TTC After a Loss

Epiotic in left tube, should I be ttc on the right side from now on?

I had an epiotic on 9/22 and have grone through mtx and numerous blood labs.  I am still  waiting for the magnificent 0 and for AF.   I haven't had the chance to talk with a dr yet because I won't see him until I am at 0 for a ttc visit.  If anyone out there had an epiotic pregnancy in one of your tubes, were you told to ttc on the other side?  This is all so confusing and frustrating.

  • They didn't know which side mine was on. However, my doctor ordered an HSG to evaluate my tubes after the ectopic. Sometimes debris is left behind or there's scar tissue, so they want to see if your tubes are clear. If your tubes are evaluated and are clear, I would think you're good to go on either side.

My doctor hasn't mentioned anything about checking my tubes.  I wonder if this is something they always do?
  • My RE has said that even if one tube is blocked/ gone, it doesn't matter. You will continue to ovulate from either ovary and the good tube will actually move to pick up the egg from the missing side.

  • Also worth noting, there is not really such a thing as trying for one side since you don't have control over which ovary releases an egg. I have heard it make sure no difference if you have a damaged tube and I've also heard it can take longer because the egg won't always find the other tube. Probably depends on who you ask.
