Fall/Winter (16-17) Adoption Process

My husband and I just began on our road to adoption. I'd love to have a thread where we can chat with people in similar stages. Anyone in the process right now (Oct 2016)? Either just beginning, close to placement or recently placed?  I'd love to hear your stories and share advice!

As for me, my husband and I have struggled with infertility since we got married 2.5 years ago. We've turned to adoption to start our family. We met with the DCF agency but didn't feel it was a good fit for us. We attended an informational meeting with a private Christian agency on Sept 29 and felt it right away!!  We've begun the process and have already been approved for Home Study. We have our first in-person interview with the agency next Monday. I'm nervous of what they'll think of us, I want the first impression to be a good one! : )  Has anyone been through this? I'd love to hear how it went!

Good Luck. I've only checked out this board a few times. And have no experience just wanted to wish you luck.

@kyrgyzshan, we're in the wait for a match, currently.  We're working with a non-profit adoption agency affiliated with Catholic Charities, and so far it's been going well.  They're a smaller agency, so average wait times are 18-24 months, but who knows really how long it'll take.
