Re: Weekly Bitch Fest 10/17-21

  • Thanks ladies, my boss already has my maternity leave letter since June. So he knows the plan. She knows the plan. Not going to let it stress me out, she created this situation, she can deal. Just hate being on bad terms with someone you have to work with everyday.

  • I'm tired of heartburn from everything I eat.  I woke up two nights ago with the worst heartburn of my entire life. I seriously thought I was dying from a fire in my esophagus. Thankfully I have Tums chewy delights that took care of it long enough for me to fall back asleep but the heartburn this second time around is annoying.

@hayhay87 one of my fears! Glad you had food beforehand or during!

  • You guys! So many stressful things happening on the board this week, definitely seems more than usual. Some sort of fairy dust needs to be sprinkled over all our lives...

I'm getting sick for the first time since getting pregnant and it really is appallingly sucky. Also, pregnancy brain took away my ability to multitask and prioritize,  which is most of what my job entails. People come to me with new tasks and I'm literally unable to think about how to handle it.

But on the plus side, my mom is visiting so hooray for no need to make dinner for an entire week :)
  • @christac1010 Oh she sounds like a real treat! We had one in our class with DD that asked the most bizarre questions, including, "Can I decline a C-section even if the doctor deems it necessary?" The woman leading the class said, "Well, technically yes, but usually in those situations there is a good reason," and she followed up with, "Would I be able to decline in an emergency situation?"

Everyone just sort of stared at her, and then the teacher said, "Well, in all the emergency situations I've been in, that's not something you'd want to decline. It's usually a life or death situation for both mom and baby,"

And then she said, "Well, I'm just really not a fan of surgery so I want to avoid it entirely," It made my head spin.

  • I am about to flip out on a few of my coworkers. I am already having a seriously hard time being motivated at work, but with them complaining about EVERYTHING all the time, it's even harder to be here. It would be one thing if their complaints were valid, but they are ridiculous and unfounded. Usually they are related to having to actually do their jobs.

Yesterday one of them was complaining that she had to stay an extra 15 minutes to wait for something. I almost lost it because who the hell cares? You have no children and you live less than 5 miles from our office. Deal with it! She always asks me, "Why do you put so much time into things?" Umm because I take actual pride in my work and I like doing a good job? GTFO!

And another one is always very preachy about religion and God, but she is so unbelievably rude to others that it makes me sick. She has a very specialized job, and needed something from my boss, but basically refused to give her all the information and the complained when what she got wasn't perfect. She has now spent the last 20 minutes gossiping about others and being really unkind.

They all work on ONE publication. Meanwhile, I work on FIVE! I am so sick of their complaints. If I wanted to, I could bury their complaints with just one of my days. I really love my job, but they make working in this office TERRIBLE! So here I sit, listening to my headphones all day long, not talking to anyone because I can't take it anymore.

  • @emy730 well that sounds fun. Just makes a sucky working environment. If everyone was cheerful and positive, it'd be a much different experience. Keep your head up and think positive!! Even though I am sure you are ready to strangle them. I would be lol

  • @underthesea e has become super naughty this week. She turns 2 in a week. Are you waiting on molars? I'm hoping and praying for those badboys before January.
  • Our holiday schedule was just released and I'm working Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Neq Years Eve. 7p-7a. And we already bought tickets to visit DH family for Thanksgiving based on the fact that Thanksgiving normally falls in my day off and I had requested not to be scheduled MONTHS ago. We knew this was a possibility but it's still really bumming me out and I'm having a small pity party. I can change my flight to fly out the day after if I have to. I'm just very disappointed that my schedule even changed and that I'm working all three holidays. Poor me.

  • @KAShock Aw, I'm so sorry that really sucks you have to work all three holidays (are there a lot of others that have to as well?).  I would have a pity party too.  :(
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @KAShock That blows. I don't think you're wrong to have a pity party, especially since you requested that time off far in advance. Is it too late to explain that you had purchased flights already and switch up? Do you get paid OT for Thanksgiving? Maybe someone else is eager for that extra pay and willing to trade with you.
  • @KAShock what a total bummer. Who schedules a pregnant lady to work all 3 holidays??? Maybe they forgot about the request? Or like @canavara said, maybe hopefully possibly someone is willing to trade?
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @ashanne88 @canavara @AlicjaB thanks for joining my pity party!! I've reached out to my co-workers and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that someone wants the holiday pay!

  • @KAShock I'm pissed for you!!!

@ThePax89 yep we are still waiting for those molars. I'm so hoping they come soon but not holding my breath. She's been a late teether and then bam gets 4 at a time.
  • I had my 1 hour glucose test today and got a call that the test was inconclusive because my blood cells ruptured/a bad blood draw. Wtf?? I have to go do it again next week. So annoyed!!
  • @KAShock that mega sucks! No one should ever have to work all 3 of those days! Sending you good vibes that a coworker will take a shift

  • @KAShock that's terrible! Does anyone else have to work all three holidays? It seems like they would divvy them up. Fingers crossed others jump on the opportunity for OT!

We're getting molars over here and they're creating all the meltdowns all the time. She is so up and down, but I know it's her teeth because she'll be playing and then all of a sudden screaming OW teeth OW teeth!

    Omg..sorry ahead of time

So I've mentioned before that my sister passed away, her and I were very close. Well I chose to use her old dresser for the nursey instead of buying a new one. I talked to MIL about redoing it and painting it.

