    I needed this today.

My L&D is mine. So I went in last night after 24 hrs of back cramps+uncomfortable contractions+loss of MP(yes i know it can regrow)+plus decreased fetal movement(she was still moving just not as much. Instead of a 10min kick count, it was over 30 min).

The night nurse, after admitting me, didn't speak to me once until she was discharging me. She didn't come into the room, didn't check to see if I was having contrax that the machine wasn't picking up, nothing.

So when discharging me I get the 'come back if: uncomfortable contrax, blood, back ache that is timable/contrax that are timable, decreased FM even is its just less . . .' As I'm sitting there having to breath through a contrax, doubled over the bed, and my mom is working s tennis ball into my back.

ETA: rest of post. Stupid bump ate it.

So when we point out that we are here for all but blood in that list I basically get a pat on the head accompanied by 'well the machine isnt/wasnt picking anything up so there isn't anything i can do.

Bitch, its in my file multiple times that even when i was in pit - my contrax never show up on your machines. Also that i have a high pain tolerance, so if I say it's uncomfortable you know its bad. DID YOU EVEN READ MY FILE?!?!? Obviously not, or you wouldn't be discharging me while I'm still having issues.

  • @Kate08Young - That sounds miserable! Were you able to call your OB in to help run interference? I can't stand the patronizing crap that so many hospital staff pull with patients. I totally understand that you're seeing a lot of people, but you're going to let some slip through cracks if you keep ignoring their complaints. I would think that in L&D they would be especially sensitive to your concerns, but apparently no. So, did they end up discharging you? Are you still contracting?

He fell at school and landed into a stool.  He put his bottom teeth through the skin under his lower lip.  And he's great until someone tries to touch or look at it.  He is freaking out as soon as anyone walks into the room.  I need a freaking drink.  So sad for my little buddy.

  • @Kate08Young - I hope they figure it out soon and you don't have any more unnecessary trips to L&D.

@DiFazette - Poor little guy!!! I'm so sorry he's (you're) going through that! I know that feeling of just being so helpless when your little one is in pain. It's agonizing. I just try to think back on all of the terrible injuries I had as a child and how I'm not traumatically scarred for life from any of them. This acute pain is terrible for now, but it will pass. And please be sure to take care of yourself. Talk to a nurse if you're having an anxiety attack. They can help you with that. <hugs>

  • @Difazette That reminds me of when I was a kid, maybe age 4-5? I was at my grandparent's house and tripped into their couch. I ended up biting through my tongue and went to the ER for them to mainly just place ice on it since you couldn't do much for it anyway (it grew back together on it's own). My Grandpa still tells me the story, as he stayed up most of the night with me and gave me popsicles whenever I needed them.

Falls are never fun for kids!

Minor BF... I have my first shower this weekend that a few friends are hosting. For this one, I mainly invited a small amount of friends and then some of my-side family members. DH's family is hosting one on the 22nd and it will be big. Anyway, it's on Sunday which I knew some people wouldn't be able to make it since they live out of town, and I completely understand that. However, one of my aunt's (mom's sister) is choosing not to come since they have some other relatives in town this upcoming weekend (cousins) and she's hosting them at her house Saturday. They live 3 hours away, and she has done the same day trips MANY times before. Note: My mom is actually going there on Saturday (going and coming back) in order to see some of these relatives. So, with my aunt not making it... that means that my Grandma won't make it either. She also missed my bridal shower, as my aunt didn't want to drive with the Labor Day traffic on the interstate (we live in ND, traffic is NEVER bad), and that was on a Saturday! My aunt has never worked since she had kids, so it's not as if she doesn't have the time. Just bugs me... as she could easily make it just to get my Grandma here.

  • My BF is the flu shot. My doctor had been out the last two appointments I had, so I didn't want to wait any longer and tried to get it this weekend.
    1. CVS - their pharmacist certification was out of date and she can't do them, but I could go to the Minute Clinic. Go there and see about 10 sick looking people waiting..no thanks.
    2. Walgreens - Insist I HAVE to have the preservative free version because I'm pregnant, and they're out.
    3. Fry's - Makes no mention of needing preservative free, but while running my insurance discover my insurance doesn't cover it there.

    Then I gave up.
  • My husband's ex...ugh. My stepson is having a hard time in school - he's 12, and I think it's a combination of undiagnosed ADD and typical middle school kids being jerks. He's such a good kid, and she pulls so much petty BS with DH that, at the end of the day, only hurts her son. It makes me really sad for him and for DH, who is trying to be the bigger person and make sure the kid is getting the help and guidance he needs.
  • @gowenc I'm in a similar situation with DH's ex and it sucks. I know I feel powerless about the whole situation. In my experience anything we have tried to do to make the situation better for my stepson has actually made it worse. Good luck and hopefully you guys can get some help for him.

My BF is myself. I'm tired and cranky and just don't want to do anything. I'm over adulting today.
  • @Kate08Young, sounds like that nurse needs to find a new line of work. I hope you can get things straightened out today!

@DiFazette poor little guy! It's so hard when they're so little and can't understand all that's going on :(

My complaint is that I woke up at 2:00 this morning with the worst charley horse I've ever had. I'm talking wide awake from a deep sleep. It's still hanging on. Uuuugh!

  • @beff12 - I get charley horses on the nightly during pregnancy. I think I've only had one that REALLY didn't want to go away though. Most of them will give up when I start flexing my foot and rubbing my calf. But yea, my calves are sore most days because they're cramping at night. Do you think I can count that as a workout? It feels like I've worked them out...

    I have a second smaller/less dramatic one.

