Re: ** November Benched Thread**

  • @Rk4047 that's so unprofessional  :( I'm also a suspected partial molar pregnancy but I'm waiting on pathology to confirm..  They have a lot of info on "baby center" community and I read that one of the leading Doctors in the country, Dr. Goldstein out of Brigham and Women's recommends a 3 month wait sometimes if your HCG levels drop. Many women e-mail him for an expert opinion.

  • @Rk4047 Sorry you had that experience... these professionals should know better than that!

I hope everyone is hanging in there.  Sorry I've been flakey, but TB isn't working on my office computer, and I've also been trying to keep busy and keep my mind off of TTCAL.  I miss you all though and think about you ladies often!

  • @CAdreamin13 Sorry you are back here. Hopefully the holidays will help you get through this tough time.
  •  I am at 197 HCG @ week 9.  I am skipping blood test next week and waiting until December 1st to do a test hoping I will be less than 5.  Then hopefully only 2 more months of benched status.

Time goes by so slowly on the bench!
  • **Lurking** @justsuzie it sounds like they are finally coming down...hooray!! I sympathize with benched time going slowly (previously benched for 7 months).

  • CAdreamin13 Sorry for another loss.  :(  Hope you get feeling better to enjoy some of your Thanksgiving.

DH did his squirt in a cup at the end of last week and came back "Completely Normal."  LOL.  I had my CD3 tests done on Friday and they reported that went well also.  So we still need to get the kerotyping genetic tests done, and also my CD5-12 HSG dye test is scheduled for next Monday.

Hope everyone else is doing well!  Hope we can all have good Thanksgivings also!!!

  • @CAdreamin13 Sorry for another loss. I've had two in the last year, and we took a long time off from TTC for testing and then mental health, because like you, the thought of a third loss scares me. Hopefully you recover quickly from surgery and can enjoy Thanksgiving!

@dpjennifer Good luck with testing! I'm glad some things are coming back normal. The karyotyping can take 4-6 weeks to come back, as a heads up. I just wanted to throw that out there so you don't end up freaking out like me at week 3....

  • @RiverSong15 Thanks for the heads up!

  • @cadreamin13 I am sorry for your loss
  • @CAdreamin13 I'm so sorry you find yourself back here :( none of this is fair.

Afm-It's only been 3 weeks since my D&c but I had some bleeding the last couple days (not sure if too early for AF alread!) or just random bleeding? I dunno but was kinda crampy like AF. We should be getting our chromosomal testing back next week which will help determine how we move forward.

To those of you who have mentioned being scared of that third loss...I am right there with you, I absolutely can't imagine going through this again. But I just think how much I want a baby and how that joy will outweigh the fear in my heart of having a third miscarriage. So to all of you, I am sending my hope to you, we are all so strong even if we don't feel like it sometimes <3

  • 1. If you're new, introduce yourself.

I'm new here. I am 32, have just had 2 back to back losses at 20 weeks in April and November. If there's an award for worst 2016, I'd like to be considered.

    2. How is life on the bench treating you? Need to vent? Feeling OK?

Still deep in thick of grieving and "WTF who goes through this"?  We'll be benched until at least February, probably longer and perhaps forever. (I had 2 consecutive early losses in 2013, had a living baby after that)

    3. GTKY - Favorite Thanksgiving food. What's the one thing you HAVE to eat at Thanksgiving or the holiday might as well be cancelled?

Mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and stuffing. I need all three. Sometimes I make just those to have a mini thanksgiving at any time.

  • @amwangel I am sorry for your loss
  • Long story short...ectopic on 9/23.  6 shots of methotrexate.  My last blood test was on week ten post metho at 197HCG. (2 weeks ago)

2 weeks later: According to a wondfo negative pregnancy test I took today I should be under 25 (at least.)  They register up to 25mIU/ml.  It's going to take me at least 2 weeks to get an apt with the doctor about ttc again.  Should I start taking prenatals now, or is it detrimental to me if I am not quite at 0.  I want to load up for as long as I can in case we ttc after the recommended 2 cycle benched time.

I'm debating taking the prenatals now or not.  I really wish there was more information out there for us!
  • @amwangel So sorry for your losses. 2016 has sucked big time.  I hope that gives us hope for 2017.  I have a feeling that will be a good year.
  • @justsuzie Is there a reason you are not taking prenatals now? If you're TTC, it's recommended to start them at least 3 months before you get pregnant to help build up folic acid. Unless you were told not to take it because of the methotrexate?
  • @RiverSong15 I was told not to take them until I saw the doctor again.  And I can't see the doctor until my levels are at 0.  I think I will ask him for a prescription for folic acid since the metho depleted all of mine and we want to start ttc as soon as possible.  When I got the metho they said wait 2 cycles or 3 months after the last shot.  The CDC recommends that you start taking folic acid every day for at least a month before you become pregnant, and every day while you are pregnant.   So hopefully 2 months of it will be okay.  I decided not to take the prenatals until I have a blood confirmation that I am at 0.  Hopefully this Wednesday will be my lucky day!

