I made this recently from left over turkey and turkey bone broth (but it could be done with chicken just as easily). It was yum! All my kids loved the gnocchi.
I've been churning out venison soups and stews, a mild pumpkin soup for funny tummy evenings, and I've been specializing in using my big cast iron baking dish to layer with a starch (rice or potatoes) some other vegetables usually, a meat, and some sauce or spices. Tonight was little red potatoes, onions, chicken thighs, smothered in a chimmichurri/pesto thing I made from a bunch of leftover herbs my mom brought over and cashews. About 3/4 through I added a ton of green beans to the top.
I also caved and went and got ribs last night. My apatite has been wild this weekend!
@jennbaylor12 - I don't use recipes but let's see... The stew was potatoes, hind quarter roast, onions, garlic, red bell pepper, carrots, mushrooms and I think that's all... I cubed them pretty small for this one because I didn't want to have to stew it for too long so the venison wouldn't get tough... I sauteed the onions, garlic, and red bell pepper for a bit (in a couple tblsps butter rather than oil because the venison is so lean and I find the butter adds a silkiness to the liquid) with herbs and spices (I think I used coriander, a little sage, some oregano, some red pepper flakes, basil). Then I added in the venison and cooked it on med about 1/2 done before adding the rest of the things and enough broth to cover. Usually I would include a thickener like some corn starch or instant potatoes but I didn't have either this time.
The chilli was beans (kidney and pinto), corn, poblanos (go GREAT with venison!), onion, hind quarter roast again (because that's what I had thawed - though I think ground would have been better), diced tomatoes, and some cherry tomatoes because I love them in chilli. Spices where like... chili powder, crushed red pepper, garlic powder, errr... I don't know what else if anything I threw in there. Sauteed the onions and peppers and spices for a bit first, added the venison, then turned the heat down and threw in the rest of the stuff and let it go for a while on really low.
@slartybartfast - Thanks! Sounds like what I do. I make a venison spaghetti and venison chili that are really good, always looking for new things to do ;-)
I feel like I have been eating less since coming home. I think it's cos I don't have a schedule and eat when I can, which is just breakfast, lunch and supper - at random times when they fit in with LO's schedule. I rarely have any sort of snacks. And, when DH went back to work last week, I'll at least have lunch since we'll heat some freezer meal his mom made us, or he'll get something for us on our way home (usually a salad of some sort).

@jennbaylor12 - I'm new to venison but I can see running out of new things quickly... we're going to make the tenderloin for Christmas dinner with root vegetables and brussel sprouts or artichoke (or both...). And maybe burgers sometime soon? I'm skeptical about the burgers. But we shall see.
I've been going a little crazy with the cooking lately. If I know something will be freezer-friendly I make a double batch. So far I've got pea soup, butternut squash soup, and channa masala (Indian spiced chickpeas). I also made two batches of oatcakes and one batch of muesli snacking cookies.
That said, eating has been a struggle the last couple of days. I want to nosh, but I've just been getting so full so quickly, and then I'm not hungry again for hours. I'm trying to follow my body, but I have so many Thanksgiving leftovers just sitting in the fridge taunting me!
I've also been making myself the weirdest smoothie: blueberries, a banana, spinach, almond butter, flax meal, chia seeds, a generous splash of milk, and the Amazing Greens and (peppermint-tasting) chlorophyll supplements my midwife has recommended I start on.
And dates. Lots of dates.

We made this for guests last night and have tons in the freezer now...so good. I've also been on a huge gingerbread kick and made gingerbread granola today.
I'm still adjusting to eating post-HG. I definitely think my stomach shrunk over the last nine months so I can't eat much at once. I'm also still stuck in the mindset of eating my safe foods, even though I don't feel nauseous anymore. I've been eating a lot of jello and Rice Krispies cereal. I'm getting better though, I had a shredded chicken soft taco with beans, cheese, lettuce, and sour cream for lunch. It's totally a mental thing and not a physical one, I just have to overcome it.
Oh man @ashleaf2018 that's no fun.... though I had hg with my last and the moment he came out, I just wanted to inhale food for like 3 months straight. Not the healthiest reaction...
Still eating what works on the GD diet, haven't made anything fun in a while but my freezer is packed with all the goodies I've had to avoid the past few months, including part of our baby shower cake.
@jennbaylor12@slartybartfast My favorite casserole to make with venison (In fact, I made this Friday night) https://wearychef.com/meat-and-potatoes-casserole/ I use fresh potatoes - and be sure to not over do it on potatoes so that the delicious cream sauce can sink into the dish (Also, doubling the butter in the sauce is a sure way to deliciousness and heart attacks)
Really wanted ice cream. But it's cold. So it needed to be on something warm. I had one apple left. Found a microwave apple crisp recipe. Topped with caramel and ice cream. So worth it.
Easy dinners for the next month or so. I made quesadillas and they were sooo yummy. Also had cucumbers, a cheeseburger because I wanted one, and oranges. I've turned into a 5 year old.

