I had my second IUI today, but not feeling very hopeful about it. I had possibly 3 follicles maturing at my scan CD10, which was better than last month (only 1) so I thought our odds would be better. But DH's count was much lower this time only 4.1M total motile post wash.... I think they hope for at least 10M
I know it only takes one, but our doctor is concerned because it seems like his count keeps dropping each time they do a SA. This just sucks.
QOTW - my worst job ever was working in a dairy research lab in college. I had to be there at 4am, there were 12 cows in these white chambers (they were measuring methane output) and our job was to milk them, clean their chambers and weigh their poop. I was literally scrubbing cow poop off of white walls, only to have them poop and splatter it all over again. It was the worst, definitely not worth the minimum wage I was being paid. I only did that for a few months.

@ReesaAnne16 I'm sorry H's count was so low. I completely understand being disheartened; I was in your place last cycle. But I really hope you got some fast swimmers in there. FX! Is H seeing a urologist, too, or is there nothing they can do? I'm sorry, I can't remember! That's what our RE has been urging us to do, so we're meeting with one who specializes in reproductive issues in two weeks.
AFM CD1 here. Baseline tomorrow and then hopefully starting the whole IUI thing again for round 3. DH both agree we want to keep trying while we wait to meet with the urologist. And if that doc can't do anything anyway, it would be a shame to miss this cycle.
I had my first group therapy session last night and really enjoyed it. Sometimes it's just nice to talk to people who understand face-to-face. The therapist had great advice to distract ourselves by being productive in other areas of our lives--I'll start by finishing organizing our linen closet and pantry.
ETA QOTW My first real adult job my boss turned into a right witch the second year. I quickly bailed out and she actually apologized to me when I saw her again a few years later.
@Bababatty He saw a urologist about 6 months ago, who ran the dna frag test (which my doctor says doesn't really matter, so there is some conflict there). His counts were good then, just lowish morphology and high dna frag. The urologist wanted to put him on a supplement; I've had him on vitamins instead but he has been really bad about taking them for the last 1-2 months.
I think today was a wake up call for him; he really needs to be taking these vitamins and we are considering cutting out caffeine and alcohol too.

@ReesaAnne16 Sorry to hear about DH low numbers. I hope you get a pleasant surprise this month.
AF started today. I have a call in to my doctors office. The plan was to try 2 months of Clomid (which we did) and then 2 months of Letrozole. Just waiting to hear back from the nurse to make sure that is still the route we are taking.
My worst job ever, by far, was when I worked for a collections agency in college. Nothing worse than people yelling at you over the phone. Needless to say, I didnt do it for long.
ReesaAnne16 FX for this IUI... i'm sorry his numbers are low but like you said, it just takes one strong swimmer
I am meeting with my RE next Tuesday to go over all my numbers from the blood work, discuss DHs latest SA and figure out a plan due to my blocked tube... i have one open tube so, at least there is that
My worst job was 3rd shift cleaning crew at a meat packing plant... it was not only physically hard but also just disgusting... I only stayed like a week haha

I have finally gotten my BFP! My beta on Monday at 10dpFET was 179.3 and today at 12dpFET it had more than doubled to 480.3! DH and I are so over the moon with happiness right now. I can't even describe to you what my brain has been doing the last few days. I was so sure that my clinic was going to call saying my beta was negative on Monday, and then today I was sure they were going to call saying that my HCG level is going down. I am just beyond thrilled! My first ultrasound to look for the heartbeat is scheduled for 10/18, when I'll be 7 weeks along, but I'm going to ask and see if they will let me come in the week before at 6 weeks, just so I don't have to wait so long!
Thank you everyone for all your support as I've been on this horrific infertility journey! We did our first IUI back in November after receiving our MFI diagnosis last October. It has been almost a year of treatments and constantly going to the RE's office. I'm praying those days are over for me, at least until we start TTC #2!
@ReesaAnne16 Please feel free to reach out to me for support... I am no stranger to low sperm counts and I know very well how hopeless that can feel. My fingers are crossed for you with this IUI though! Good luck hun!!
QOTW: The worst job I ever had was when I worked as an assistant to the most arrogant and narcissistic lawyer you could possibly imagine. @Bababatty If you don't mind me asking, is your group therapy specifically for TTC? Is it through an organization or a private therapist? If those are too personal, please don't feel the need to respond. I'm glad you had a wonderful experience!
Congratulations, @wifeinraleigh28!! That's such great news! Wishing you a happy and healthy nine months!
We're still waiting for my follow up appt after my HSG and H's SA. We've decided (unless my doctor says something entirely different) to continue trying on our own for the rest of this year and seek treatment after the first of the year, if necessary. We're pretty optimistic following both tests coming back clear/normal. I've also ovulated earlier in the last two cycles, so I'm hoping that's a sign that my body is getting itself on track.

