IF Check-in Week of 10/17

edited October 2016 in June 2017 Moms
Hello everyone and welcome to our first official IF check-in! I decided to do this check-in similar to how the T-TTC board does it, just because I really like the way it is done over there. I will tag those who participated previously and include treatment and EDD. Since EDD wasn't part of last week's thread, I went ahead and included those that I could figure out from your signatures. If you have a ? next to your EDD, please let me know what it is so that I can include it!

To be added to the check-in, here are a few questions for you to answer:

1. What is your EDD?
2. How long did it take you to get your BFP?
3. What is your diagnosis?
4. What is your treatment/history?

  • Hello everyone!

    1. What is your EDD? June 21
    2. How long did it take you to get your BFP? 12 months
    3. What is your diagnosis? PCOS
    4. What is your treatment/history? Tried clomid and trigger alone for a few cycles and then switched to Femara, trigger, and IUI and got my BFP!

GTKY: It's still really early so I'm not having many symptoms. I did gag when I tried to eat my yogurt, which I have every morning for breakfast, so looks like I'm going to have to find something new!

Cravings: Cheese. Soup. And sweets. I haven't really craved sweets in a couple of years since I cleaned up my diet and cut the empty calories. I've really been craving sweets though (candy, cookies, donuts, cake, cobbler, pie, etc.). Normally my go-to for a sweets craving is dried fruit or maybe some fresh fruit and a small bowl of yogurt or something. But that just isn't working for these sweets cravings.

Aversions: I haven't found too many aversions yet but one I've noticed is the veggie sub I normally order. It's no meat; just black olives, mushrooms, onions, green peppers and cheese in a wrap. And for whatever reason just thinking about eating one makes me feel a bit sick. I discovered that last week when my husband wanted to do subs and I agreed thinking "I'll just order the veggie one so I don't have to worry about deli meat" and then couldn't eat it.

  • @brij2006 I have been craving fresh fruit as well, but I think it's also partially my brain saying that it is good for baby!

@ClaireCF Welcome and congrats on having success with your first IUI!

QOTW: A few days ago I developed my first real aversion to eggs. I become instantly nauseous if I am anywhere near them. And then last night I had my first intense craving: a big juicy cheeseburger. DH was all about getting burgers for dinner because they are his favorite food :) This craving still hasn't gone away and I would be perfectly happy with burgers again tonight. But alas, I will wait, at least a few days before I have another one.

  • @NamelessAria Oh yes, the sweets. I have been craving those like crazy... totally forgot about that. Give me all the cake, muffins, cookies, aghhhhhhhh.... A few days ago I had to make a very tough decision to limit my sugar intake because it was getting out of control.

  • @wifeinraleigh28 thanks for starting!  As always, your organization skills boggle my mind!

QOTW: I'm in this weird stage where I'm hungry constantly, but nothing sounds appetizing.  I'm only 5w5d and nausea with my first two pregnancies didn't kick in until around 6-7 weeks, but my body is starting to give hints that it is looming (eg queasy when I brush my teeth, need something in my stomach, can't eat much at once).
  • QOTW:  Aversions come and go, usually at dinner time in the evening I have to force myself to eat a small meal because nothing looks good.  Craving salty chips chips and more chips (but that's nothing new).

  • @brij2006  I guess if you are going to have food cravings/aversions those are the healthy ones to have.

I  haven't really had any new cravings/aversions. Just the ones I had before pregnancy. (I am such a picky eater.) I didn't really have any with DS either.  My big thing this time is how much my boobs hurt.  I actually had to make my hubby catch them last night when I was pulling my sports bra over my head.

  • My cravings and aversions change on a daily basis. The only aversions that are really sticking with me are chicken and fish. This is unfortunate because my DH enjoys eating healthy (minus his late night sweet tooth) and doesn't like to eat red meat very much. Steaks and hamburgers have not sounded bad yet. It's going to be interesting if this sticks through the pregnancy because we will be arguing on what to fix for dinner.

