Re: Stupid Question Sunday

I hope it's ok that I get us rolling on this one! It's for totally selfish reasons.

My first question (there may be more later) is when does this infamous "pregnancy constipation" start?
(TMI?) I'm very very early (4wks tomorrow) but if anything I've been going more than usual. It probably doesn't help that I faked drinking all night last night so I had WAY more sugary drinks than I'm used to. I bought stool softeners they day of my BFP but I'm afraid to take them right now.

  • I don't think everyone gets that. I didn't have it before with either of my boys.

    11.2011 - DS1

    02.2013 - loss at 6 wks

    06.2014 - DS2

    10.2015 - loss at 12 wks

    03.2017 - DD

  • So, I had constipation issues with my first two, because of the medication I was on for M/S. Zofran makes you poop bricks.

This time, the sluggish bowels are what tipped me off that I might be pregnant. I had taken a test a week prior and it was negative. So I figured it hadn't happened for us this cycle. Suddenly I was exhausted, tender boobs, and really sluggish bowels. Not necessarily constipated, but I can sit there for 10 minutes or more trying to let gravity do its thing. We have a squatty potty at home, and it's the best thing ever. My FIL gifted them to all us kids after he had surgery for a pooping issue. He's very big on healthy pooping now haha. But that thing is amazing!! I love it!!
  • I've heard about the squatty potty!! I think my main worry is that these are "period poops" and my BFP is just a figment of my imagination. It's so weird to know this early before I'm even really truly "pregnant." I'm sure it'll come. Plus like I said. Damn ginger beer last night (nonalcoholic for anyone not familiar with ginger beer) had all the sugar in it which gave me quite a stomach ache.
  • I didn't have any issues with going to the bathroom while pregnant. I did after for about 6 months and it was not fun. Constipation and hard poops hurt lol.
  • @ShadeofGreen816 you're aren't the only one that feels like your BFP is a figment of your imagination...any one else still taking HPTs just to make sure?? I feel like I BSC!

Uhm yes!! Hello, my name is ShadeofGreen. And I'm addicted to peeing on things.

The worst part is I've been drinking water like crazy so my pee is super dilute and my line isn't getting darker! But it was amber when I took my first one so I'm trying not to make myself crazy. I think I'm going to take a digital tomorrow am before I call to get a dr appointment just to make myself feel better.

ETA: Maybe its that I'm making an effort to stay hydrated but the peeing is already out of control!! I was fake drinking last night and I peed so much that everyone kept telling me I broke the seal too early. I'm like no, just knocked up.
  • First- constipation has already started for me, I had it the whole time with my first but prune juice every morning helped immensely. I'm 5 weeks and husband has been dispatched to the grocery store!
second- first trimester blows, nothing really happens and mc is always on my mind. That said, I try to remind myself it's ok to be excited, even with the risk. It will be very sad and I don't know how I would handle it, but not being happy now won't change the loss you know? Does anyone have the "this is the risk for not having a miscarriage grid"? I've seen it on another bmbs and I found it really reassuring! I had a mmc a couple of months ago and can't imagine how devastating a later loss would be

  • I also had "period poops" right before my BFP and a little after. I feel like yesterday evening everything started going back to normal. But no constipation yet.

I'm definitely on the same page about it not feeling real. I haven't taken any more pregnancy tests but I probably go and check to make sure my period hasn't started at least every two hours. We've waited so long for this, I just still am in the best state of shock lol.

  • Any other stupid questions out there? I'm feeling like the only stupid noob! :)
  • I rarely experienced constipation with my first and with this one, so far so good. Hopefully it stays that way because constipation sucks! Peeing postpartum shortly after a vaginal birth suck too.

I also still POAS at least once or twice a week since I had an early loss back in May. I feel more anxious with this pregnancy than my first actually, seeing that I only POAS twice then and was like okay that's it, and got a dating ultrasound.

  • Here's a stupid question. How early do women usually start showing? I'm so bloated all the time, I already feel like I look way bigger than normal (although I haven't fluctuated in weight yet). I'm curious when my "bump" will actually be the baby.
  • Is anyone else going through a yeast infection right now? This is the second one I've have in three months. The first one I had vagisil and it was gone in two days, oddly enough. With this one, I'm on day 4 of itchy uncomfortableness and I am not wanting to take anything because I'm only 7w+4d. Any home remedies???

