Re: PGAL weekly check in 11.28.16

  • 2. how far along are you? EDD? Team green pink or blue?

    34 weeks, 1/9/17, team blue!

    3. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)

I have been a lot more uncomfortable this last week. Baby is getting huge and I don't have much room left for him. I am also having some trouble with constipation, and even though the Zantac helps a lot I occasionally still use tums.

I wrote about this on last weeks thread but it was one of the several that got deleted when TB lost its mind. Last Wednesday at 33w2d I lost a good chuck of my mucus plug and was having painful contractions every 5-10 minutes. Saw my OB that afternoon for an NST and a fetal fibronectin test an she did a cervical length check and a dilation check. NST was great, and my constractions had calmed down by that point but she put me on procardia to hopefully prevent anymore. The FFN test came back positive so we did steroid shots just in case. My cervix was down to 2.8 from 4 three weeks ago but she said that wasn't pathologically short and she could barely get a finger tip in so I'm not really dilating. She told me not to go on bedrest because it wouldn't help in my case. But to definitely let her know if I see any blood or the contractions come back. So we are just carrying on business as usual. I've continued to lose my plug over the last several days but the procardia and increasing my fluids has helped keep the painful contractions at bay.

    4. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)

given whats been going on I am oddly calm - I'm really glad we got the steroids in and I'm thankful the medicine seems to be working.

    5. When is your next appointment?

Tomorrow for a regular two week appointment.

    6. Rants/raves/whatever

our nursery is finally coming together. Dresser and crib are put together so I can start really organizing. Otherwise all we have left to do is put up the shelves, hang the shades and I want to make curtains.

Rant: we bought pull down shades at lowes and we told them to cut them to 33.5 inches - we tried to hang them last night and they were too short. We measured our windows for the 3rd time - they are definitely 33.5 inches across. We measured the blinds and they cut them to 33.25 inches. So now I have to take them back.

    7. Anything else on your mind?

    8. GTKY - does your family celebrate a winter holiday? Have you started decorating for it?

We celebrate Christmas, hopefully today I'll do a little decorating today but our tree is in a high storage cabinet so DH will have to get it down after work.

    3. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)
Just mildly uncomfortable really. My biggest complaint is my super swollen ankles, that nothing really seems to be helping with - I think to end solution is to have a baby, ha. Otherwise, heartburn, constipation, and all the lovely things that are to be expected this late in the game.

    4. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)
Pretty good! I think I am more anxious about getting the nursery finished at this point. Also starting to get a bit nervous that I won't actually be able to handle a natural birth.

    5. When is your next appointment?
Tomorrow - last of my two-weekers!

    6. Rants/raves/whatever
I spent some serious quality time with my sewing machine this weekend. Made a crib sheet, diaper changing pad cover, travel wet bags for cloth diapers (5 small, 1 medium, 1 large), and two diaper pail liners. I'm going to finish up tonight (FX) with my Bobby cover that will match the crib sheet and pad cover, then make some little head bands. THEN my craft table can leave the nursery, and we can finish everything in there!

    7. Anything else on your mind?
I am so, so ready to be finished with work.  I have to get my grant submission in by Thursday, but after that, I am pretty much home free until baby comes!

Also, I am super excited to wrap presents - it's one of my favorite holiday things to do! Normally, I do a fun wrapping that requires a lot of work (last year was chalkboard wrapping paper with the "bows" and "tags" drawn on with chalk), but this year, I've just bought cute paper and ribbon. I'm excited to get to wrap quickly this year!

    8. GTKY - does your family celebrate a winter holiday? Have you started decorating for it?
We celebrate Christmas. H was super kind and put up our tree this past Friday. I still have a couple of  little decorations to put up around the house, but other than we're pretty much decorated.

34+6, Jan 3, GREEN. Everyone seems to think we're having a boy, based on how I'm "carrying." I'm starting to feel more like it's a girl now, though.

    3. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)
Mostly pelvic/groin pain at this point. I feel less mobile, which I really dislike. I stopped working out after I was admitted about a month ago, and I don't know if it's because of that, or if it's just to be expected at this stage. I'm hoping if I make it to 36 weeks I can increase my activity level and go on walks. I just don't want to push it at this point.

    4. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)
Pretty good. I feel good about being 35 weeks tomorrow!! I have no idea what my cervix is doing, and frankly, I don't care to know. I'm hoping to make it to 37 and then 39. Anxious about labor and delivery (see below).

    5. When is your next appointment?

I have 2 NSTs this week. Next week I have my 36 week appointment.

    6. Rants/raves/whatever
Rants: I think I discovered some small stretch marks on one side of my stomach. It made me irrationally upset. I know I'll get over it. Also, I've had a dark line across my neck for a while now...just changing pigmentation from the pregnancy. Recently, like within the last 2 days, my whole neck is looking dark and the skin is very dry. I guess I am just feeling like a mess.