  • I am having a hard time eating anything these days! I have no appetite, and even when I am starving, nothing sounds good. So I guess I have an aversion to everything haha! It's so different than my last pregnancy where I craved sweets from the very beginning and put on 13 lbs in the first tri. I've lost maybe 7 pounds so far already. Doc isn't concerned, but it would be nice to have my appetite back so I can have some energy!

  • 1. What is your EDD? 6/13

    2. How long did it take you to get your BFP? A year with IUI's. This was my third IUI. I tried to conceive when I was married a long time ago but never did. I've also tried adoption but it didn't work out either. Finally looked into fertility treatments again & pursued IUI with an awesome doctor with an amazing staff.

    3. What is your diagnosis? PCOS, Hypothyroid, & pre diabetes

    4. What is your treatment/history? Three IUIs. Third times a charm!!

QOTW: Any new food cravings/aversions this week? No but some days im
more hungry than others but im
not having any nausea or food aversions.
  • Not much new here. First US tomorrow and just hoping to see that little heart beating!

QOTW-No real cravings or aversions yet. Honestly just kind of feeling blah about food in general.

  • I've been craving salsa since before I knew I was KU, but that has sort of died down the last couple of days.  I haven't had any true aversions, yet, but I had a really hard deciding what to eat for lunch today.  Nothing sounded good.  I brought my lunch, but I couldn't bring myself to eat it.

  • QOTW - I've been craving protein heavy foods like hamburgers, tuna salad and sausage. I've also been enjoying fresh veggies and salad. I am not usually a big salad eater. I haven't had a huge craving for sweets yet. I've been craving beer, LOL and I don't even really like beer!

  • @lukafoo74 I looooooove tuna but I've been avoiding due to mercury. But honestly I don't think I need to avoid it cold turkey like I have been. What is everyone's thoughts on that? I read an article yesterday that said the fat in tuna is really good for you during pregnancy and then later in the same article it said to avoid fish with mercury! I am big time missing my tuna sub from Which Which... I really hate my pregnant lunches these days!

@cateyes543 How did your ultrasound go?!

  • @wifeinraleigh28 I read that it's good to eat fish during pregnancy for the Omega 3s, but to go with a low mercury fish like tilapia or salmon.

Ditto.  Definitely avoid high mercury fish, but salmon in particular is great for you during pregnancy (and in general).

    **triggers**

Hey guys, sorry I havent been around too much lately. I had my first ultrasound on Monday the 17th and was 7w5d at the time. They found a fuzzy gestational sac with no visible fetal pole, yolk sac or baby in it.

Basically, the specialist they had sent me to (for their super u/s machines) said he was pessimistic about my pregnancy but he'd like to see me back in a week  to see if anything had changed. I just found out that this was move to Wednesday of this week instead of Monday. The problem is the sac he saw was fuzzy, he said there was stranding or striations that were bouncing off the ultrasound waves, not letting us see what was inside. I suppose this technically means there is still hope, but no one was quick to provide any.

So, until Wednesday I'm preparing for the worst and trying very hard to deal with the loss and the thought of starting this process over again. I've been googling when I'm feeling stupidly optimistic and finding mostly sketchy information and a lot of scared women who are in a sort similar boat. I've found a few miracle stories about women who didnt see anything at 7 weeks, went back at 8+ and there was magically a baby. However, if I've learned anything during the last 2.5 years is that miracles arent really my thing, so. yeah.

Anyway, I'll keep you guys updated either way and best of luck to everyone in this thread. You deserve the world.

@Cythe Let's wait to hear what they say on Wednesday. I know it's been a long journey and it's very difficult.  I'll be thinking of you.

QOTW: Any new food cravings/aversions this week?
I crave anything I see or read on the Internet that is related to food.  The craving doesn't last long though.  I have been wanting mac and cheese and finally got it yesterday.  It was too gooey and cheesy I only took one bite and was grossed out.  Ice cream was my weakness before pregnancy.  I can eat ice cream everyday and will eat it at least once a week.  Now, I'm not into it at all.
