What's coming up this week? Any appointments you're nervous or excited about?

Any milestones this coming week or in November you're looking forward to?

Re: Appointments and milestones 11/5

  • No appointments until my anatomy scan the week of thanksgiving.
  • Loading the player...
  • I have two appointments in Nov, a regular OBGYN follow up and then towards the end of the month an echo US with my MFM. Our last appointment with the MFM went so well, I've been so happy. Of course I'm starting to get a little bit of the "omg they are going to find something wrong at the echo scan!" I'm trying to push those thoughts out of my head.
Also, husband and I are going on a babymoon in the middle of the month. Just for a few days, I'm looking forward to some time alone together but also super anxious because it's the first time we'll be away from our daughter (2.5) for multiple nights. She's staying with my mom who she loves and has a great relationship, but I'm still nervous.
  • My anatomy scan is Tuesday! It's the scan where the sh!t hit the fan last time and I found out our baby was likely going to die, so I'm pretty nervous about it. (Also have a midwife appointment that afternoon).

Have a great trip @Bok Bagok! We left our 2 year old for 5 nights this summer to go to Denver and it was hard - though he had a great time, of course. :)

  • @amwangel will be thinking about you Tuesday!!
  • Enjoy the babymoon @Bok Bagok'!

Let us know how things go on Tuesday @amwangel. Will be thinking of you.
  • No appointments this week and not until the 29th but I've been feeling the same twitchy/fluttery feeling down where baby is for the last few days so I guess the milestones I'm hopeful for is definite and regular movement.

I guess one victory is that I haven't felt the need to use my Doppler in five days which is the longest I've gone without it haha. Granted I saw baby girl on Wednesday but I'm still celebrating it.  :)
  • I go back for my 2nd U/S on Wednesday. Had my 1st one the on 10/22 (where I was supposed to be 7w 4d according to LMP) and they only saw the gestational sac measuring at 5w 4d.... so they did HCG levels over a couple days and said it was rising accordingly.... I'm super nervous, but FX that we actually get to see our little bean this week!

  • @BellaO21 how did your appointment go today?
  • i have appointment on the 14th, I feel nervous at all our appointments but this one and the one after are most nerve racking so far as we are approaching the time of our first loss.... i can't help but wait for bad news.
  • My next u/s app is on the 14th where we will find out if the little bean's heartbeat increased to a normal speed. :( so nervous. It was so amazing to see the baby in there and the flickering of the heart. We were confused when the tech said it was low. I need to stop googling stuff! Sending positive thoughts to @CAdreamin13, @ssnova, @amwangel

@ssnova and @Dobrovolskaya it's going to be a long and anxious weekend for you both. Will be thinking of you. Keep us posted. @BellaO21 let us know how yours went and you too, @amwangel!
  • Sorry - have been distracted by the current events and forgot to update!

I had my anatomy scan Tuesday and the MFM said there was nothing concerning. So, hooray!

Thinking later, I was concerned that it was only 2 days ahead, when 2 weeks earlier it was 5 days ahead. But the midwife said it's probably just fluctuating baby growth spurts or the position of the baby and not the beginning of placental failure again.

We didn't find the sex out, but the midwife said "him" so I think she let it slip. ;) (I'm preparing myself for LOTS of "Do you hope it's a girl??" questions from strangers since I have 2 boys. I can't wait to say, "I had a baby die at 21 weeks this spring, so I'm just hoping this baby lives." and make them feel bad. Heh.)

  • @amwangel hooray! That's great news. I'm sure a three day difference is not a big deal at all. Will they give you another ultrasound anytime to follow up and make sure things are going smoothly? Also I love that answer. After a loss any healthy baby is fine with me too! I also feel weird when people ask me if this is my first. I should say, "our first is in Heaven but we hope this will be our first on earth."

    Congrats on your maybe boy!
  • @amwangel congratulations on a good scan and your maybe baby boy :)
  • @HGRich Yep! I have monthly ultrasounds for the rest of pregnancy with an MFM. The "is it  first question is HARD. I feel like I'm leaving out Clare - a baby I gave birth to and held! She mattered! - but just saying "I have 2 at home." But I don't want to get into it when it still feels quite raw in a lot of ways.

  • Thanks, @Bok Bagok! You go to a MFM regularly as well, right? Can I ask what for?

  • @amwangel
I see one for multiple reasons.
    1. I'm 39
    2. Multiple losses
    3. I have an abnormal chromosome which can cause miscarriage and birth defects (rare).
    4. They saw three markers on the baby.
Currently everything is looking really good and the markers are all gone, karyotyping from the amino also came back all clear. I have an echo scan the 22nd and if everything looks good at that point I have the option of staying with the MFM for certain scans or going to my regular OBGYN full time.
  • @Bok Bagok  - Thanks for sharing! I'm glad all looks well - I had to see a perinatologist for my first son because he had some soft markers and possibly 'water on the brain' and some other things. Happily, he is a 100% healthy 6 year old now!