My rave is its been over over a month since I was admitted and we are going strong and closing in on week 35!

    7. Anything else on your mind?
I am getting nervous about natural labor as well, @cjs260. Maybe we can start up a check in on that again. The December board has one and I read that frequently. Everyone I know IRL has done an epidural and has told me that they felt like couldn't have done it without it. It's really not helping me. Also, I have a fear about labor being difficult and then being too exhausted to push when it comes time and then needing some kind of emergency procedure at that point bc I won't be strong enough. My fear is not about pain, it's about my body potentially failing me or me not being strong enough depending on how long my labor is. We didn't wind up doing any long-term child birth classes besides the one offered by my hospital. We have a doula and she'll be working with us on different positions, etc. when we meet with her in a week or so. I have been reading a lot on it. I guess maybe I feel unprepared? Or perhaps I'm just being too hard on myself.

    8. GTKY - does your family celebrate a winter holiday? Have you started decorating for it?
We (my husband did most of it with me supervising/directing) decorated the inside of our house on Friday and we are pretty much set. I think it looks great. I'd like to do some outside lights, but I don't know if we'll get around to it. We have a wreath on the door at least for the outside :)
  • 2. how far along are you? EDD? Team green pink or blue?
    31+3, Jan. 20, blue

    3. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)
Huge. Tired. Hungry and full at the same time! Had a rough day Saturday, went out to the store and started getting horrid RLPs or maybe it was where he was sitting, but it was just bad. Had to come chill on the couch and stayed very tired the rest of the day. Much better yesterday!

    4. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)
Good. I'm more worried that he's going to come earlier than my Jan. 20 date. I don't know why.

    5. When is your next appointment?
    Next week

    6. Rants/raves/whatever
I've entered the evey one saying "You're going to pop!" "You're not going to make it!" blah blah blah stage. I have to f'n months to go people. I'm trying to select who I snap on very carefully....

    7. Anything else on your mind?
I am soooo looking forward to being off work for 1.5 wks for Christmas. It's what's keeping me going.

    8. GTKY - does your family celebrate a winter holiday? Have you started decorating for it?
Christmas, which has always been my favorite holiday, but with a little one (4yo DS) it just gets better and better. We decorated this weekend and it makes me so happy. DS even has a little tree for his room. It's tacky but he loves it.

    3. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)
HUGE.  Ready to be done with pregnancy.  I'm so tired and breathing is hard- I just feel like no matter how deep a breath I take I am not getting enough oxygen.  I'm out of room for this little one, and don't know how I'm going to make it through 6 more weeks.

    4. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)
    I'm pretty calm.

    5. When is your next appointment?
    Wednesday the 30th

    6. Rants/raves/whatever
2 more weeks of commuting to work!  I am so excited- I will work from home for 1/2 a week after these 2 weeks are done, but WFH is fine it's the commute that is getting to me.

    7. Anything else on your mind?

    8. GTKY - does your family celebrate a winter holiday? Have you started decorating for it?
We celebrate Christmas.  My husband works in retail, so he had to work everyday and I did some cleaning but mostly just relaxed all weekend.  I would like to have the apartment professionally cleaned before LO gets here- and am thinking I should do it before I put up the tree- so maybe I'll see if I can schedule that for next weekend or once I'm not commuting anymore and then I'll decorate after.  We have all of our decorations in our storage unit- and are thinking about buying a new tree since DH didn't want to break the tree down last year and put it in the unit completely unwrapped- now we are freaking out about bugs and spiders living in the tree- so it's probably time to buy a new one.  I would love a real tree, but the cats would never let it stand the entire holiday season (if they let it stand throughout the first night it will be amazing).

  • @cjs260 I need some of your motivation. I finished up sewing some burp rags Saturday and I've got the fabric for changing pad covers and bassinet sheets just waiting on me.

    2. how far along are you? EDD? Team green pink or blue?

    31 weeks 5 days. January 25, blue!

    3. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)

So f'ing tired. I had a 4 day weekend and I still feel like I'm too tired for work tomorrow. I've been having a lot more BH (I think, at least). Not painful but uncomfortable. And crazy itchy skin.

    4. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)
Yesterday was my stillborn daughter's birthday, so it's been a hard week. But it feels like a relief somewhat to be past that and to have made it through.

    5. When is your next appointment?
Thursday for a growth scan and my 32 week appointment

    6. Rants/raves/whatever
Starting to feel like my husband is not quite on board with my natural birth plan. I keep asking him to read and learn things about pain management techniques and practice and he just doesn't understand why I don't want an epidural. BECAUSE IT DIDNT WORK LAST TIME. Sorry I want to be prepared.

    8. GTKY - does your family celebrate a winter holiday? Have you started decorating for it?
We put up all our inside decorations for Christmas last night and are working on the outside lights this week.
