I've got possibly my last 2 week appointment on Wednesday. I thought we had another at 2 weeks after this but DH says this was our last and my mom agrees that it should be our last and we should be going to weekly. I'll report back after Wednesday's appt.
Had an appointment this morning at 34 weeks. Doctor's exact words: "Wow, you're growing a big baby in there." It's making me nervous. She's measuring so big I'm going to have to have an ultrasound at 36-38 weeks to see just how big ... I was planning on trying for a VBAC, but from what the doctor said today it sounds like with her potentially being huge, it wouldn't be safe for me to do so. He said we would decide after the ultrasound. I just don't get why this is happening ... DS was 7 lbs, 11 oz. I don't have GD and, yes, I have gained a lot of weight, but it was like that with DS too. I am an average size person and so is DH. Ugh, it's just stressful not being able to make a birth plan and wondering why she is growing so large and if I did something to cause it
Sitting here waiting for my 32 week appt. was happy that I got in the room right at 9 with vitals taken. 35 min later still sitting here waiting wtf. Can't imagine how late the afternoon appointments will be. My appt was 9am
And im sweating bad. My clothes are fitted and I sweat when nervous so it is a bad combo (no need to be nervous I just sweat whenever I wait I think).
I have my 34 week appt. this afternoon; I am pretty sure this one is just a check in; my next appt. will be 36 weeks and they will be measuring baby and doing an exam. I will continue weekly appts. from that point on.
I have 2 tomorrow. An ultrasound to check one last time on babies development (due to surgery at 27 weeks) and then I see my OB. if baby is breech still I'll be booked in for a section for week 39. He's also doing my swab for group b strep. Has anyone done this previously? How is it? I tend to dislike this sort of thing. I would much prefer blood work.
@kristah2 the swab is no worse than a pelvic exam. They have to swab the inside of the vagina to see if the Group b strep is present. Not detectable by blood. No big deal.
And if you do have group b strep, that's no big deal either. They just give you antibiotics during labor.
I had one yesterday with my regular ob where I got blood work like I do every time and I already got the results and everything is great! Still have preeclampsia but right now it looks stable. My blood pressure was pretty normal too! We scheduled my induction for the 17th of October! Then I have my high risk appointment tomorrow where they told me to always bring my hospital bag beccause it's likely before I get to 37 weeks my fluids will be off and I'll be induced at that time. It's been a crazy ride but I love seeing my little one every Friday! Good luck to everyone at your appointments this week!

I'm a FTM, so not really knowledgeable about this, but I feel like most of the things I've read/heard is that by 3rd trimester the size measurements are not very accurate. I was told that part of the reason they do all the measuring at 20 weeks is because it's close to the time when baby gets too big and cramped in there to have it be accurate. Is there another dr in the office that you can see next time for a 2nd opinion? But even if baby is big, there is no reason you can't still at least try to have a VBAC. Here's a birth story that proves it's possibe: https://www.mamabirth.com/2011/11/10-pound-vbac-oh-yeah.html And some information by a doula about drs using big baby as a scare tactic to schedule a c-section: https://www.pregnancy.org/article/vbac-scare-tactics-big-baby-big-problems
@kristah2 I was surprised by the rectum swab during the step b test. That wasn't my favorite part, but it wasn't horrible.
They swab your butt?!?
Yup! With my first when my ob did the swab she goes "this swab is going in your butt, just so you don't think I ended up there by mistake." It made me laugh.
@leighry - I had no clue that they did that, good to know that's coming up.
I just had my appt and the dr mentioned I was measuring big (35 when I should be 32). He said that those numbers can be off as much as 2-3 in either direction so he isn't worried, but if I measure big at the next appt they may want to schedule an u/s to check things out. This is the first time anyone has ever mentioned that I'm big, but I also usually see a midwife at the practice and this was one of the OBs - maybe she's just more relaxed about that kind of thing. Though I swear she's always made a comment about how I'm measuring right where I'm supposed to be, so maybe it was just the way he measures. I see the midwife again in a couple weeks and I'll be curious to see what she says.
The heartbeat was also a bit higher than normal, but baby was also hiccuping at the time and the dr figured the jump was just connected to the activity.
Just an FYI for those of you with group b strep swabs coming up in a couple weeks.. it's not too bad! Yay! In other news from today's appointment. Baby is still breech. Signed my consent for a c section. Will have my date at my next appointment on Thursday. He ia also 6lbs!
ummm wait, they swab your butt?? how come no one in real life has mentioned this haha
This was my thought... Why the hell did my OB not mention this when they were telling me about the test? I feel like this is an important piece of information that should have been brought to my attention. Mental preparation is kinda important!
Had my 35 wk check up today, heartbeat was up towards my rib cage, so the doc is suspecting breech. We will have an ultrasound next week for growth and position and found out more. Had the strep b test today and you honestly don't feel the swab much. I will be curious to see what the position of the baby is next week! I had my first naturally , so I am hoping to again, but if a c-section is needed then that's what will happen. If I do have to have a c-section I hoe they let me have it on Halloween!
