    CS/Q:

GTKY: With all the talk about hurricane Matthew, what is the worst storm (tornado, snow, etc) that you have weathered?

Snow storm in DC about 7 years ago....lots of heavy snow, even the ice rink roof nearby collapsed!
  • @khrun17 That bridge collapse picture is crazy!!!  I'm slightly fearful of bridges to begin with, especially long ones.  Now I'm definitely cracking my windows and making sure my doors are unlocked every time I go over a bridge!

  • Month/Cycle: 4/4

    CD/DPO: 29/13

    Timing: ok

    Testing: bfn... waiting for AF

R/R: pressed and digital opks come in the mail today. :) it's the weekend... I have an exam Monday but then I took Tues. Off too

    CS/Q: nope

GTKY: With all the talk about hurricane Matthew, what is the worst storm (tornado, snow, etc) that you have weathered? One time when I was younger we lost power for over a week. It was in the summer though... I can't remember the storm name. Also during Irene we were living on a street that completely destroyed... the place we were renting didnt get touched, but the houses that were across the street (they were riverfront) were completely damaged. Our dog almost jumped into the flood waters too... he was like 6 mo. Old at the time!

    Month/Cycle: 3/2

    CD/DPO: 28/3

Timing: -2 -3 (opks messed me up.  I thought we timed it perfectly)

Testing: I have a ob consult with a new dr on DPO 7 so I wonder if they can test).  I got AF on DPO 10 last month so I'll prob test then which is next Friday.

R/R: thankfully Hurricane Matthew hasn't been as bad in my area as they thought.  I headed to a hotel with my puppy because my Bff's hubby works there and got us a room so I would be alone. We're under curfew until 7am tomorrow so I can't go home to check my house til then.

CS/Q: FF is predicting AF on Dpo 10. But not to test until dpo 19. Why so long in between?

GTKY: With all the talk about hurricane Matthew, what is the worst storm (tornado, snow, etc) that you have weathered?
I was in Florida when the three hurricanes hit in a row.  And then going through Hurricane Matthew now which they say might loop around and hit us again
  • @berg I kinda did that on Wednesday.  Poured it in my tervis & left it at home. It was a long morning.

R/R: I’m so glad it’s finally the weekend!  It has been such a long week at work!

    CS/Q: None

GTKY: With all the talk about hurricane Matthew, what is the worst storm (tornado, snow, etc) that you have weathered? DH and I were both living in Tuscaloosa (AL) during the April 27, 2011 tornados.  There is a map of the tornado's path that came out with red being the direct path, then orange, then yellow.  Our apartments (we didn’t live together, we lived across the hall from each other) were on the line between the red and the orange.  The street right behind us was completely wiped out. Thankfully, our apartment complex only had minor damage (a few shingles missing, a few trees fail, some siding ripped off).  Because our apartment was so close to the tornado path, water was deemed unsafe to drink/use before boiling.  We stuck it out for a few days before we decided to head back to our home town.  It was hit pretty bad, too, and there was no power, but at least there was clean water.  (Also, there was a curfew enacted for safety reasons because of looters and robberies occurring because of the lack of power.)  The one good thing that came out of the whole thing was that we met all of our neighbors in our apartment complex that day and became pretty good friends with many of them.  When the tornado sirens started going off, we ran upstairs and beat on all of our neighbors’ doors to tell them to come downstairs to DH’s apartment.  Many people were still in school, but there ended up being 7 or 8 people and a dog squished into one bathroom.  After the tornado passed over us, we had a cookout that night and everyone emptied their freezers.  (At the time, we didn’t know how bad Tuscaloosa had gotten hit.  The next few days were very solemn.)

@purplg8r SO glad to hear you are ok and that you didn't have to ride it out alone! I've been thinking about you!

  • @berg It was really amazing.  Most people weren't allowed in the really bad hit areas for safety reasons, but the areas that had minor damage, people came out of the woodwork to get it cleaned up.  DH had several friends come to our complex and bring chainsaws and helped us clear out some of the trees that had fallen so we could get in and out of the complex.  Then, they all went to other neighborhoods and helped them clean up.

