Of course I received my blood test results on a Saturday so I can't call (well, I could but that's a bit nutty). I think this means a 1 in 10,000 risk for both, right? I'm having a hard time finding the normal ranges for the various results.
That's what my report said when I was told everything came back "low risk." Obviously I'm not qualified to interpret your results and the numbers are meaningless to me but I think you're right that the 1 in > 10,000 figure is the key and is a great thing to hear!
Thanks for the response. Getting the numbers without any context as to a normal range is a little frustrating, but the end result is a huge relief. I was concerned about the starting value due to AMA.
Right below the RSK figure, is the INT which I'd assume is the interpretation of the figure. So, they're saying that you're within normal range for both Down and Trisomy. I would check with your doctor but under normal circumstances, a negative result would not be published or sent to a patient prior to them speaking to a doctor.
From everything that I've read, a baby with Down Syndrome has both a high HCG (at least 2) and a low Papp A. Both a low HCG and low Papp A is usually indicative of Trisomy 13/18. The "normal" range is anything close to 1 as they use 1 as the median. Based off of your numbers you seem to be low risk, which is what the 1:10,000 is saying. Of course your doc will confirm this. If you had a positive result for anything they would've called you already about going to see a specialist for further testing.
