Hello! DH and I have been TTC for about a year now. I had my first loss at 10 weeks April 1st and my second loss 9/2 at around 3-4 weeks. I do have hypothyroidism and my levels were high when tested during my second pregnancy. After the second loss I got some blood work done and found out I have a MTFHR (A198C and C677T) and prothrombin factor 2 gene defects. My OB referred me to an RE. Any one experience anything similar to the gene defects and what did your RE do? I'm so sorry we all have to be here.

Re: Intro (losses mentioned)

  • Hi and welcome! I don't have experience with those genetic conditions but I think there are a few on here who may be able to provide insight.  Good luck with your journey and I hope your stay here is short!

  • Hi! I mostly hang on the TTTC board but I have the same genetic defects you do- 1 copy of each.  My RE is the one who diagnosed me -he ordered tons of lab work (I had transferred care from another RE so I had done a lot of the standard testing -his was way different) he put me on a ton of supplements but also some pharmaceuticals for off label uses because my tumor necrosis factor (TNF) was undetectable, as well as lots of diet recommendations. After my TNF was in range he gave me an intralipid infusion and I am in my TWW. The MTHFR can be so overwhelming and confusing but there are a couple of facebook groups that I belong to for MTHFR & pregnancy you should join. There are not too many ladies here who are familiar. It can also be very individual treatment depending on your issues. If your dr suspects blood clots are affecting your pregnancy s/he may use a blood thinner. PM your name and I can add you to the facebook groups:)
    TTC since May 2013
    Mild PCOS, Compound Heterozygous MTHFR
No Folic acid/pharmaceuticals/supplements (too many to list- private message me if interested), IVIL infusion

@carterh33 I have MTHFR will be on lovenox and am taking Metanx (really important to not take folic acid as it cannot be properly absorbed by the body, you need methylfolate). (I'll also be on prednisone and do intralipids fyi). Like @lablover78 said - there are some Facebook groups floating out there that discuss these things. One I'm part of it Reproductive Immunology Support. Some links below. Good luck. xx

  • Hi welcome! I am also compound hetero mthfr. I am taking a prenatal with methylfolate, metanx, extra b12, extra b6, baby asprin and lovenox as well as other supplements. I also am taking synthroid for my thyroid. I would have your prolactin level checked as well because it is common with hypothyroid to also have this out of whack. Good luck to you, message me if you need any more info as it seems we have a lot of the same conditions:)