  • Yayyyy Friday!!! I'll return later :)

    Month/Cycle: 4/3 TTCAL

    CD/DPO: 23/8

    Timing: -1, +1

Testing: hoping to hold out for Monday

R/R: Well, this is almost a FFFC because I feel silly for not trying it sooner but I just didn't think it would work lol---- I kept my dog that barks in the bedroom with me with the door closed and the fan on (always on at night as white noise and to drown out my pug snoring :D) and she didn't hear the workers come through!!!! So I didn't get woken up at 415am!!! Or any time after that and I woke up at 510 to temp before my 530 alarm!

I still had a crap sleep and according to my sleep cycle app it almost seems pointless for me to go back to sleep after I temp but whatever; I'm happy about it lol

My rant is that I was doing so well that I was kind of hoping all my twws would feel like this (tho I hope not to have many more, of course), but then last night I got a bit of the BSC and wanted to know NOW and was going over all sorts of scenarios. I think I'm okay now tho...although I have a terrible headache :(

    CS/Q: nope

GTKY: With all the talk about hurricane Matthew, what is the worst storm (tornado, snow, etc) that you have weathered? I'd have to say back when I was in the Navy Reserves....we were on a search and rescue mission (just seeing if anyone needed help; not out for anyone specifically) up the west coast of BC because it was crazy stormy. It felt like in a movie because the waves were so big! You'd look out the back and it could be a wall of water higher than the ship and then suddenly we'd be on the crest of the wave and you'd see absolutely nothing! Plus walking around was super hard and we were even getting lifted out of our seats going over these waves. There were a TON of people who were sea sick ugh. I was in the operations room on shift and someone was trying to get stuff out of the filing cabinet and was bailing all over the place lol Then we hit a wave particularly hard, everything that wasn't "secure for sea", including us, lifted up and then slammed down. And then the scary thing happened....We hear someone piping "Emergency stations, Emergency stations, Flood, Flood, Flood!"

Now, thankfully we're trained quite well for emergencies but that doesn't mean it wasn't scary! Also good was that we weren't actually taking on water, some pipes had just burst so it sounded like it (one of them was the "black water", our sewage ewww). But we were definitely damaged and managed to limp in between a couple islands to wait out the storm. The whole ship was dark, most people were sick (even our captain OMG), we weren't allowed to use any running water. And there were stories circulating about how long we'd be stuck out there lol It was pretty freaky!!! All in all we were really lucky and were able to slowly return home the next day but it was a crazy experience!

Speaking of storms, it's pretty stormy here right now; I can hear crap blowing around on the deck...nothurricane weather tho, and I just want to say I hope everyone stays safe!!!! <3
  • @Lund yeah my first few cups of decaf were disgusting.  Now I just put a whole lot of creamer in it.  I get pretty intense caffeine withdrawl headaches.  I wanted to kick it while I could still take something to deal with that.  I normally have a cup on the weekend bc DH makes it and I'm too lazy to make another pot (and it's SO much better!!).  I'm sure if I were to get KTFU, I will have a cup of reg here or there.  Let's not kid ourselves.

  • Sorry to see BFNs and CD1s, as always.

@lulu1180 FX for you! I was SS like crazy last TWW and now I keep telling myself I won't this time... but I probably will in a week.

    Month/Cycle: 6/5

    CD/DPO: 17/2

    Timing: EOD

Testing: I'm going to try really hard to hold out to CD31/ DPO 16 because I have a long LP and long cycles and hate BFNs.

R/R: Rant: Cod liver oil is the grossest thing ever and I really wish I had gotten the cheaper capsules because I am choking on the smell of fish and just can’t hang. All the Amazon reviews said it was the best ever and had a “mild unnoticeable taste”. If it weren’t so expensive I’d toss it and buy the capsules but I don’t have the money to do stuff like that so I will suffer and probably smell like a fish until the bottle is empty.

