Personal Care Products

Being a first time mom I'm suddenly nervous about the products I'm using and if they could be harmful. I'm mostly interested in switching to a natural deodorant but of course I want a good one that actually works!

I'm curious as to what personal care products you all use/recommend, including lotions, deodorants, body wash, makeup/remover, and shampoos/conditioners.

I use Toms deodorant. I don't have major problems with BO so it works for me, even during exercises. I make my own body/face lotion with organic coconut oil, organic shea butter and organic vitamin E oil. It's seriously the best and amazing for your growing tummy and tired eyes!! Let me know if you want the ratios. Super easy to make.
Shampoo and conditioner are just Trader Joe's brand (Tea Tree). I have a variety of body soaps (bars) I use that are made by a farm near our cabin!

The best natural deodorant I've found is probably the soapwalla deorderant. And personally I think the tea tree and lavender one works a little better than the citrus. The only downsides to it are that it is more expensive than "regular" deodorant. You do apply it with your fingers as it doesn't come in a roll on stick so it's a tiny bit messy. And it tends to irritate my skin after a couple of days. I doubt most people would have the skin irritation problem as my skin is just so super sensitive. I can't even wear moisturizer or makeup with SPF in it but I know that isn't a problem for most people.

Body wash: I really love the "naturally citrus" kirkland bodywash from Costo. It's very affordable and it has natural ingredients I feel good about. Plus it seems to work well with my skin.

Shampoo/condition: I have curly hair and I do the "curly girl method" so I avoid sulfates and silicones. I've been using the Shea Moisture coconut and hibiscus shampoo and I'm pretty happy with it. It seems to work pretty well for my hair, it smells great and it's natural. For conditioner I've been trying to find one I like.

I'd love the ratios, please!  Tea tree shampoo is the only thing that works for me when pregnant, my hair gets super greasy (I wash my hair daily) and dry when pregnant.

My DD (who is going through puberty, and has really smelly pits) and I use Kiss My Face Lavendar deodorant.  It's aluminum and paraben free and so far the only one that keeps odor at bay.

I second the kiss my face lavendar, except I became allergic to it. I was so sad. That stuff is the bomb!!

I use the Tom's deodorant, too
For lotion, eye cream, face and foot scrubs, etc I use Organic Doctor products from Vitamin World. They're all aloe vera based (as opposed to water based)
The shampoo and conditioner I love are Renpure coconut milk from Target. They smell great and they leave out all the pore-cloggers

I love Lush products.  A lot of their products are SLS free and I think all are silicone free, which I avoid like @NamelessAria.  They also have some deodorants and other products.  I am particularly in love with their all over body lotion Dream Cream and the facial moisturizer Celestial.  Both of those products are very kind to my super sensitive skin.

I use Argan oil for body, face and hair styling. Going to make a Whole Foods trip tomorrow to look for new shampoo/conditioner. Also switching deodorant and toothpaste to Tom's.

@Assiram42 it's 1 cup shea butter to 1/2 cup coconut oil. Melt together and then set aside to solidify. While it's setting, add in 1/2 teaspoon of vitamin E oil and stir. After it's mostly solidified, whip up with a hand mixer or in an electric mixing bowl. I keep mine in a mason jar in my bathroom! Some people like to keep it in the fridge but either is fine!!!

I haven't managed to switch Deodorants yet (TMI but I never in my life had BO and then after baby #1, I feel like I have horrible BO if I don't wear strong deodorant, anyone else?). Anyway, last pregnancy I liked the Burts Bees facial products, available at Target. This time I'm trying Yes to Grapefruit, also available at Target, and so far I like their face wash and body wash. It also comes in all different fruits. Both those brands say what % natural they are (like 90% or 99%, etc.), so I feel like they're a good choice. We also use Burts Bees for DD. She has very sensitive skin and has always been good with that.

Thank you for all your suggestions ladies! I went ahead and ordered a couple different deodorants to try... the Kiss My Face (in two different scents) and I thought I would also try the Honest brand deodorant. Anyone have any experience with Honest products?

    When pregnant...

lotions- Sweet Georgia Sugar unscented whipped body butter
deodorants- Schmidt's unscented deodorant. I prefer the consistency of the one that comes in s pot
body wash- Booda Butter all in one body soap
makeup remover- Aveda Creme Cleanser followed by Aveda Rich Creme. I occasionally use fine grain sugar to exfoliate my face and body
    shampoos/conditioners-Aveda. I rotate what I use.

I've been with Aveda 9 years and am a product and ingredient junkie. I love everything they make, but a lot of ingredients are contraindicated during pregnancy and my nose hates everything, so I really switch up my routine and simplify. If you have questions, holler. ❤️

I like Real Purity for deodorant. You can find it online, and it is pricey, but I've been using it for years now and love it!
