What is everyone wearing these days?

Ladies what is everyone wearing these days?  I know we're all early on but I'm bloated and my boobs are a bit bigger so all my tops with no stretch to them look like I'm just fat and out growing my clothes.  Where are your favorite places for maternity clothes?  Also if anyone comes across any really good sales could you post them on here?  I want some cute maternity clothes but I don't want to break the bank.

Re: What is everyone wearing these days?

  • Thankfully I get to wear yoga pants and a t shirt to work because that is about all i feel like wearing.  Everything just feel soooooooo tight still.  ready to stop feeling bloated!  For maternity clothes, I loved Old Navy (online), target and Motherhood Maternity.  I also have a few yard sale sites that I am a part of in my area that people will sometime sell their maternity clothes on.  Great clothes at a discount price.  I hopefully won't "Have" to buy much more than i had last time.  my DD was born in April so i should be able to wear about the same clothes season wise.....just have to see if they still fit bc i didn't lose all of the baby weight from the first kiddo

  • I've been eyeing up the maternity clothes at Target and they look pretty cute. I'm hoping it will be a while before I actually have to buy anything officially categorized as maternity. I got away with leggings, longer tops, sweaters/Blazers with boots for a while last time. My DD was born coming off the winter though, so I feel clueless in regards to warm weather maternity clothes when I'll actually be big.
  • Kohls has a pretty good selection (online) of maternity clothes. I also got some work pants from Gap and clothes from the other listed stores above.

  • I've been mostly wearing the LuLaRoe Irmas with stretchy skinny dress pants to work. I feel like all I see is bloat when I try to wear anything else!

I did go to Ross last weekend and bought 14 different maternity items for around $100!
  • For now I've ordered pants a size up from my normal size and I've grabbed a bunch of big button down shirts with stripes and plaid and such to try and hide. I'm not sure how well it's working but I feel more comfortable.

  • At home...lulus/stretchy pants allllll day.

Still wearing the same clothes to work but I admit I have already had a couple instances where I had to unbuckle my belt at my desk because it was so uncomfortable...

  • I was just looking at that site Pink Blush and they have a sitewide sale of 25% off everything.  I may buy a few things from there.  The clothes look pretty cute.
  • Leggings with boots and baggy knit fall sweaters! For work I get to wear scrubs thankfully.
  • Gap maternity is super comfy and good quality. And these days, they have sales all the time, usually 35-40% off.

I second @swanbrooner! I've been living in Lularoe. However, I do think I'm going to have to go up a legging size when I really start to show. But right now it's been all about leggings, Irmas, Perfect Ts, and Carly dresses for me! And I still feel cute in them despite how huge I am already.

This bloat really is no joke. And my bras aren't really fitting anymore! :grimace:

