Symptoms Thread 11/9

Any new symptoms? Any old ones that just won't go away?

For me, I'm feeling way better this week. Headaches are regular but usually at the end of the day and maybe made worse by stress.

Lots of aches and stretching pains. RLP. Lately I've been sleeping through the night instead of waking up to pee but when I do wake up in the morning, I feel like I'm going to explode. It's pretty painful.

Otherwise I'm grateful to be able to eat now. Even the nasty taste in my mouth is gone.

Exhaustion is slowly starting to subside and feeling a bit more energy! Getting some serious RLP starting up though, no fun

I have been having some groin and hip pain...and lately after I have been on my feet for a long period of time (I am a teacher...so this is daily) I get some pains in my pelvis...and I feel like it is WAY too early for this! I have hardly gained any weight and my bump is still miniscule...anyone else have pain like this, this early on? *I have a doctor's appt next week so I plan to talk to her about it then.

Just experienced round ligament pain while emptying my bladder... at least that's what I think it was... that was weird!

@elgie I noticed at a football game this past weekend that when I am standing for long periods of time, I have some shooting pain near my cervix. When I sat down it went away almost immediately. I just took it as a sign that I needed to rest, but I'm going to ask OB about it next week just to make sure!

@elgie I have a lot of pain in my pelvis. So I'm not sure what you mean. I have rlp suddenly, lightning crotch, but a lot of just general pain when I'm walking, standing, crouching, on both sides of my pelvis. To the point that at the end of the day sometimes it hurts just to get up and let the dog out and I want to just lay there on the couch without moving. My bump is still small too but I guess I just attributed it to growing pain.

Still have way more energy than I did in first tri.  It feels great to be so productive.  I'm not sure if what I'm feeling is RLP, growing pains, or what but I have been having discomfort down low.  Kind of like a pressure.  Guessing it is normal now that my bump is growing a little.

@schef070911 @hgrich @wagnerw You ladies have no idea how much better this makes me feel. As a FTM I had no idea these discomforts could begin so soon. I assumed these (minus the RLP) were late 3rd tri symptoms and that maybe I had done something wrong (I'm a runner...and wasn't sure if I was aggravating it with my running or making something worse) Dr. Google is never my friend! Thank you ladies!!

Luckily most of that pain has subsided with taking it easy this week...I haven't ran at all and hope to reintroduce it slowly! I have started some pelvic floor exercises to hopefully help!

HOWEVER...it appears as if my morning sickness (all day sickness) has returned with a vengeance. I was violently throwing up yesterday, in the middle of the night, and this morning. I can't seem to keep anything down. I don't know if it's morning sickness...the flu...or something else? Anyone have experience with this?

Gums hurt. I also have a canker sore. Anyone know if I can use peroxyl? It's alcohol free. The active ingredient is hydrogen peroxide. It's used to treat mouth wounds and sores.

@ebloom3  do you swallow it or just swish it around?  I would guess ok to swish...

I'm much less nauseous this week! Yay!

But I had Braxton Hicks all day.  Like, every 10 minutes at least.  They don't hurt yet but man, I hope this doesn't last. I don't know if I can can deal with contractions for the next 5 months. They started at 26 weeks non-stop for me last time.

@HGRich sounds a lot like my SPD. I was just diagnosed with it last week.
    On that note...

    Pain. My symptom is pain.

OK, I'm having a lot of cramping and I thought that would be a no no at this point in pregnancy. I get tons of tightening and rlp, that's totally different and I've had it with my first baby, too. But this starts as a cramp, an actual menstrual like cramp and I can't say it's subtle. Then it wraps around my lower back. This is how my labor with DD started at 39w2d. When I went for my 18 weeks scan they specifically asked whether I was having cramping or not and when I said yes they made a note of it for a doc to follow up. My doc was out so another just said it's no reason for concern because my cervix is long and closed. Anyone else have this? I'm a bit paranoid this time around. I had no issues with DD, this time, it's a little thing here and there all the time. Thank goodness so far everything has turned out ok, but it makes me uneasy.

@MrsBakes Is it possible that it could be Braxton Hicks?

I didnt have any symptoms in my first trimester (didnt even know I was pregnant till almost 12 weeks). The last 2 weeks it like my symptoms are just now starting. Nausea, exhaustion, and lot of pelvic/groin pain.