  • @justsuzie  Rooting for you for this Wednesday !!!!

  • @SP128 Thanks!  I took a wondfo ovulation test and my line was as dark as the control.  So, if that's the case, then AF should be here in 2 weeks. Thanks again for the support.
  • I'm new here. Just had a d&c last Monday at 10+4, baby stopped growing at 9+1. We also had two chemicals in March and May this year.

I'm still just trying to process everything. We'll be benched for a while since it will be awhile for hcg to go down and then wait for AF. Dh isn't sure if he even wants to try again, but I feel like after some time to absorb everything, he'll be back on board with TTC. So for now, I will grieve and (not so) patiently wait for my body to get back to normal.

Even though it's past Thanksgiving, my favorite foods I have to have are my moms scalloped potatoes and cornbread casserole. Which are the only two things I even ate this year lol
  • @sjohns08 So sorry for your multiple losses.  I hope your stay here is short.  I am on the bench too, for at least another 2 months.  This is a great place for support with women that actually understand what you are going through.
  • Thank you ladies, @justsuzie  & @Hopefulmommy1980. <3 I sure hope 2017 is better. I don't want to even think about how much worse it could get!

  • 1. If you're new, introduce yourself - Hello ladies. I am unfortunately back here. Had my first MC in August at 8+1 and MC #2 a little over a week ago. I am of course sad to be here, but glad to be talking with an amazing group of supportive women.

    2. How is life on the bench treating you? Need to vent? Feeling OK?

Now that I have had a little over a week to process the second loss, I am surprisingly slightly better this time around. I have a first appointment with an RE next Tuesday and am hoping to get some answers and then hopefully try again. It is really hard that this MC is lasting awhile though. Still going a week and a half later, ugh...

    3. GTKY - I cannot have thanksgiving without my mom's stuffing! It is amazing!

@riversong15 - sorry for you extended stay. Hope we can both get our rainbows soon!

@dpjennifer how was your first appointment? Curious about mine next week. Hope you get some answers soon!

@TScalei - saw that you wrote you got some answers from an RE - mind sharing your experience?

@justsuzie - totally understand your frustration with the HCG dropping. Mine took forever last time and I am praying it is different (though unlikely) this time.

@uhlease13 - sounds like you and I are unfortunately pretty similar. I didn't feel as shocked this time (maybe because I was constantly worried about getting too attached ugh). I agree the waiting for next AF is so hard/long. It doesn't help when people around us get/are pregnant either. I feel like I see so many announcements on FB that I might deactivate it

@CAdreamin13 *hugs* totally understand about your apprehension trying again

  • @GG620  So sorry you are back.  I hope the RE can offer some insight.  It's so hard when things happen that are out of your control.  Best of luck to you in this shitty process!
  • @sjohnso8  Sorry you find yourself here and sorry about your multiple losses. Waiting for your body to get back to normal or just waiting for anything in this whole TTC is the pits.

@GG620  Sorry you are back.  I'm glad to hear that you have an appointment with a RE next week.  Not too long at all.  Hopefully there will be some answers.

  • @GG620 - I'm so sorry you are back here. I went to see an RE after 2 losses. She ran a bunch of blood tests and I had an hsg blue dye test where they basically check for any abnormalities in your uterus.Through the blood work it was discovered that I had a blood clotting disorder -plasminogen activation inhibitor which is causing my mcs. It is genetic but I don't know of anyone else in my family who has had it. When I do get pg I will have to be on a blood thinner and take a blood thinner shot. Without getting testing I more than likely never would have had a healthy pg so I'm very thankful that I went. Honestly just being proactive about it and having an RE listen to me and take what I went through seriously made me feel a lot better. Fx for you! Let me know if you have any other ques.

@GG620I'm sorry for your losses :( I hope your mc passes and you are able to heal and move forward. This all sucks. glad you/we are able to get support here.

Eta-we got our chromosomal analysis back, and found a genetic abnormality -trisomy 5 with this last loss - so we are unbenched and are just assuming that our first two (we obviously didn't test anything after the first) were just bad luck..really trying to stay hopeful that third time will be charm for us. Hoping that for all of us here.
