TTC After a Loss

Great Post on Medium about MC

Hope this his links to what I want it to! Ashley Williams is an actress, I know her best as Victoria from How I Met Your Mother. She had a miscarriage and wrote this because she doesn't understand why most of us don't talk about it openly.

I loved what she says. I'm curious how y'all feel about her post and about how you handle this in your life.

I've never posted on social media about our losses but all of our close friends and immediate family know and most of my, and all of my husband's coworkers know. I try not to hide it but sometimes I do wish I could be more outspoken about IF and Loss. I definitely struggle with the defective, broken, incomplete labels and I'm sure that plays a part in not being more public with my struggle.

  • @fivetimesnoluck I think it's great  that she wants to share her story. I had no idea that so many people have miscarriages until I had my first loss. So many friends and acquaintances that only talk about it when they know you have experienced it as well. My best friend has been such a huge support for me. She had three miscarriages (including one at 19 weeks) before she had two healthy children. My parents and brother know about all three losses. Four of my friends and my DH's boss also know, but that is all we have told. DH doesn't want to tell his parents. He can't wait to tell them we are having one, but won't until I can make it past the 1st trimester.

  • I was also surprised by how many people I knew who had previously had miscarriages and never talked about it until I was processing my own.  It is so obviously a stigmatized topic. @ladipale @NewMommyCoop

  • Yep, I'm crying lol Really good article and I've long wished it wasn't such a taboo subject <3
  • My fiancé was surprised that both his mother and his sister had miscarriages which they told him about after he informed them of our loss. It seems like such a secret thing that I just don't talk about it to people. Maybe we should and then women who go through this in the future won't feel the way we did.

  • So my situation is a little different then some (I was 18.5 weeks along with twins, looked probably 24 weeks) so there was no hiding the pregnancy and what happened. I also got my memorial tattoo on my wrist where it's easily visible so I will talk about our situation with anyone and everyone. Like most of you I have numerous friends who have experienced MCs and I had no idea but once I shared or they found out what happened they opened up to me.

DH and I have had so many people offer to pray for us and I've had a couple ladies thank me for encouraging them to tell their story. I think it's helped my healing and hopefully I can continue to help others

  • I love this article and have shared on Facebook. I don't talk about my losses much, simply because a lot of people don't understand and I don't need the pity. I am not a victim and I hate it when people treat me like one.

I am so blessed to have the love of my life, my DH, est. November 2008.
