This is a weekly check-in for those in their 2nd trimester: weeks 14 through the end of week 27.
Congrats to all the strong ladies who have made it this far! It's such a great feeling and we've all accomplished so much! We are now 1 week closer to the end of this especially long journey we call "infertility".
Please post below a little about yourself, how many beans you have growing inside, if you have found out the sex(es) and what your EDD is. Please also let us know how far you've made it on your journey and when your next appt is and what for. If I'm missing anyone from this list, please let me know and I will add you.
Congratulations @Drove2u on moving on to the 3rd trimester!
QOTW - What baby items will you splurge on? What items
are you most excited to get for the baby? What items do you think are
unnecessary?

Happy Monday ladies!! This week I have my follow up ultrasound after the anatomy ultrasound found out about the two vessel cord. Last week we bought the crib and dresser! Can't wait until they are delivered. My bump finally popped (20 weeks) so I am so excited about that .
QOTW: I am excited for all of it! I have the Mamaroo, Bassinest and a Nuna Stroller/car seat that I really want on our registry. Not sure what is unnecessary but based on articles and stuff I have read a wipe warmer seems to be a waste. Also no changing table, I will just be putting a pad on his dresser.
Me: 28, DH: 30 Married July 2014 DX: Severe MFI- 3 failed IUI's, IVF #1 Egg retrieval June 4th 2016, 5 day transfer- BFP Baby Boy! EDD 2/25/2017. Our sweet miracle Carter Bennett arrived 2/12/2017 6 lbs, 2 oz 19 inches. Surprise BFP!!! Baby Girl due 10/1/2018.
Hi ladies! I have no appointments this week, but inching closer and closer to the end of 2nd trimester.
QOTW - I think the most expensive items will be furniture, car seats, stroller. DH's aunt already got us a crib, which I can't wait to set up. Then we'll purchase a dresser and I also really want a rocker/lounge chair. I'm most excited for everything, haha. I can't wait for all the cute stuff, especially tiny little clothes and stuff to decorate the nursery with. As for unnecessary items, I thought I'd need everything so I added it all to the registry. Then took off the wipes warmer and most of the clothes as we're getting a bunch from my friend. My friend also told me a bottle warmer and diaper genie are unnecessary, but I kept them on and someone already bought the diaper genie. I guess I can always return it after.

No appointments this week suppose to go back to work Friday will know in Wednesday if I can go back and this wound vac can come off. I'm splurging on car seats and stroller for the girls I bought the cribs and glider used which are in great condition. So I passed the glucose test and found out my iron is low oh well now I will on supplements. Here is pictures of the girls nursery so far.
Hi ladies! I have been gone for a while, I feel so guilty! just busy at work and and tired when I get home. I'm still having nausea and vomiting, can you believe it? It's less but still there, last time I threw up was a week ago.
Also I'm in North Florida and we had hurricane Mathew pay us a visit, thankfully we were safe, only some water leakage and we did lose power but can't complain.
My anatomy scan was last Thursday but it was rescheduled due to the storm, I'll have it tomorrow, can't wait to see my baby! I have started to feel weird sensations so I'm guessing I'm starting to feel her, it's so weird and exciting!
I'll be trying to catch up on everybody, I missed you all! hope you are all doing great!
QOTW -As far as splurging we really like the 4moms breeze playard because it's so easy to set up and take down, and just like @chicandbubbly we won't get a wipe warmer or changing table. I did get a diaper pail, but chose the Ubbi because you can use regular trash bags instead of the exp naive ones that you have to use with other systems