    Me: 34, DH: 38 ~ TTC since 2014
    IUI #1-3 (Nov 2015, Feb 2016, May 2016) = BFNs
IVF ER (July 2016) = 7 PGS normal embryos
    FET #1 (Sept 2016) = BFP! DD born 5/30/17
    FET #2 (April 2019) = BFN
    FET #3 (July 2019) = BFP! DS born 3/27/20
  • I owned 4 maternity pieces when pregnant with my son and wore all but 1 piece once. I hope the same is true this time. Wishful thinking. I wore my belly bands and longer shirts. I did by a pair of boots .5 size bigger but that was it.
  • My regular clothes. I've had to start wearing a bra to bed though because my boobs hurt so much. I don't expect I'll need maternity clothes for awhile yet.
  • I've been pretty much living in my Nike training pants.  The bloat is happening 24/7 and I normally layer with some type of casual high low tunic.  I'm already thinking of breastfeeding practicality with future clothing purchases-I made it 14 months with my son and I'm hoping to gear my fashion for the quick pull outs and pumping at work.
  • None of my pants fit and I basically walk around every day with my pants unbuttoned, constantly yanking my shirt to make sure it's concealing it
  • Right now, leggings! When you need to switch to maternity I recommend the pants from Motherhood Maternity (they are the more affordable line sold at Destination Maternity stores). They have great leggings, yoga pants, and sweats that are always on good sales. They also have great trousers if you need work clothes. Most come in the short panel (which just provides a little bit of stretch and is great for early on in pregnancy and also after the baby) and the full panel (which goes all the way up your belly and is great for when you're bigger). Finally, for jeans, I like Old Navy maternity and I was able to wear the short panel ones for quite a while into my last pregnancy, and they look just like my regular jeans so no one can tell. Tops, I picked up whenever I saw something that I liked at a good price. Good luck! It's easy to get overwhelmed, so I'd suggest shopping around and just buying a few pieces here and there.
  • Oh forgot to mention, since you mentioned bras, I'd suggest going to Target or someplace equally inexpensive and picking up a couple wire free bras that look comfy but still provide good shape. I found a couple for about $12-15 each and I wear them all the time. They're so much more comfortable but I don't think there's a big difference in appearance. I wore those my entire pregnancy and then when I was finished nursing.
  • I'm still wearing my regular clothes but I'm plus size so I'm thinking it'll be a while before I have to get maternity clothes.
  • Still in regular clothes, though the bloating makes jeans uncomfortable when I'm sitting at my desk...so I unbutton them.  Last time I wore nonmaternity jeans until about 13 weeks; I don't think i'll make it that long this time.  I didn't really start to wear maternity clothes until about halfway through last time, other than jeans which I only wear to work once a week.  I wear dresses most days, and I have enough with some stretch in them that they look fine.  I actually wore some nonmaternity dresses the entire way through with DD.

I got most of my stuff from Gap and Old Navy, with online coupon codes.  I got nursing tanks and bras from Motherhood, but otherwise I found their stuff too pricey.  Also, Stitch Fix does maternity clothes, so I got a few boxes of maternity clothes then, and wound up with a few cute (but pricier) dresses to wear to my showers and also to work, so that was good.  I gave all my maternity clothes to my bestie, who just had her son a few weeks ago, so i'm going to get those back when I go to visit in a few weeks - and also the clothes that she added to our "collection."  Thank god we're the same size and are pregnant at opposite times haha.

I have natural DD breasts, and was surprised to note that they didn't get THAT much bigger...I was able to wear my normal bras, just on the outer clasp instead of the inner, for most of my first pregnancy.  I got measured for nursing bras at about 8.5 months and then switched over to those.  I don't think clothes will exist that fit me if my boobs get any bigger so I really hope that does not happen.  Basically I pray every day that I gain this pregnancy exactly like I gained my last one - 28lbs, entirely in my bump.  PLEASE LET THAT HAPPEN AGAIN THAT WOULD BE AMAZING.  I will take that every day, even though it caused me to "show" fairly early, and strangers to constantly comment on my pregnancy for the last 4 months.  Annoying, but well worth it.

  • This is baby #3 and I have no shame in how much I love my maternity pants. They are comfy even when I'm not pregnant. So they came over and are staying out. Around the house I just wear comfy sweats and leggings, and when I go out it's maternity pants or leggings.

  • You ladies are awesome!  Thanks for your input.  I too am naturally quite large on top DD as well so I shutter to think how big I may get.  I'll have to check out the leggings at motherhood maternity!
  • I don't even have any bloating yet, so I'm still in all of my normal clothes.

Be wary changing out your wardrobe already, what you're experiencing now really is just bloating and as hormones level out the bloat will subside. It'll be months before you'll actually start showing.

I didn't need maternity clothes until 30w with DD1 and close to that with DD2. I'm for the same this time around, especially since my maternity clothes are currently all out on loan.

  • I'm living in dresses and leggings with tunic tops. No thank you to pants right now. I'm so bloated it isn't nice at all.

I also switched from the bra with an underwire to bralettes. No regrets. Bralettes are so much more comfortable. I'm only a 34C so I don't need a ton of support and bralettes seem to provide a happy medium for me where I'm getting enough support and also not super uncomfortable with the underwires and such.