@pretzel2plus1 I'm happy to talk about it. It's a group for women dealing with infertility in general and it's run by a licensed therapist. I actually originally saw it listed on Resolve's website--they have a great search feature for both peer- and therapist-led support groups in your area. But I only decided to attend when by pure luck the therapist I found for one-on-one therapy through psychologytoday--a resource that I think was recommended to me by @wifeinraleigh28?--happened to be the one who leads that group. My understanding is that these groups are sanctioned by Resolve and follow Resolve protocols regarding privacy outside the group and such.
Hi ladies! @wifeinraleigh28 yahoo!! Loved seeing that after being in this group for so long with you. I've been benched since August taking a bunch of pharmaceuticals for off label use and feeling discouraged. However, the blood level my RE has been trying to increase finally did! My tumor necrosis factor has been undetectable and I just got updated labs back this a.m. and it is in range!!! I have no idea what this actually means yet but I have renewed faith that my RE knows what he is doing. Also my RE's wife reached out to me after seeing me post in a fb group & it turns out she also has a MTHFR defect and is dealing with RPL. She said he pours over research studies every night....knowing his wife is in the same boat made me trust him even more.
qotw: this was tough for me b/c I feel like I've always liked to work? I would say a job at an insurance defense firm I had in law school b/c they only hired me as a favor to one of their clients and they put me in an isolated office and gave me no guidance. And it was boring!

@wifeinraleigh28 I know it is super hard to wait until that first ultrasound, but I went at 6 weeks and we really couldn't see anything but a pregnancy sac. I love that you have a photo of the embryo though. We were just comparing our little bean's u/s pictures to see how baby had changed and grown. DH and I are now on our final natural cycle before seeing an RE. October will mark 3 years since we started NTNP. It's crazy how you can keep making up reasons as to why it's not working so you don't have to take the dreaded "infertile" title. And then before you know it 3 years of your life is gone and youre still not pregnant. I was really really hopeful about last cycle: perfectly timed, temps rose consistently and were higher than normal (I have really low temps, getting to 98* is rare), AF was a day late and then BOOM, she showed up full force, ugh. Currently cd5 so about 2 more weeks before O day. FX this is the cycle!