My practice baby, Dally the pomchi, somehow got KU. -We were waiting in our vet to get her small animal certs, as she does primarily livestock, to get her fixed- Well apparently we missed watching Dally one day for like maybe 10 minutes. Now we have 6 puppies. I'm 3 hrs away, and H is working 12-18 hr shifts and Dally is a FTM. WTF? How are these puppies going to get adequate care right now?

  • @Kate08Young - that's so frustrating.  Hopefully your doctor can offer something more helpful today.

@DiFazette - sorry about DS, hope he is on the mend soon.

I have a cold, which is likely bc we visited my brother briefly this week and my nieces were sick and he didn't warn us before we came and of course they don't understand that we don't want them climbing all over us bc they are sick.  So now I'm sick and I have a long week this week and I hope that I'm better by Saturday since that's my shower :(.
  • My BF is DH. Last year, after 5 years of trying, we won a raffle at his office party for a dinner cruise. Yes! We haven't used it yet and it expires end of December, so crunch time. I finally got his October schedule yesterday and saw we can go this Sunday. Now he's dragging his feet saying he really doesn't want to go because he's not a boat person. So it turned into a huge discussion last night with me finally telling him we'll give it away and him saying no we'll go because he doesn't want to be selfish. Today the conversation continues and I just don't know. I've been looking forward to this thing since we won it and I never would have put in for the raffle had I known he'd be like this. In fact, he never disuaded me from entering said raffles. Do we go and risk him being miserable the whole time or should I just give them away?

  • @kbduke Sorry to hear you're going through the something similar. I worry a lot about my stepson - their split was really hard on him, and now we're adding a new baby to the family. He'll be a great older brother but I think he also has some anxiety about how things are going to change, and there's already been a lot of change for him over the last few years. DH and I moved in together 2.5 years ago, and just got married a year ago. If we were younger we would have waited a couple years before trying to get pregnant, but I'm 38 and he's 40, so we didn't really have time to kill.

  • @dmontgo - I definitely would've slooowed way down.  WTH?

Idk if this is really a "bitch", maybe more of a worry.  My grandmother is back in the hospital after breaking her hip.  She has been in and out of the hospital a lot lately, and my mom just moved her back here from Florida into an assisted living facility bc it was getting too hard for her to fly down to Florida every time there was a medical problem.  I was so excited to have her up here to spend more time with her and now I'm starting to worry again.  I know she's old and she'll die at some point but every time she's in the hospital I'm afraid this is it.
  • @Kacie209 @penelope4612 What made me so upset about how rude (and stupid) they were being is that I'm pregnant, I'm exhausted from my BP meds, and I tweaked my back earlier so I'm moving slow to the point that if they were going to stare, the least they could have done was asked if I needed help. I hate going grocery shopping in this town.
  • Also, @penelope4612 I'm sorry about your grandma. DH's grandma is 93 and we are hoping she can meet Ashton before she passes--she's been in the hospital a lot lately too. :(
  • My BF is my DH's job. He's the pastor of a medium-sized church and the people in his congregation are being such jerks. He's planning to take 4 weeks paternity leave when our little one is born, (He is entitled to up to 8 weeks paid leave with the birth of a child.) and they're giving him crap about it. I just want to yell at all of them. Pastors make little money, work terrible hours and get very few benefits. No one should be giving him shit for taking advantage of one of the few he gets and spending time with his family. I'm not a very sweet pastor's wife these days!
  • @dmontgo love that you said something too! And I would've been painfully slow at that point haha.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @dmontgo I always wonder where people like that come from. Like how do they think that behavior is acceptable? Good job not going off on them!
  • @kbduke I think there is like, a giant asshole in the middle of nowhere, spawning these people. It's the only explanation.
  • I think I have calmed down a little after reading all of your BF's but my BF is insurance and/or my primary doctor.  2 years ago, my primary doctor referred me to a gynecologist, who then referred me to a fertility specialist, who then sent me to an OB in their network because they have a better record with my condition than the previous OBGYN, who then last week had to refer me to a diabetes clinic.  So I am scheduled for my GD class tomorrow and I get a call today at noon that my primary doctor is refusing to complete prior authorization for the class because he didn't refer me to this doctor.  My insurance says that the referral must come from my primary doctor or it won't be covered, my doctor's office said I can come in for an appointment and explain all of this to him, but he can't see me until Wednesday.  If I don't go to the class tomorrow I have to wait another week.  I have a ton of anxiety about this so I'm going to go and if my insurance doesn't I will just pay the $200.  It's ridiculous.  The questions I have answered today dealing with this, I'm not putting this off, it's a health issue for me and my child, if you can't work with me then I will find a new primary doctor.  It's not like this is something I asked for, and I just want more money to be spent on me/my baby.  I know there are policies and there is insurance fraud and everything, but can't we work this out later and get me the treatment that I need now?
  • @BenNSarah that is some serious BS. Would your PCP and the class maybe fudge paperwork so you could go to the this week, but on paper it would be next week?

  • @kate08young I did ask that question, the receptionist said it was worth asking and the insurance said it was fine to back date it if the doctor is okay with that.  So I'm going, planning to pay if insurance doesn't pay, and then hoping to reason this out with my PCP and get them to bill insurance.  The class is requiring me to sign a waiver, that I will pay if my insurance doesn't.  But in the big picture it's worth it to me. I am still meeting with my doctor to get a referral to prevent any future payment issues.
  • @dmontgo Anyone being that douchey can wait. I also would have slowed down on purpose. In addition who has a favorite self-check out register? You're asking to wait.