@yelllow22 Have fun at the anatomy scan!! I was just thinking about you this morning so I'm glad to hear that you are still doing well (aside from being a bit sick still.) @ultratomato The nursery looks wonderful!! @chicandbubbly Yay bumping!!
AFM - We had a standard check in on Thursday where they measured my belly. My glucose test will be my next apt in a month. I'm a little nervous, but I know that regardless it will be fine.
QOTW - We definitely went a bit crazy on registering for clothes this weekend, but probably our biggest splurge is the amount of work DH is doing in the nursery. He's drawing by hand a bunch of fairy tale critters, so we've got dragons, a knight, unicorn, fairies, etc. I'll post pictures once we start painting them, but pencil drawings are hard to see. I'm most excited about my glider I think. I just love to close my eyes and imagine getting to hold Wee Boy and rock. And then we registered for an outfit that comes with a flat cap like my DH wears, so I'm too excited about that. I have heard nothing but annoyance about the diaper genie, so we registered for a trash can that just uses standard bags but has a double lid to block smells better. Also, there's this super popular giraffe toy that I think is supposed to be a teether, but it's very expensive for the size and most people say their kid didn't even like it, so I said "no way" to registering for it.

Hello ladies, I hope you guys don't mind me joining you! I hit my second trimester on Friday, but didn't get a chance to post until today. My due date is 4/7/17 and I'm having a little girl! My last OB appointment was on the third and my next one isn't until November 9. I have to say it's kind of nerve wracking going from weekly appointments and ultrasounds to a monthly thing. Anyway, I recognize a few of you ladies here and I'm happy to be able to join you!
QOTW: I think the largest splurge for me would be the travel system I want for my LO if no one buys it for us on our registry. It's early, but we already bought the crib and dresser from babies r us since they were the floor models and were marked down by like 50%. They look brand new and DH just made sure there wasn't any cracks or broken parts to them and tightened up the screws and bolts when we got home. We know a lot of friends and family who had girls so the clothing we are fortunate to get a lot of hand me downs, although I couldn't help it and still bought some brand new stuff lol. As far as everything else in the registry I'm basing off of what I remember 8.5 years ago with my son. I didn't have much use for the diaper genie, but for me the wipe warmer was very useful. It made the middle of the night diaper changes a bit more comfortable for my son because he wouldn't be fully awake and he didn't have something cold hitting his little butt and waking him up fully. Every baby is different though, you can always register for it and if you feel it's unnecessary after trying it then return it.
@chicandbubbly Good luck at this weeks ultrasound!! @ultratomato It looks great so far! We're doing an "under the sea" theme too, but our is more purple/teal with mermaids, seahorses, and starfish. High five for passing the glucose test! @yellow22 Glad you guys are safe! Good luck at your anatomy scan! @jenn6782 Welcome to 2nd tri! It gets easier to deal with the less frequent appointments as you get further into the 2nd trimester. The anxiety never goes away completely, though!
No appointments for me for the rest of the month. I can't remember if I checked in after my anatomy scan last week, but everything looked great and she is measuring right on schedule. She is also a little gymnast in there! Every time I eat and right before bed I feel like she's doing back flips. I have been able to feel it with my hand briefly a few times, but my husband hasn't been able to catch it yet.
QOTW: I tend to check in with my friends that have had kids recently before I add or change something on my registry. I did hear that a wipe warmer was unnecessary, but I also heard that a wipe dispenser is good to have because they are sometimes difficult to remove from their package. I figured that if someone is spending the money on one of those, I might as well register for the warmer that's only $5 more. If I have a change of heart, or I get that instead of something I need, I can always exchange it. I have a diaper genie only because I'm getting a lot of hand-me-down items from friends, so I'll give that a whirl and see how it goes. I feel like we've gotten some pretty good deals and have only gotten things we need so far. Except for DH can't stop buying sleepers because "they are just so cute!" I'm not sure what has happened to my husband. LOL!!! But I am excited for literally EVERYTHING!

@ultratomato nursery is looking great! Congrats on passing the glucose test. You also just reminded me that mine is tomorrow and I completely forgot! Yikes, now I'll be freaking out.
@yelllow22 I'm sorry to hear you're still feeling sick. Hopefully that'll go away soon. Glad to hear you're safe from the hurricane. Enjoy your anatomy scan, it's such a fun one!
@dragonfaerie how cool that your husband is able to paint the nursery. My friend's husband did a safari theme for their little boy and painted the entire room, it looks so beautiful! Can't wait to see pictures of yours!
@jenn6782 welcome to the 2nd trimester! I'll add you to the thread shortly . It's always hard to go from constant appointments to monthly ones. It'll get easier soon, especially when you start feeling your little girl move around in there.
@NurseTMD85 haha, your husband is the opposite of mine. He thinks half of this stuff is unnecessary. He is the one that has to stop me from getting all the clothes because everything is so cute. I just can't help myself.

