Desperate for information, 1 healthy pregnancy then 2 miscarriages in a row

I'm probably going to have another miscarriage in the next few days. I really need help from anyone who can explain this to me or has had a similar situation. I had a perfect low risk pregnancy 2 years ago and have a beautiful healthy son. We started trying this year to get pregnant with our 2nd child. I got pregnant in April and had my first miscarriage in May. We finally got pregnant again this September, and I'm about to have another miscarriage soon due to my dropping hcg levels. I just don't understand how I had such a perfect first pregnancy and have had 2 miscarriages in a row since then. Has anyone had a similar situation, and did you receive a diagnosis or anything? I'm O positive, so it's not an rh negative thing. I just feel completely distraught and I really think any kind of information or answers would help.

First I am so sorry you are going through this.  You need to request that a RLP (recurrent loss panel) be ran,  a lot of docs won't do it until your 3rd loss but be persistent.  I found out that I have miscarriage factors through this test and now I am given additional medications during pregnancy.

Thank you, this is really helpful, I might switch doctors, last time the only person I ever got to speak to was a lab tech, this time it's the same. I feel like they are trying to make me wait till it happens a third time, but I can't go through this again.

@heatherwilson321 I'm really sorry you're going through this.  I don't have any personal experience, but my heart goes out to you.
There are some loss boards on TB that might be helpful to you as well.  The TTCAL and PGAL boards come to mind as places you may find some better answers to your questions and are communities made up of people who know exactly what you're feeling like, as you're certainly not alone in your sadness and frustration.
I really hope you're able to find some answers! 

eta: I just want to add that it would probably be a good idea to lurk around those boards a little bit, too, before jumping right in, because close-knit communities often have some established etiquette/rules that you may want to follow.

I'm sorry for your losses. I also had a perfect uneventful pregnancy with my son. I then had 3 losses in a row. Found out I have a blood clotting disorder. I'm taking extra supplements, progesterone and baby aspirin.

I'm so sorry you're going throgugh this. My friend had the same thing happen, one perfectly normal pregnancy followed by 2 miscarriages. She found out she has MTHFR and the prenatal she happened to be on with her first with a special type of folic acid that helped her have a healthy pregnancy. I would definitely push for blood work being done.  Sending prayers to you.

ETA: after doing testing she now has a beautiful, healthy baby girl.

@heatherwilson321 all of these should be found in the RLP.  It test for all sorts things, when I did it hey drew close to 40 vials of blood so you might want to eat before it's ran.

So sorry that you're going through this.  It's hard finding a doctor who will listen and run the proper tests.  It took me three doctors to finally find one that would look into things.  I have had three miscarriages and seems like (because of HCG numbers) I am now going through another.  The doctor who ran tests on me did so after two.  Then she referred me to someone with more expertise.  The doctor I am currently working with has tried a certain combination of things but it sucks because with things like this it's not an exact science.  Keep looking until you find a doctor who will listen and who genuinely seems to want to help!  It may not be a quick fix but it will at least help you feel like you're making some sort of progress.

I'm sorry you are going through this. The sad reality is that 1/3 women miscarry. It's primarily caused by something genetically. Both of my miscarriages were caused by genetic abnormalities. I'm still currently with my OBGYN that I have been with this whole time. He's very invested into my pregnancy. I trust him, I think that's what you really need to find is an OB that you trust. with my last miscarriage they did genetic testing on the remains, they found a few things wrong. If you do have another miscarriage, I would highly suggest asking to see if this is a possibility. Until I heard those results I blamed myself, then when I found out what happened I discovered that A) it was best case scenario and B ) there was nothing I did wrong to cause this miscarriage.

It sounds like we have VERY similar stories. I have a 2 year old daughter...we had no issues conceiving or during pregnancy. When we decided to try for our 2nd we again got pregnant right away...we have now had 3 miscarriages. I was told probably chromosomal issue/fluke and to just keep trying until the 3rd one and then they would do testing. We saw another doc in the practice to confirm the last miscarriage and she recommended the next time we get pregnant to start taking a baby aspirin once a day. 

We moved across the country for my husbands job one week after our 3rd miscarriage. We had to wait 60 days for insurance to kick in and then we were going to do any and all testing. BUT then we were surprised with a positive test one week before my first gyno appt. I am about 8 weeks and have been taking the aspirin since the day I found out. I had slight bleeding last week and went in for an ultrasound and everything seems ok...just a small bleed and will go back next week. 

I don't really have any answers since we didn't get around to testing but just wanted to let you know you're not alone!! It's so frustrating and makes getting pregnant scary instead of exciting. Sorry you are going through this too! Ask your doc about aspirin...most are skeptical but also say it can't hurt! Wishing you the best!!!
