Anatomy scan & then rescan?

So I went in for a scan on Tuesday, and they just called me to ask me to come back and get more images taken. Of course they don't give any details. The previous appointment took a bit over 1 hour & baby was extremely active so hopefully it's just a problem with blurry pictures.

Has anyone else gotten a call like this? My pregnancy thus far has been uneventful (minus the extreme morning sickness from the 1st tri), so I'm of course now worried that they maybe saw something crazy..

They should have told you specifics if it was for a concern. I'm sure it's just to re-do some measurements they didn't yet because you have an overly active and/or stubborn baby

My doctors office does one anatomy scan at 16 weeks and another at 20 weeks for this reason -- it's just really hard to get all the measurements. Even after we finished the scan at 20 weeks, the tech was like, "we're done, unless the doctor wants some more images," and we waited while the doctor reviewed and was confident that we'd gotten good enough images of everything. My babies were both active but it was still hard to get pictures of exactly everything they wanted. I wouldn't worry.

I also would hope they'd inform you if they had serious concerns. Are you able to get ahold of your OB and talk to them about it?

My baby wasn't being cooperative when they were taking pictures of her brain...she didn't like the probe on her head lol. So before I left the tech called the radiologist to make sure she was satisfied with all the pictures. Of course she wanted more pictures of the brain so I quickly got re scanned for that. I'm sure they just need some more shots of things....my OB said they wouldn't let me leave without talking to me if they saw something concerning.

Postint again//I need a repeat too-but not a repeat scan, a follow up to check on an issue. I would guess if you had a problem they would schedule another one in a few months to check on the issue--not have you back for the anatomy scan.

Thanks everyone! Just got nervous when I got that call. I'll call my OB just to check in and see what's up.

They should have told you why, but I'm sure it's nothing that's wrong - just some measurements they couldn't get. I'm going in for a second scan - a week after the first. In my case the baby was face down and they couldn't get all the pictures of the heart they wanted because of the shadow from the spine. After some amusing attempts to get them to flip over - the tech had to give up and tell me they'd probably call me back in. She said it's pretty common. I had no idea how long that appointment was going to be! I was in there for about an hour and was kind of sore by the end, but report from the first scan let me know that everything they could measure was on track.

I had this happen with my last pregnancy. In my case there were just a few measurements they didn't get the first time. They needed a few more measurements of the cord and placenta. It was just a 10 minute or so ultrasound the get those measurements .

I went for my Anatomy scan today and baby wouldn't cooperate. We didn't get to see the heart at all, because baby was positioned facing inward so we only saw the spine and back of head really..not one profile picture either which is the other one they need to get when I go back. My LO was just not moving, little kicks here and there but staying with the head tucked in. Because the tech knew right away that he didn't get any pictures he just rescheduled me in for Wednesday. With my first, she was super active and the tech did get all the pictures needed but some just not as clear as they would have wanted, and so I had to go back for another.

My baby wasn't cooperating either. She wasn't able to get a front view of the heart so I need a rescan for that measurement, but they told me I could just get it at my next appointment in 4 weeks.

I had to do this last pregnancy! The doctor wanted more clear views of the spine...baby just wasn't cooperative that day. Nothing was wrong, my doctor is just very careful.

Aw, thanks for asking! Yes - tech saw a cyst or two around/on my cervix which she mentioned at my scan. I honestly didn't even return my midwifes later call to ask full details about it- she just reccomend a re-check around 32 wks -have an appointment tomorrow so we'll chat about the details. I also had cysts on my placenta with my first pregnancy, and apparently it's very normal for all women to get them on and off in all your reproductive organs , you just don't know you have them till you get pregnant and have an ultrasound - 99% of the time

they don't effect anything... and the 1% they "may" "slightly" minimize babies growth a very very small amount... in my mind it's really not even worth time and $$ for another scan, so I may see if it's really necessary in her mind... BUT on the other hand, it's SO hard to not accept another appointment to peek at baby!!

I just had this happen , had my AS last week , seemed uneventful and routine but they called me yesterday for a follow up in four weeks for "poor imaging" . If that's the case why couldn't I come in anytime why wait four weeks ? Fingers crossed for healthy scans for both of us!

I am going for another scan next month too. The ultrasound tech did tell me though that she just didn't get all of the measurements/images that they needed so they would have me come back when I was a little further along.

Same as most of you. Too much wiggling and waving during our anatomy scan today so we have to go back in 2 weeks. The tech said everything looked normal and the heart was beating nicely, but it was too blurry in the still shots to get a good measurement. Also, our little man didn't want to turn so we couldn't get a profile picture of his face. Very uncooperative already. Not sure if this is a glimpse of what our future will be like...

also in the same boat. they weren't able to see enough of each babies heart valves even after 2 hours of scanning so they want me to go back on the 18th when they are a bit bigger to have a better look!