Hello all! I've been away for a while but just popping in. Glad you ladies are doing well. I had my cervix check and growth check and everything is looking good. Babies are measuring on schedule. I'll have my glucose test I think next week along with the trap vaccine. QOTW: So far I've been splurging on the small stuff. I think my parents and in-laws will be splurging on the bigger items. The items I'm most excited to get are the nursery furniture so DH can start assembling them. I'm hearing mixed reviews on a few things so I'm still unsure of what's unnecessary. I'm still in the process of creating my registry so we'll see.
@chicandbubbly I had never heard about the 2 vessel cord, I just looked it up, hope your baby continues to do great, I know everything is stressful! It does really seem like chances of problems are minimal so I am positive everything will be ok!
@ultratomato the nursery looks adorable, and yay for passing the glucose test!
@jenn6782 Welcome to the second trimester!!! I used to be a nervous wreck and without even realizing it that started (for the most part) going away, you'll get there soon
@NurseTMD85 Haha how cute of your DH! That's what happens to men when they have little girls!
@Tulips29 Thanks! I hope you pass your test tomorrow, I'm anxious about mine, hopefully tomorrow they'll tell me when I'll do it.

@chicandbubbly I hope everything everything is clear on your follow up scan, I can imagine how anxious you are fingers crossed for great news!
@dragonfaerie can't wait to see your husband's artwork, sounds so cool!
QOTD: I want to splurge on the mamaroo and the halo bassinet even though I know we will only use it a few months lol since I am still early in the 2nd I haven't bought anything, but had a friend give me a huge stash of stuff including pack not play, bumble seat, bathtub, high chair, snap and go stroller and lots of little stuff too. I also am home for Canadian thanksgiving and my family has already got her a mini wardrobe lol I have already accepted there will be stuff we buy that we won't use much or at all ....I think it's hard to know what you need and will use before the time comes!
I have a question about the anatomy scan, I had my NT scan at 13 weeks and the perinatal specialist said to recheck with her in 4weeks for next ultrasound but I will only be 17 weeks... isn't this a bit soon? (I see a regular ob and they send us to this specialist for ultrasounds) maybe it's not for the anatomy scan but according to the schedule they provided us from ob that was to be the next ultrasound?

@2legbaby are you getting monthly u/s? Maybe the anatomy scan will be the one following the 17 week one? As I understand, anatomy scans are between 19 and 21 weeks, so maybe yours will be at 21 since you're getting a 17 week scan? Either way, if it'll be the next one for you, I hope everything's looking good and you get to see all the details of your little girl

HI all! I'm 14 weeks today so officially moving up to the second trimester. My edd is 4/11/17 with one little one. My next ob apt is tomorrow, it's my second one so I'm thinking I'll just be weighed, measured and listen to the hb. Dh has been having a lot of milkshake cravings and each time he gets one he brings me a treat. I'm hoping my weight hasn't jumped up in the last 4 weeks but if it did I'll know who to blame.
Qotw: my biggest splurge item is the stroller, the bugaboo cameleon. My grandfather is very traditional and wanted to buy something that has a bassinet as he's used to old Italian pram strollers so this is a compromise. Other than that I'm trying to keep to less is more. Anything that has a multi use that's what I'll register for.

So I had my hospital tour this morning. I don't know why, but it made me so emotional. The nurse giving the tour kept saying things like "and this is where mommies will be admitted" or "and this is where dads will sleep", etc. I kept picturing me and my husband at the time of delivery and I felt so overwhelmed with emotions. Then when they showed the nursery, I almost lost it seeing those tiny newborn babes in there. But everyone there was so nice and helpful with all the questions and I'm just excited for the remainder of this process.