  • I'm trying not to think of what's gonna happen to my boobs. I'm already a 34G. Instituted a belly balm/coconut oil routine for myself.
  • I've been mostly wearing the LuLaRoe Irmas with stretchy skinny dress pants to work. I feel like all I see is bloat when I try to wear anything else!

I did go to Ross last weekend and bought 14 different maternity items for around $100!
LuLa Roe is my jam!!! I love the Madison's! Those have been a life saver for me since I'm too bloated to wear some of my pants!
  • This is my third and I'm very bloated already, my normal clothes aren't all fitting. I pulled a bag of maternity clothes out of storage and am washing them to hang up but I also put on chick flicks on netflix a few nights ago and locked myself in the bedroom to try on all my "usual clothes" and everything that hid my stomach or will look great with a bump in a few months and has room to grow. Anything that made me look bad or was uncomfortable immediately went into a bin to be stored for about a year (I give myself plenty of fourth trimester recovery time, it helps my ego, lol). So I have a lot of leggings with a thicker material that either have a maternity panel, sit under where my bump will be or sit super high like ribcage height, maternity jeans, jeans that are normally a bit loose on me which I close with the rubberband trick or a bella band (not the b band from target, I hate that one and glare at it, the official pricey bella band doesn't roll up on me) and some elastic waist lounge pants and skirts, and lots of blousey loose tops and maxi dresses or baby doll dresses. It helps that I have a Free People addiction, loads of their merch is super loose around the stomach and flowy.

  • I tended to fluctuate between a 14 and 16 before I got pregnant.   I'm only 4 weeks but my size 14 pants are already really uncomfortable (it could be my imagination but I was getting horrible heartburn and stomach aches wearing them two days ago).   Luckily, I can wear pretty much anything to work so I've transitioned to yoga pants, my baggiest jeans, and t-shirts.   I want to wear my cutest women's cut t-shirts before my boobs get too big for those.

  • Question: where are you ladies buying bras? Mine are slowly not fitting anymore and I need something very supportive but comfortable. I'm usually a 34DD but I'm thinking I might be DDD now :grimace:

  • Leggings and long shirts. Luckily my concert dresses will probably work for awhile. My last pregnancy I wore my maternity clothes to death, so, they went out to be recycled. They were falling apart. This time I might buy one pair of pants here at H&M or Lindex, but save the majority of the shopping until I go stateside for Christmas and hit up all the after Christmas sales. I can wear winter clothes well in to June here, so, I should be fine. Last time, I was bloated until my bump started to show. I bloat super easily though, so, it never went away before my bump started to show.

  • @beckij34  I am a plus sized girl too. Why doesn't Lane Bryant make maternity clothes?  Everyone is different but during my first pregnancy I was in maternity clothes by 8 weeks.  I found that target had some good plus sized options.

  • I had lost weight before I got my BFP, so I just moved back into my bigger size.  Sadly, it won't last much longer. My big problem is that my principal requires dress pants and I am plus sized. No leggings, no jeans, no tight pants, so I am feeling limited.  During my first pregnancy, I had a different principal who allowed us to wear jeans.  I am really missing her right now.

I have had good luck with target and old navy maternity. My work clothes are still comfortable but my jeans are feeling uncomfortable with the bloat,so I've been wearing sweatpants at home. I bought some bras without underwire during my last pregnancy, I might start wearing those soon.

I am a plus size girl too... and I had a terrible time finding pants. This is my second pregnancy and I am bloated... nothing fitted feels comfortable. I found stretchy work pants at JC Penny today. I bought a size larger. I hate buying clothing online. Target had cute shirts. Most stores selections are very small :( I was feeling very discouraged Friday. Better now that, JC Penny has lots of variety and sizes of pants with elastic waists.
  • I'm only Seven weeks but I guess I'm bloated because my pants do not fit. I got three pairs of maternity pants from target today. They are full panel but for now I can wear them like fold over waist yoga pants :)

Were the pants in the maternity section? I had shopping online when I am not pregnant let alone when I don't know my body at all.
