Advice on Zoloft

So I posted a while back that I started zoloft and everyone told me to wait for 4 weeks for it to kick in. You guys were right...I started feeling it at 4 weeks.

I am taking 50mg and definitely am 70% or so better but not where I was before this all happened. I know I probably need to increase but trying hard to make it to end of pregnancy without increasing. I will increase day I give birth.

My question is for you girls that take zoloft, what dose seemed to work for you? I know everyone is different but I guess I am looking into some reassurance that I will get back to myself once I do eventually increase.

Thank you

Before I got pregnant I was on 200mg but they dropped me down to 100mg because of health risks with the baby. I intend to go back up to 200 because the 100 still has me feeling like shit.

Edit: tb ate half my post.

  • Thank you for responding. I really want to increase my meds and hope once I do I will feel like my old self
  • @kjoseph81 I'm lurking from Feb17. I take Zoloft, as well. I was actually taking 100mgs pre-pregnancy. But I started getting really stressed out and depressed.  My doctor increased my dose to 150mgs and I'm grateful.  I'm doing much better.  My APN and doctor have both told me that Zoloft is the safest one out there and both, in their experiences, have not seen any side effects to the baby (of course long term side effects are not yet studied, though).

  • I was taking 150mg until July when my doctor decided to gradually lower to 125 and then 100 in anticipation for the birth...dumbest idea ever. I crashed about 3-4 weeks after being on 100mg. To the point where I had to miss a week of work. I've been back to 150mg for a little over 3 weeks now and while I am feeling better, I'm not back to myself, but at least I'm on mat leave now and don't have to think about work (not that that keeps me from stressing about other stuff...)

  • On 150 here, too. Used to take a higher dose of lexapro pre-pregnancy, then switched to zoloft and went down (in equivalence) to 150. Works well for me, except if I forget to take it for a few days.