@ultratomato I haven't signed up for birthing classes, I have to look into those and see if we're gonna do them. The hospital offers breastfeeding classes after delivery though, which I like. The tour they said we can do any time during the 3rd trimester. Today just happened to be a convenient day for both of us to go so we did it a little earlier. There were other couples on the tour with us, some just entering 3rd and some ready to pop any day now.

@Tulips29 thanks I think will set up soon since I will be in my 7 month this week and im hoping we can compete it the same time as the birthing class they offer a Saturday class that is like 7hrs but it includes breakfast and lunch
I turned 14 weeks this past Sunday. A little about us: I'm due April 9, 2017 with one PGS tested boy. I will likely have a c-section at 37 or 38 weeks due to previous surgeries on my uterus. I have been in maternity clothes for over a month now. My main symptoms are heart burn and tiredness. I'm also struggling with depression. My next OB appointment is in 2 weeks for genetic counseling. Apparently that where they tell me everything that could go wrong since I'm over 35.
QOTW I feel like I splurged on conception, so I'll be looking for hand me downs and other bargains in terms of baby supplies, clothes, gear, etc. I will likely be splurging on child care once we get to that point. One thing that's really important for me is wooden toys. I will likely splurge on those, too.

Soo they messed up my appointment yesterday and told me I was not scheduled for an anatomy scan (which is 100% what they had said my next appointment was for), and the ultrasound tech was not even in the office... I was so upset because it is incredibly hard for me to get time off from work and I already had to cancel my patients on short notice to go in yesterday because my original appointment was rescheduled from last week due to the hurricane (which was completely understandable). They said the Dr's want the scan done between 18-21 weeks (I am 20) and on top of that the tech is only there Wednesdays and Fridays only in the am, starting at 8:30. Those happen to be the 2 days when I work at an office 1/2 hour away from them as opposed to the rest of the week when I'm only 5 min away, and I start working at 7:30 am... End of rant ! Sorry, I'm extra sensitive because of the hormones I'm sure
@2legbaby How awesome that you have gotten all that stuff! I know they can do the scan before 18w but I would double check with them to make sure they want to do it at 17 weeks and it wasn't a mistake
@ale9687 Welcome to the second trimester! Another small victory! You are getting the Rolls Royce of strollers lol that's great! My best friend actually offered to sell me hers which is in perfect condition for half the original price because she is now getting a double stroller, so we are considering it, it's still expensive, so we'll see!

@cmm012 welcome to the 2nd trimester! I'll add you to the list. I hear you on heartburn and being tired. It's currently 2 am here and I'm wide awake from heartburn.
@yelllow22 ugh that's frustrating. I would have been really annoyed too. I hope they at least apologized profusely for their mistake. It's not nice to trick hormonal pregnant women like that! Hope this week flies by for you until your scan next Wednesday! It'll be all worth it seeing your little girl

@2legbaby I had my first anatomy at 16 weeks but I think that's because I'm having twins. Since you're going to a perinatologist I am guessing the 17 week will be your anatomy. After the anatomy the perinatologist only sees you to check growth and cervix. Hope this helps.
@cmm012 I like the wooden toys too - especially anything educational. They look cool.
@yellow22 It seems like some doctors' offices think we don't work so their schedule is the only one that matters. I'm sorry you had to deal with that.
I had my 2nd OB visit and scheduled an anatomy scan for week 19 (1st week of Nov.). I'm also going in for the AFP test. I still have slight nausea off and on, but barely any heartburn since I quit CoQ10. My OB took me off of all supplements other than prenatal and baby aspirin, which is great. My ankles and feet have started to swell a little, but it's not bad and wearing socks and shoes and leggings seems to prevent it (I bought compression socks too but haven't worn them ). I can feel something swishing through my uterus sometimes and my OB said that it's totally possible (even as a first time mom) to already be feeling some movements. I had read that it's not likely as a FTM and it's probably just gas, as if I don't know what that feels like. Lol
QOTW - What baby items will you splurge on? We have been looking at strollers and car seats (travel systems). What items are you most excited to get for the baby? Bouncers, Pack and Plays, and baby carriers. What items do you think are unnecessary? We don't plan to have a nursery. Baby girl will have a dedicated room, but it will mostly be for storing all of the baby stuff until she's older. That's "the plan," but we may not know what works for this little person until she's here.
Good news! Had my follow up ultrasound after finding out I have a two-vessel cord during the anatomy scan. Baby's organs look great and he is on track growth wise. I am so relieved!!