Was able to get a hold of the nurse yesterday. I start Letrozole 5mg tomorrow. I'm having pretty yucky PMS today. Between that, a staff call-in on AM shift, a staff call-in on PM shift, and wanting to pull my hair out because of a difficult person regarding work...I am not in a good mood today. But, the best part about my job is every day is different, so tomorrow will probably be better.
@GoldenKeys Could you please update me to Letrozole 5mg for treatment. Thank you.
As for me, I'm in weird limbo land. We're officially NTNP for a few months, probably entering FW and hubs is out of town. Ugh. Have an appointment with a new doc on the 19th to see if we can't get my cycles balanced naturally during our "break".
Worst job was working at a plant nursery. Great in theory, but when they asked me to go label 300+ saplings with no idea what was what, I realized it was not a good fit. I feel bad for anyone who wasn't expecting a mystery tree...
@wifeinraleigh28 congrats!! Always so happy to see BFPs on this board! yay!
@ReesaAnne16 how many days do they tell you guys to restrain from ejaculation pre IUI? Our instructions tell us 3 days, but I've seen people on other boards post that they BD day before IUI, I wonder if, for some guys, that does affect numbers? It does only take one good swimmer though
@lablover78 happy to hear your numbers are in a good spot! I have a friend who was dx with MTHFR too, she followed the diet very strictly, but didn't have any change in symptoms. Her new MD isn't convinced that she actually had it. I don't know much about it, but if it has anything to do with protein misfolding, there could definitely be different severity levels. it's all very interesting.
After 3 BFNs this week I finally hit CD1 yesterday. I was pretty crushed since this was the first time I had a really good feeling about a cycle. So it's on to IUI#2. I called the OBs office and asked why we weren't doing medicated cycles and suggested maybe letrazole and progesterone suppositories. My OB said he didn't want to put me on anything for ovulation since I already do that part, so we will start using the progesterone this cycle. Unfortunately we will be out of town visiting family during my next FW, so it's just going to be BD with progesterone this cycle, then IUI again starting November.
I was really against IVF when we started trying and it's still really hard for me to imagine spending so much money on it only to have it not take or to MC early on, but I have to say this board has kind of softened my tune on IVF. I'm hoping it doesn't come to that, but it's definitely looming out there and I'm definitely open to it now if we can financially swing it.

Hi Ladies, I went in for a nutrition consult with the PA after being directed to limit folate rich foods due to my genetic mutations and my RE had a cancellation and wanted to see me about my recent labs. My head is still spinning but I am now waiting for them to call about some labs they drew. Depending on how high my estrogen is he may have me take a low does of Femara. He scheduled me to come back for an intralipid infusion on Monday to address natural killer cells (I have been reading about this in my Reproductive Immunology facebook grp but didn't realize it would be part of my tx plan too). If I don't get a positive O by Wednesday they will have me trigger and then we either do TI or an IUI. I was NOT expecting things to move forward so quickly but I am feeling encouraged and hopeful!
TTC since May 2013

@ReesaAnne16 My RE always had my husband ejaculate the day of my trigger (so 2 days before IUI or egg retrieval) and then abstain. He also had to abstain for exactly 2 days prior to each SA during our testing days. He said if he were to abstain longer than that the sperm wouldn't be fresh enough, and if he didn't abstain for the 2 days that his count would go down!
@lablover78 Congrats on moving forward with this cycle! I agree with your doctor that it's time to get you pregnant!

Hey everyone! Well, we got another BFP yesterday! I really wasn't expecting it, not even sure what made me take the test, I took it in the afternoon which I never do and I forgot to look at it for a while, haha. My FIL was coming over so I remembered to go move it out of the bathroom and it was a clear positive! Faint, but I was only 10dpo yesterday. It's definitely a different feeling this time around, I mean it's only been 4 weeks since we lost the last one! Crazy. I'm feeling pretty calm about it, definitely happy but not overly confident. They're having me wait until Monday to come in for blood work, so we will see how things look! I'm not sure if they will want to put me on progesterone after the loss, I guess they'll decide after they see my levels? Idk! Smile on my face and thinking of you all, hugs to all who need one!!!!!!!!!! Lots of love!

Re: TTTC Checkin 09/28/2016

AF started today. I have a call in to my doctors office. The plan was to try 2 months of Clomid (which we did) and then 2 months of Letrozole. Just waiting to hear back from the nurse to make sure that is still the route we are taking.

He ended up firing me because I messed up a legal document that he forced me to write up with zero training on how to do so. Apparently I lost him a lot of money (but it was all his fault).

@ReesaAnne16 So sorry to hear about your H's numbers, but you're right: it only takes one!Thinking of you both this week.
QOTW: Not nearly as bad as some of yours, but probably a retail job I worked in high school and one college summer. My boss didn't schedule fairly and would schedule me and another girl to work her normal shifts whenever she wanted to go party.

@Worldtravler0522 axious to hear your results! fx for you!
Worst job ever: When I was in HS I tried cold calling for my dad's insurance business. I did it for one day and told him no more. I switched to doing all of his filing instead....that lasted about a week....then I decided to get a mall job like everyone else. haha.