@MrsBakes I am having the same. as a FTM I don't really know what Braxton Hicks are but for a couple days now, my uterus gets really tight for like 30-45 seconds for probably 10 minutes and then goes away.  I drink a ton of water every day so I don't think it could be from dehydration. my next appointment isn't until 11/28 but definitely makes me nervous, especially since I have placenta previa still.

    @KirstinH88

    @Taylor72

Braxton hicks for me are usually the same just tightening. But this is actually painful and it feels just like a menstrual cramp. That's why I'm confused. Especially I was told I should not be having cramps. I'm going in on the 22nd again and will ask then once more.

    thanks ladies!

@mrsstuessy Interesting. I guess I assumed it was normal but I had it really bad early in pregnancy, then it went away for a few weeks, and now it's back. I've asked about it at appointments but they just looked at me like I didn't know what I was talking about. I guess if I ask about it by name next time I'll get further. Thanks.

Ok this seems awkward. But this week I've started leaking I guess colostrum. As a FTM I didn't know it could start this early. But it really hurts. And then (TMI warning), it dries on my bra and then if my bra shifts it rips it off and hurts so badly. Help! What can I do and is it normal that it would be happening already? (17+6). Thanks.

@HGRich I think I have been leaking as well, except not as much as it seems you are. Mine just kind of dries and crusts on my nipples...  :#

I'm starting to get what looks like freckles on my areolas... so that's new

@HGRich and @SDSwenson both normal, just your body prepping to nurse. I'd suggest cotton or disposable nursing pads to help with the discomfort. HG, I assume the pulling is the painful part? Not the leaking aspect? That shouldn't be painful, especially now.

So, after a few weeks of being puke free, I threw up this morning. My stomach muscles just felt like they tore apart. They've been hurting for weeks in my belly button area, but dang! Afterward, I laid down and my belly button was sticking out, so I touched it and it made what can only be described as a farting noise. No clue why it made the noise, but it was so weird.

@KirstinH88 and @herewegrow thank you. Yes it's just the very tips of the nipples so I assume it's just the pulling off of what's dried. Ew. But I brushed against them in my sleep last night and it hurt so much it woke me up. Hoping it doesn't hurt this much the whole remainder of the pregnancy.

@HGRich if I were you, I'd take it as a sign that you are going to make tons of milk!!  That's so awesome that your body is already making food for your baby.  There are lots of options for pads so if one is still uncomfortable, try a different one. When I was nursing, I went through periods when my nipples were so sensitive I had to wear a really flimsy sports bra to bed so they wouldn't get rubbed as much.

I don't mean to be a downer, but as a doula and friend to lots of people with people, leaking in pregnancy is no indicator of milk supply. @cafedisco I'm sure you were just trying to help @HGRich look on the bright side. But, when I was pregnant with DD I had absolutely zero leakage during my entire pregnancy, when it seemed like everyone else in the world did. It was actually starting to make me really nervous. I ended up with a decent supply that lasted us 20 month, until I choose to wean. So, that is entirely possible, as is leaking and then ending up with a less than ideal supply. The vast majority of people will have a milk supply that is enough for their baby, so there is really no reason to worry about it before hand. I just want to jump in and say you really have no idea what your boobs are gonna do, during pregnancy. I wish I had known that during my 1st pregnancy.

@mrsstuessy thank you. I was aware that leakage didn't indicate supply from my research on why my boobs were leaking already.  :D But I appreciated @cafedisco's sentiment and I hope I do have a good supply! I'm hoping to bf so I'm crossing my fingers all kinds of ways for good supply and good luck learning how.

my belly button has started to hurt. It hasn't popped out or anything so it's a little odd to me.

Totally understandable. I just know I heard things like that so much when I was pregnant with DD and it started to really freak me out. So, wanted to share for others who might also be similar to myself. Also crossing my fingers for you. I'm sure it will work out, it does for most people.

This week after eating I have had the feeling that the food is stuck in my esophagus (up high in my throat) almost like I need to throw up, but I am not nauseous. Anyone else experience this?

@elgie Yes! Not as much now, but it had happened and did happen a lot in early pregnancy.  I'm guessing the hormone that relaxes everything impacts that part of digestion.
