Multiples

Monitors

I am pregnant with three and was curious what monitor brand moms of multiples like.  I was thinking of getting one with two cameras so I can set one up to see two babies and one for the other depending on how the room is set up. Any brands in particular I should look out for or avoid?  Thanks!

Re: Monitors

  • We have the Motorola monitor that you can sync to your phone. We love it because we can peek in on them from the couch, or even if we are not home for a date night. i would highly recommend one that has a wireless monitoring option!

We have twins and have the Motorola WiFi set up on our ceiling. It's centered between the two cribs so sometimes they're both on camera at the same time, but most of the time they're at opposite ends. We pan back and forth if one is fussing or we want to check on one.
I didn't really want multiple cameras so I could look at both at the same time.
Eta- One thing I like about ours is I can access it on my phone and click out of it without shutting it down on my phone and still hear the monitor. So I can text or check something on the internet and still hear what's going on.

  • I'm a bit neurotic and specifically did not want a WiFi enabled monitor because of the recent stories of creepers hacking them and watching/yelling at babies. We went with an old school audio only and its been great for us. They have their own cry/voice so we can tell who is doing what.

  • I have a camera monitor that rotates and can scan the room. My trips are in different cribs and can check on all three from the monitor. This seems easier to me than multiple monitors!

  • We had just an audio monitor for about 8 months with the twins and it was perfect. We knew we had to go in if they were crying or fussing, so we didn't need the video. Once they got more active and independent, I wanted the video option to check their falling/staying asleep progress and to see the noise making culprit. We didn't want a Wi-Fi camera and we didn't want to spend a ton of money. We opted for the Summer Infant wide angle monitor with the 5 inch screen. It's perfect for our needs. It's not television resolution, but it's pretty darn good. Unless you have crazy high ceilings, even the wide angle will only capture two full cribs, but it can cycle up to 4 cameras.
  • We have Nest cams to sync to our phones (our wifi is on major lockdown, I'm not concerned about hackers) they actually sell a 3 pack on Amazon, they're pricey but the 3 pack is like buy 2 get one for $50