For whatever reason I feel brilliant every time I remember how delicious cooked apples are - which is like 2-3x a year. So good!
We went to our all you can eat hibachi and sushi place last night with my SIL and BIL. I had 2 sushi rolls, shrimp, chicken, steak, noodles, veggies, rice, Krab Rangoon, qq balls and 1 1/2 servings of ice cream (I finished DH's). Then got home and SIL made their grandmother's cake for DH as a birthday gift for us, so of course I had a piece of that. I don't remember the last time I was able to eat that much, but I'm still full today!

I made these for the freezer for after baby so I don't have a repeat of my diets after DD1 (mini hershey bars) or DD2 (honey nut cheerios). I also made 12 cups of shredded chicken breast, 4 pounds of ground beef and 4 pounds of taco meat. Oh, and 18 cups of my spaghetti sauce recipe. I must admit I've been eating pretty well the past week with all of this rolling out of my kitchen.
I want to eat everything. Just had crackers with cambozola, garlic/herb brie (pasteurized!), and salami. Omg, so good. Now time for ceasar salad. And something else... can't think of what... I want the food I just don't want to cook it. I can eat until 2:00 am, and then I have to stop for my RCS tomorrow at noon!!! Ahhh!!!
Post partum me is similar to pregnant me in that I just want to eat desserts! It's a good thing I have a baby to take care of or I'd be baking and eating chocolate all day!
Yep, post partum me wants ALL the food. Especially food that isn't any good for me. My Mom just mailed Christmas cookies to me and I'm stalking the mail.
Met my doula at Panera bread yesterday and had their squash soup. Omg. So delicious. It's probably all cream but I don't care. Then to add a green goddess salad, it was a blissful hour.
One of our vendors caters us lunch from a Mexican restaurant 30 minutes from here every year for the holidays. It's scheduled to happen on the 14th. Even if I am on leave already, I plan to come in for lunch that day because it's all I can think about lately. I will have to determine a different plan if I am in the hospital (meaning co-workers will need to deliver me some).
I made Buckeyes today (peanut butter chocolate candy thing). It's probably the only Christmas cookie I'll get made, and I've already eaten at least 10 "ugly" ones.
PP me starves all night and struggles to eat during the day. I remember this from last time too...Hopefully I'll be more proactive this time about fixing it.
I'll be looking up nursing enhancing foods too now that my milk has started coming in...but I need to stop eating so much percoset before I'm more comfy giving a lot of breastmilk. Is that dumb? Overreacting?
Oh man, I didn't really eat anything yesterday because of the labor, c-section, and then complications. I was just drinking liquids yesterday. However, I've been an eating machine today thanks to Lucas, he has been eating so much and my milk is already coming in. My hospital has awesome food and I got to take advantage of it today! I had a veggie omelette, chicken sausage, Mediterranean flatbread, chicken sandwich with avocado/bacon/provolone, pesto pasta, vegetable soup, and caramel filled brownies. Those brownies were so good!!! its the MOTN but I'm already getting hungry again, feeling really glutinous right now.
I just ate a massive snickerdoodle for breakfast before the baby woke up because it was the fastest thing I could find. It's really no different than a donut, right?

I made polenta topped with a balsamic sauce and chicken and mixed veggies (sundried tomatoes, eggplant, collard greens and zucchini). It was SO yum!
Due December 27th with baby #7
i have, unfortunately, eaten three Christmas tree brownies today though.
My Wedding Bio!
Specifically this recipe
1 1/2 lb of ground beef
1 (6oz) box of stovetop stuffing mix
1/2 cup water
2 eggs
1/3 cup ketchup
Mix first 4 ingredients in large bowl
pat in 8x8 pan
spread a thin layer of ketchup on top
bake 350 for an hour
The only issue is it takes an hour AND I don't have all the ingredients so I have to go to the store (total petty problem issue)