I'm going to need all the prayers I can get. Just had a phone call saying my quad scan came back showing high risk from Down syndrome and I feel like the world is coming apart. I'm at work, had to hide in a bathroom to cry and decided to tell them I have to go because I feel sick. I have to see 2 patients and then I'll run to their office to get blood work , results will take 2 weeks. I'm heartbroken and confused.

@mrygoround Pssh on what the websites say. I felt Wee Boy the first time around 14 weeks. I didn't feel him again until after our anatomy scan, but the sensation was so strange that it could only have been him. How fun to get to feel them move, right?! @chicandbubbly Great news! So glad to hear that! @yelllow22 Hugs for you hon! I know that you will have the strength to get through this!

@yelllow22 I am so sorry you are going through this right now. I will be praying for you and your baby. I remember my Dr. telling me before I got my chromosomal test results back that even if you have a "high risk" determined, it doesn't necessarily mean your baby has it. I hope you get some good news and I know the wait for results will be terrible. Thinking of you

@yellow22 ill be thinking of you. My first trimester screening pamphlet stressed its just a pre screening and not 100% or set in stone. I hope the blood test comes back with better news.
@dragonfaerie It's nice to have confirmation that the sensation isn't my imagination. I think it started around week 14 for me too and it's usually after coughing, sneezing, laughing, or when one of our pets tries to walk over me and I jump to protect my belly. I don't know if I wake her up or if I am just more in tune at that moment to what's going on.
I'm sorry @yelllow22 I know this is going to be a rough two weeks no matter what. I think false positives for that screening are high. Did your doctor say anything about that? They may not just in case, but I have hope for your next results and wish you peace of mind.
Re: ***2nd Trimester Check in, Week of October 10th***
QOTW: I am excited for all of it! I have the Mamaroo, Bassinest and a Nuna Stroller/car seat that I really want on our registry. Not sure what is unnecessary but based on articles and stuff I have read a wipe warmer seems to be a waste. Also no changing table, I will just be putting a pad on his dresser.

I was just thinking about you this morning so I'm glad to hear that you are still doing well (aside from being a bit sick still.)
@ultratomato The nursery looks wonderful!!
@chicandbubbly Yay bumping!!

@ultratomato the nursery looks adorable, and yay for passing the glucose test!

As I understand, anatomy scans are between 19 and 21 weeks, so maybe yours will be at 21 since you're getting a 17 week scan? Qotw: my biggest splurge item is the stroller, the bugaboo cameleon. My grandfather is very traditional and wanted to buy something that has a bassinet as he's used to old Italian pram strollers so this is a compromise. Other than that I'm trying to keep to less is more. Anything that has a multi use that's what I'll register for.

I turned 14 weeks this past Sunday. A little about us:
I'm due April 9, 2017 with one PGS tested boy.

My ankles and feet have started to swell a little, but it's not bad and wearing socks and shoes and leggings seems to prevent it (I bought compression socks too but haven't worn them
QOTW - What baby items will you splurge on? We have been looking at strollers and car seats (travel systems).
What items are you most excited to get for the baby? Bouncers, Pack and Plays, and baby carriers.
What items do you think are unnecessary? We don't plan to have a nursery. Baby girl will have a dedicated room, but it will mostly be for storing all of the baby stuff until she's older. That's "the plan," but we may not know what works for this little person until she's here.

Thanks @WishingforLuck that is great to know! Do they do twins earlier so they don't get too big and make it hard to see?

@yelllow22 I am so sorry you are going through this right now. I will be praying for you and your baby. I remember my Dr. telling me before I got my chromosomal test results back that even if you have a "high risk" determined, it doesn't necessarily mean your baby has it. I hope you get some good news and I know the wait for results will be terrible. Thinking of you
I'm sorry @yelllow22