Well I hadn't heard from her about it, so I mentioned it to DH who says "oh she said it's done, it's white". I was like well hopefully she didn't plan on leaving it white because I talked to her about it several times and told her I wanted it pink, we talked about going to get paint together for it and everything. So I text her and say "hey did you wanna go get pink paint soon or do you think it will be a bit still"...she says "well you will have to come see the dresser it's white."..I responded "will the pink go over the white" and she said "you will have to see it"......

No i dont want to see it. I want you to do what we talked about. I purchased curtains based on the color we talked about. I got white curtains because the pink dresser will go under the window and I love the contrast. I don't get why she just hijacked the whole thing. I sent photos of what I had in mind color wise, we talked about it being pink, I'm just so annoyed. If she didn't feel like she could do what I asked she should've told me and I would've looked for someone to redo it and paid them to do it.

It's just so frustrating to have something in your head and have someone completely disregard everything you said.

Edited because I can't type when I'm mad.
  • @LeahNicole when it comes to doing the nursery, people just better stay out of the way with their ideas lol. Such a simple request and yet it can escalate to such a complicated problem.

I had my DHs uncle come by to do the closet and the trimmings, hes a contractor. He kept saying oh you should do this, or why did you do that instead. Ok Mr. Interior Designer, how about you have your own kid so you can design your own nursery??? OR, I am paying you to do this, not for your opinions! Plus he kinda sucks as a contractor. I cleaned the whole room and came home from work to the room and hallway just covered in white powder, cuz he didnt cover the work area with the plastic sheet I supplied. Thanks man. We have wooden floors too so yes, white powder in the cracks. My fish tank was cloudy for days with several water changes to it SMH....

Why cant people just listen?! Now I guess you just gotta go see that white dresser. Good luck! I know it's nice of her to do it in the first place, but now you gotta somehow navigate to a friendly solution of what you wanted in the first place.

  • We were suppose to have our gas tank installed in our new house this weekend and FINALLY be able to move in. We've been staying with my in laws since May and while I love them I need my own space back and need to get the new house ready.

DH calls me to tell me it won't be happening this weekend but next. This is after a 2 week delay already!! DH says no big deal, we can still stay in the house this weekend like we planned, we just won't have hot water or a stove top to cook on. Wtf DH! That sounds miserable on its own, let alone with a toddler thrown into that craziness!

I know one weekend isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things but right now my pregnancy hormones and I are losing it.

  • So, I think I mentioned before how much my dog was giving me trouble, and how every month he was going to the vet for something....

Well, long story short, he was going to the vet this month because during a routine exam, the vet thought he had a lump near his butt, this could be a couple of things, really none of them good. So we were told to get an ultra sound at an internal med vet (yes, they have such things) to see exactly what it is. We had to wait a week and worry about my pup. (He is 13 years old..) I had a Dr. appointment so H took him for his specialist appointment. The vet starts examining him and he literally was full of shit. He had a full anal gland and an impacted colon. They cleaned him out, giving him a puppy colonoscopy and he will be on stool softeners probably the rest of his life. It was a combination of him eating a ton of dirt and his bad back.

I am grateful, it wasn't more, but stupid dog!
  • @AmRe214 my dog has the same issue. Last summer he was trying to scratch his butt so much he ate a spot raw on his belly. Then we discovered his anal gland was full and popping out. Drained it and then a few months ago it happened again but it exploded this time...so fricken gross. Now we have to make sure his anal glands get released every time he gets his hair cut which is like 4 times a year
  • DD keeps waking up cold and crying in the middle of the night cause she knocks all her covers off. It's making me crazy cause it means I have to go all the way upstairs to cover her back up or listen to her fuss for a half hour while she tries to figure it out herself. By the time I cover her up, go pee and get back to bed I'm wide awake for at least an hour afterwards. Toddlers.
  • @katesmama0706 DS cannot figure out how to put his blankets back on either.  At least 4 nights a week for the last 2 months I get woken up to "Mammmmmmmaaaaa neeeeeed blankeeeets" loudly and repeatedly.  At least right now he's in our room while DH redoes the flooring in his room, so instead of whining about his blankets, he just crawls into our bed.  It wakes me up but at least I don't have to get out of bed.

@mudderbear unfortunately she hates them with a passion. They're genius, they just don't work for us, which sucks.

ETA: what really makes me crazy is all day long I watch her cover herself up with blankets while playing or if she's watching a show. She knows how, she just can't figure out how to do it while still in her preferred position of sleeping curled up on her belly. Oy.
  • My 21 year old BIL who currently is living in our basement decided that it was a good idea to have 5 people over at 2:30 in the morning!!! I literally could have killed him! I woke DH up and made him kick everyone out! I mean seriously it's Thursday night, I have to be to work at 8! And who has people come over at 2:30 in the morning?! I couldn't fall back to sleep until almost 5am and almost fell asleep during work twice! He is very smart to be avoiding me today!!
  • @katesmama0706 @ashanne88 we are in this boat too. DD isn't even 2 yet so I don't expect her to cover herself up yet, but I feel so bad if she gets cold. I have so many blankets in her bed now so any way she rolls she'll at least have warmth to lean up against haha.

  • Can I just bitch-vent for a moment about the weather? Don't get me wrong, I'm a proud Ohio girl and love living here but going from 80's and AC on Wed to 50's and heat by Friday has wreaked havoc on my pregnant body. I've had a sinus headache going to bed and waking up each morning. I went to bed last night at 8:30p because my headache was starting to turn into a migraine. Woke up this morning at 5:50a with a pounding headache, again. It's Saturday! Curse you Mother Nature! Made the big size cup of coffee this morning! Lol
