B Complex- Stop taking it?

I posted this in the chatter, but I'm a little nervous about basically everything right now so hopefully you'll humor me. If you took a B complex while TTC are you still taking it? If you stopped, when did you stop? I'm taking 1000mg of B6 and B12 (to lengthen my LP), and I don't know whether to continue or if that's not recommended. I asked my doctor.... but... that's for another thread another day lol.

  • I am also taking b vitamins because I usually am deficient so I am interested to know the answer.

  • B6 is supposed to help with morning sickness and B12 helps you make blood. I believe they are both water soluble so if you take too much you will have brightly coloured pee.

  • I'm on a b complex for migraine prevention while pregnant (directed by neurologist).  OB said it was fine yesterday.  What did your OB say?
  • My OB prescribes a B complex (Folbee Plus) to me during pregnancy

  • My doc actually had me start unisom and B6 for my morning sickness (has helped a ton!). I know that what I am on is completely safe during pregnancy. I know nothing about the b12 and would put a call in to my doc (I'm sure it's fine, but just to double check)

I also take unisom and b6 for morning sickness  and did last time no problem. I also take a liquid b complex sometimes and from what I understand it is at the least not harmful in the correct dosage and possible helpful but as always call your OB and check!

  • I stopped taking my B complex but for no particular reason really.  I initially started taking it and an Omega to help with mood support for my anxiety disorder.  I still take my B12 separately however because I have been historically low for most of my blood work in the past.  It helps with the brain and nervous system, again to help combat the anxiety.  It's also used to form new red blood cells.  I don't see it being an issue continuing to take it but check with your Dr just in case.  (If I recall, I believe mine said it was fine to continue it)

  • Thanks ladies. My OB is... well I'm deciding on a new one. She said "vitamins are fine". But she also said she knows nothing about it.

When dealing with pharmaceuticals it is always an option to speak with your pharmacist. Sometimes they can be more helpful than your doctor.

  • @Jsweet  Great idea! I didn't even think of that. That's what I'm going to do!
