 Glad to see someone else introducing themselves early! I'm also gearing up to TTC in March!
  • Ages (you and SO):  I am 34 and I do not have a significant other. (Single Mom by choice) Totally non-traditional I know :)

How many months have you been TTC?
I just started this month with 2 AI's at home during my ovulation window. Hoping I read the darn tests correctly.

What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?

    • I started tracking and using opk's. I have a known donor that has been available to provide donations during ovulation time.

Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.)  I have two wonderful girls that keep me crazy busy when I'm not at work. I have one cat who is the best bff any single girl could ask for; she even plays fetch! My hobbies are close to none but when I do have time, I usually go play tennis or hit the gym.

  • Ages (you and SO):  Both 27.

How many months have you been TTC?
6-7 months (after I had my copper IUD removed).

What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?

    • Taking prenatals for the last 9 months or so.
    • Last cycle started checking OPK and found out I ovulate later than I thought.
    • Cut back significantly on caffeine intake - now drinking mainly tea with only occasional coffee for past month or two. I used to drink espresso most mornings.

Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.)  I am in my medical residency training. We have no kids yet but do have pets. I regularly exercise at a high intensity but not excessively (3-4 days per week). I have been surprised and disappointed by how difficult it has been to become pregnant, as I am very healthy with regular, predictable cycles. I am really hoping to get pregnant no later than this spring.

@lulu1180 ohhhhhh I didn't realize, is there a way I can change it? and yep I have been temping, but this month I am taking a break from everything as I was really overwhelmed. I've heard stress can effect fertility so this month I am focusing on managing stress. I will have to check out FF - thanks! :)

    Hello @laureneg14

I took it on the advice of a naturopath to regulate my hormones when coming off birth control. I didn't feel any side effects. I now drink it as a tea as its cheaper and I am hoping for the fertility benefits. I haven't felt any side effect with the tea or capsules. Welcome to you too!

  • Welcome back @soemthingclever !!  I have PCOS as well and I used Vitex for a few months.  Just a word of warning that if you ever want to take Femara or any other fertility drug you will have to discontinue the Vitex first - it actually counteracts the drugs.  Hope you don't have to resort to those measures and hope you get your BFP soon!
  • Thanks, @ChefRamsay
@antoto Thanks! Thanks for the tip! No fertility treatments yet. But I'm probably headed in that direction, so good to know.