Re: constipation, it didn't kick in for me for a couple of weeks. I'm almost at 7 weeks and this past week has been, ahem, a challenge. Hopefully you'll avoid this affliction, but chances are it hasn't started yet.
  • Oh, another question. I know we're not advised to eat cured meats. None of the lists I find include bacon...so, is bacon ok to eat?

    Call your doctor.
Yes. OTC yeast treatments aren't super effective and you could have a bacterial infection instead.
  • @starphish18 I totally feel you!  I have such an awful bloat belly right now lol! I didn't start really showing last time until about 15 weeks, but the bloat came and went until it was all baby. However, my boobs suddenly got huge at like 8 weeks so my bloat wasn't as noticeable haha
  • @NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot give me all the lunch meat, both when pregnant with DD and now. The idea of warming deli meat kind of turns my stomach.

Yeast treatments are effective for yeast! But not bacterial vaginosis ;) (the point you are making). Best to get checked out to know what you actually need to treat.

Thanks! I shouldn't bump while in a drive through! Definitely my point. ♥️
  • Of course I called my doctor but with it being a Sunday, the on-call nurse isn't getting back to me very quickly so I figured I would ask here to see if anyone had home remedies or could commiserate with me until I hear back from my doctors office.

  • @SaVi925 Glad you got through! I only said call the dr because not only yeast infections can make you itchy and miserable. Some unsolicited tips...  Make sure you're not using any soaps down there and may even need to use a fragrance free laundry detergent. Cotton underwear and no panty liners. Sleep in some baggy pants without undies if you can stand it. Also sometimes the Aveeno oatmeal bath that they sell in pouches is helpful for a short soak to reduce itchiness and inflammation. :)
  • @SaVi925 I don't but my friend gets them a lot and she uses apple cider vinegar in some warm water s few times a day. It's supposed to be good for morning sickness too! Btw, I'm 7 weeks 4 days too!
  • @NurseK2016 Count me down for another HPT just now. The line is finally getting darker! I need to NOT test anymore but I'm pretty sure it'll only stop when I run out of tests.... I'm crazy. Someone tell me I'm crazy. I just can't believe it's still positive because I don't feel any different yet.

I tested again yesterday too and you probably won't stop once you run out of tests, I had to go buy more lol.
  • I only had two tests to begin with lol. Now I'm just waiting for my GP appointment on Tuesday to get it officially confirmed.
  • I get period poops first whole month of pregnancy this time and last time. I get constipated when I'm not pregnant lol I poop fantastically when I'm preg or bf. My MD said if the lunch meat doesn't smell it's ok to eat.
  • @ShadeofGreen816 Aw, so cute! He looks like my little bean.
  • @ShadeofGreen816 and @lrwardrop haha I took one this morning and bought more digitals at the store this morning...just in case  I also agree with you I think I keep testing because the only symptoms I have are some mild cramping every once in a while and still no AF.

  • My stupid question. Is anyone else forgetting that they are pregnant, or it not feeling real? I'm not having very noticeable symptoms now and have to remind myself that I am. Aside from taking prenatal vitamins and changing my diet a bit, nothing is different.
  • @ShadeofGreen816 Off topic, but I love that shower curtain!
  • @tumbleweed - it's the calm before the storm! you're just starting week 6? There might be some nausea coming your way soon! Or maybe you'll be lucky and not get much of that.

@ShadeofGreen816 - girl, you're pregnant! Take a deep breath and enjoy it :)

  • @IvyMagic828 I am just starting week six. I hope I don't get much morning sickness (or any, ideally).

@tumbleweed yes totally!! We had friends over all weekend and I was worried it would be hard to not tell them. But it was super easy because it doesn't feel real yet.
    @CherylE418 thanks! Target!
@IvyMagic828 oh I know! I'm honestly not anxious. Just more in disbelief. It so just doesn't seem like a real thing! I keep thinking maybe I dreamed it or read the rest wrong or something!

ETA: @starphish18 so cute!!! We will have to have an AW dog thread someday soon. I could share pics of my puppy any day!
  • Anyone else's leg(s) ache? Not cramps, but achy. Maybe RLS?