You guys have some wild storm stories! There aren't many storms in NorCal: just earthquakes, fire, and drought. When we're lucky, it'll rain for a few days and people will call it a storm, but it's also drought relief so kind of good when it happens. I have family who's homes were totally destroyed in Texas during Hurricane Ike and they barely got the cats out in one piece. It was a mess, but I didn't weather it myself. Good luck to everyone in Matthew's path!

  • @eggplantface - No! :( sorry to see you go!
@lulu1180 - the number of times during TWW I stare at my boobs to see if they've changed and then I realize I don't know what change would really look like is crazy.
@leekat14 - I remember when I was in college hearing about the Metrodome roof collapse in Minneapolis. It was where all the sports teams played and was basically a big bubble filled with air, it was super cool, but couldn't support the weight of the snow.
@berg - there has been a lot more inspections of bridges, and the standards are higher across the country since the bridge collapse. There was a study done right after it of safety of bridges, and they're way better now!
@LuND - if I don't answer MIL's calls, she'll call DH. And he's terrible at keeping things to himself that she doesn't need to know, and he's worse at getting off the phone...so it ends up being an all night thing with him. Unfortunately, it's easier if I talk to her.
@CrystalPDX - a BFP would be the best birthday present! DH and I have our anniversary this month, and I was thinking the same thing. As far as the wine tasting goes...could you be all "fancy" and spit the wine out at the tasting or would they insist you drink it?
@Wabash15 - you grew up there? That's awesome! I LOVED visiting there! We got engaged at Letchworth (by fingerlakes) and DH and I have been craving our favorite bar out there. Oh...and Spot Coffee! Rochester is such a cool place. And we visited Niagara one time, and went to a concert in Buffalo once too.
@Mrlight - wow, that storm sounds so intense! Awesome that you made sure your neighbors were safe. I love when communities come together like that!
@vflux33 - "Just" earthquakes, fire and drought. Those are all terrifying! And they seem to happen every year to you guys.

  • @KhRun17 The fires and drought are both scary and a topic of conversation a lot around here. Earthquakes are scary but you get used to the fear and trying not to think about it--honestly no one really talks about them. I am mostly an earthquake virgin because the only one I felt was under a 4 and in the middle of the night. It just felt like I was swaying on a boat and was not a big deal. Before they replaced the bay bridge (which collapsed in '89) all the earthquake veterans here would tell me very casually they just accept the fact they may die at any moment when crossing it.  On the lease for our rental MH and I had to sign a fault map because the building is way old and definitely not earthquake proof. We turned to each other after and were like, "so we're just not going to think about how we had to sign that fault map, right?" and we both said, "Nope!"
  • @mrlight lol oops!! We've had the news on all morning so prob heard that as I was typing

@GeorgiaWife6912 thank you!  According to the next door app, power has been going off and on at home. So glad it's not here!!
  • @ladymillil the ice storm of January 1998? That took out power for a very long time (days-weeks depending on location)? That's what I came here to say :D

@maebee87 +3 is not in fw. It looks like youre covered though. And yay, ice storm of '98!

@mrsdaddario I was coming to say the same thing: wtf to my face?!

    @eggplantface noooooo.,,, :(

@callalily25 I recommend temping to confirm O. A random +OPK could have been a false surge.

@mrlight other than an annoying boy, the ice storm was also full of nice memories for me. Lots of blankets, fires, snuggles, games by candlelight, grandparents telling stories. I felt like Laura Ingalls Wilder!

    month/cycle: 3ttcal

    CD/DPO: 20/3

    Timing: -4,-3,-2,-1

    Testing: next weekend

    R/R: I missed my bus :(

CS/Q: FF updated and when it gave me CH, it gave me dotted ones, though I think it's obvious.  It also didn't give me a notification that "O has been detected" like it has in the past. Anyone else? I even tried putting in more high temps to see if it would change...nope

GTKY: With all the talk about hurricane Matthew, what is the worst storm (tornado, snow, etc) that you have weathered?
Ice storm of '98 I was 7 and I remember we stayed with family friends who had a wood stove for a week while we waited for power to come back. Their grandson was my age and had a crush on me which everyone thought was so cute. I couldn't wait to get outta there!
