December IUI

I guess I'll go ahead and get this month started. Let's talk Christmas!! I love this time of year.

What's your favorite colors to decorate with?

Thoughts about that starry night thing that shines lights onto your house vs. regular hanging lights?

Favorite place to go/favorite tradition?

I hope for lots of distractions this season to help us stay stress free for our December IUI's!!

  • Thanks for starting this @OGreat! I also love this time of year.

I love all lights, but think I like traditional lights a little more than the night light thing (although I know that's much easier to use).
Some of my favorite traditions are driving around to see the lights, baking cookies, and decorating the tree to Christmas music.
At least we have lots of distractions this month!

  • Good morning!  CD 12 for me.  I am going in tomorrow morning for monitoring and then IUI #2 will be scheduled this week.

I decorated our apartment for Christmas yesterday as soon as I got back from traveling for Thanksgiving.  I like simple white lights with gold and silver mixed in.

I agree @OGreat I'll be so busy in the next month hopefully that will make the TWW seem a little faster!

  • Ugh. Looks like December IUI won't happen for me. Went in for baseline this morning and I have 6 cysts!! I only had 1 last time and it made me sit out 3 months!! Hopefully 6 won't take that long?

Good luck everyone! I hope I don't see you again because it will mean you've all had BFP by the time I'm back in the game!

  • @ogreat they went ahead Bc the cysts were deflating so they thought they'd be able to distinguish the new follicles. And I'm benched (well, I'll prob still try naturally) simply Bc there will probably be too many cysts at that point for them
to see what they are working with follicle-wise. So I'll have to take a medication break. But then I'll be back! (Of course this is all so long as I get BFNs and/or a TW situation- both of which happen to me regularly so I have no real cause to believe this time will be any different- but we soldier on).

What's your favorite colors to decorate with?
As I get older I prefer the red/green combo. I like it to be a more vibrant green though!

Thoughts about that starry night thing that shines lights onto your house vs. regular hanging lights?
I thought the projector type lights were cool at first, but I'm not sure I'm into it anymore. I am putting up strands of lights this year, multi-colored! So fun!

    Favorite place to go/favorite tradition?
Since getting married I've had to alter my traditions. But we do x-mas eve with my DH's fam and then xmas day with my fam. On xmas day we get up and head over to my mom's in the morning, in our Christmas jammies, to unwrap gifts with them. It's so fun! Oh and mimosas flow all morning. Maybe not this year, fx.

My best friend and I want to go on a tropical getaway together, hopefully in February, but i'm having such an internal struggle! What if I actually end up w/ a BFP? What if I am still doing IUI? If I am doing IUI, should I just count that month out because I may not be around for monitoring?

  • Helloooo. I've been mostly lurking the last few months but thought it might be time to intro myself.  I hope that it's alright that I join.  We don't have an infertility diagnosis but DH has issues with ED that make successful timing really difficult for us.  In September, we started seeing an RE and did an HSG, 2 SAs, blood work and genetic testing.  One of DH's SAs showed low morphology but the RE didn't seem concerned.  Since DH is able to provide samples on his own, the RE suggested that IUI would be a good fit.

I'm currently 13dp my first IUI and got a BFN so I'm likely going to be joining you guys here.

We're not the most festive bunch. The extent of our decorating is a wreath on our front door.

We don't have any traditions other than Christmas Eve service at church. We met at this church and we got engaged after Christmas Eve service so it's got sentimental value and is almost like a tradition.

  • @soontobeshrader - see what your RE/Clinic thinks! They just might encourage you to go - get away for a bit. They could also help you figure out if there's a "best week to go" for you. I would love love love to go away right now. Not sure what they are saying for the Zika thing right now though - my clinic is still asking us not to travel to those areas so, I'll be missing my sisters wedding in Mexico in Feb :(

But I agree - I've missed quite a few fun events because of what 'might' be. I'm thinking of booking something for an upcoming TWW, won't interfere with appointments and hopefully will help pass the time!

TW - my old boss booked a last-minute, 3 week trip after a MC not expecting anything, and she ended up travelling while 4-5 weeks pregnant. So you just never know! She was totally happy she went.

I agree it's really nice to follow along with everyone. I might be doing two IUI in the month of December if the first one this month (second total) which was yesterday does not work.

@JDW0325 I really hope that's a sign! I can't imagine a more wonderful Christmas present. Crossing my fingers for you!!!
  • Checking in for the Dec IUI crew. I started spotting today so tomorrow will be cd#1 for me. I'm looking forward to my baseline soon this week so we can get the ball rolling. I'm determined to stY positive this cycle and I think the holiday spirit is just what I need

I'm hoping for at least an IUI this month (the clinic said they will have days off around Christmas and can't do IVF). However, with my luck, I'm going to ovulate right on Christmas Eve or Day when the office is closed...it's hard to wait until January for the next step, after 2 failed cycles (one IUI and one IVF) behind me...
  • @JDW0325 Looks like my second IUI will be around the same time as yours! FX for both of us this cycle!!!

  • So, I just got back from monitoring and I have nothing. Not one single follie. I'm so disappointed. The next step is going straight to Gonal-F. I'm so upset with my body for letting me down. But maybe this will make me treat myself better? I am waiting to hear what my BW looks like before my RE makes the call on the Gonal-F.
The silverlining is that I can maybe still do an IUI this month, if my BW is ok. My RE trying really hard to keep my hopes up, so that's good.

  • Aww - sorry to hear that @soontobeshrader.

Silver lining: my doctor put me on Puregon (which I believe is similar to Gonal-F) last month and it worked great! I had the most and largest follies I've ever had on a monitored cycle. So hopefully that might be the ticket!

Also, if you're nervous, the injection was super simple - no pain at all.  :)

Hopefully IUI mid next week, and testing between Christmas and New years.  <3

One thing my doctor did note is that I seemed to have a cyst next to my ovary. She said it could be on/near the tube, or just hanging out, completely irrelevant. Has anyone heard of/had this before?
