Anybody else still just feeding purees? Is he getting enough to eat?

I feel like we're struggling in the food department and I know its my fault. My husband and I don't have good eating habits (i.e. inconsistency, poor nutrition etc) so at this point feeding LO what we eat is not really an option.

We give him little bits of our foods occasionally but not often  Is anyone else still just basically on purees?

Typical Day
6:30- 6 oz bottle
8:00- #2 puree (@daycare)
12:00 2 #2 purees(@daycare) and occasionally a 2-4 oz bottle
3/4- 6 oz bottle(@daycare although this week he's only been taking 1-2 ozs of this bottle?)
5:30- #3 puree
7:00- 6 oz bottle

He also gets little puffs and usually a rice rusk(we call them surfboards) plus water from a sippy cup everyday.

Last night I gave him an 8 oz bottle before bed to try to make up for the lack of oz during the day and he did ok so I think I will keep that up. He has plenty of wet and dirty diapers through the day but is kind of a runty guy other wise at his 9 month check he was just under 20 lbs and only in the 10th % for height.

I am having some serious guilt because the Big 1 is approaching soon and I feel like its expected for him to magically be a toddler and be eating and cutting out bottles but I just don't see that happening for us for a while...

  • They don't have to eat AT ALL until 1, so I wouldn't panick. That said, I would try to start eating better. He is going to learn his eating habits from you. You said you know they aren't great, so I have to believe you want better for him. Know better, do better. Get foods just for him even. We feed lots of fruit and veggies that I cook just for her. She ate three skinned zucchinis yesterday as part of her dinner while I had cheese less pizza. She eat a puree veggies fruits and puffs at each meal.
  • I also cook up a few extra veggies and foods to keep on hand for LO. He has digestive trouble and can't eat a lot of what we eat. When he can eat what we have, I put extra aside for him for the next day. Good for you for watching out for his nutrition! Don't worry about the expectations. As @LaurenBee24 said, it isn't a nutritional requirement yet.
