TTC After a Loss

Not TTC Related - Reality TV - guilty pleasure!

ok, so I just got caught up on my Teen Mom OG, and I have to admit that part of me had a little heart attack thinking that Tyler's mom could (again try to) negatively influence his relationship with Catelynn while she's seeking help for postpartum depression and anxiety.

Also, Farrah is awful.

If feeling this way is wrong, I don't wanna be right.

Have fun with this. What are the awful "reality" shows you watch? Which "characters" do you love? Or love to hate?!

I'm so tired of thinking about TTC right now.

Haha! Just tagged you in the Rants page too, @Aera11

    My indulgences are:
    Teen Mom OG
Southern Charm (for which they are now filming a  Savannah cast in addition to Charleston.)
    Escaping Polygamy
Intervention (not sure if it counts but I'm obsessed.)

Also watch Top Chef and Amazing Race, not sure if I should, but I don't count them in the same category.

ETA: I added emojis and then it ate my post. Re-wrote to match previous comment.

  • I'm a Kardashian addict. I can't get enough of them. DH and I went to visit his cousins who live in Calabasas before we were married and I made him drive around to some of their favorite spots, looking for them. My addiction has gotten better on recent years because I can't really stand Kylie and Kendall and I feel like ther are focusing so much more on them now that the others are getting (gasp) so old!
  • I love reality tv shows. I tell my husband I want my drama on tv and not in my life. I also enjoy watching the kardashians, teen mom og (I am watching for the new season to start on Hulu), ink master. I used to watch jerseylious when it was on.  Hulu has the hot wife's of Las Vegas a parody of reality tv and it cracks me up
  • I am such a reality TV junkie.
All of the Teen Mom shows
    Catfish
    Counting on
    Escaping Polygamy
DWTS (does that count as "junk" though? Hah)
    The Incredible Dr Pol
Toddlers and Tiaras (helps me channel my rage towards ridiculous people)

  • Im a Real Housewives junkie love OC, BH and NY. Need to watch Southern Charm but its not on hulu or demand. Used to watch the Kardashians but now I just watch an episode here or there.

@chloe97 - did you go to Dash??
  • I don't think that Dash exists anymore. They moved it to West Hollywood.
  • omg I love me some bad reality tv. My current go to are married at first sight and arranged. I don't always catch them on tv but I discovered you can watch them anytime on the FYI website sooo that's been happening. I also watch Kardashians from time to time but it's getting old and ridiculous and I can't stand kylie. @Hopefulmommy1980 i used to watch jerseylicious too! I also was obsessed with Jersey Shore back in the day.

  • @tscalei I watch those Housewives franchises, too! BH, NY, OC, and Melbourne. Southern Charm and Below Deck are on my DVR list, too. Sooo pretty much all Bravo shows. But I do watch the Kardashians (only on DVR so I can go through commercials) and I just started the trainwreck that is Rob & Chyna. And Hollywood Medium if that counts. It always makes me cry no matter who the "celebrity" is.
  • I used to watch all of the Houswives and the Kardashians until we cut the cable cord. Now I'm down to what is on Netflix and Hulu. Lately it has been Naked & Afraid, Catfish, America's Ninja Warrior and any dancing show.
  • @chloe97 I went to that Dash in Calabasass years ago and it was nothing special and in a weird strip mall.  But I'm addicted to KUWTK too and Kylie bugs me. I saw a picture of her the other day and I thought it was Kim!

@fivetimesnoluck I love southern charm! Do you live down south? DH is from Savannah so we frequent that area, charleston & Hilton head often.
  • I am so happy I am not alone in these ridiculous programs!

@Aera11 Yes, ma'am! I am from NW Georgia originally, but have lived in Savannah for the past 15 years. I love it (warts and all!) and can't imagine living anywhere else. I recall from earlier this summer that you all made a trip to HHI and Savannah, but didn't know your DH is from here.

Southern Charm is awesome and they just started filming the first Savannah season. I don't know any of the cast, but have friends who grew up here who do, so depending on his age, your DH may be familiar with some of the faces that end up on the screen.

So, y'all have me curious. I have never kept up with the Kardashians, but why doesn't anyone like the younger girls? How old are they anyway? They look like they're 30, so I have no idea of their real age. I am simultaneously outraged and fascinated by our celebrity culture and getting famous for being famous. It's like a wild social experiment.

  • @fivetimesnoluck he just turned 32, but it seems like there is an age range...at least on the Charleston one.  I love visiting down there!  And you're right, we were there early June b/c he was in a wedding.  His parents live in Michigan like us, but his extended family is all HHI/Savannah/Charleston/Atlanta.

I actually don't really like any of them, I am just fascinated with them.  Kris Jenner is crazy but smart, she knew how to turn their lives into a career.  As far as the little ones go, Kendal is ok by me...at least she 'works' as a model.  It's kind of like the Duggars, don't really like them, but same thing...intrigued because their lives are sooo different from mine.
  • @fivetimesnoluck OMG the younger girls are just so entitled and spoiled it drives me crazy. I loved them when they were awkward pre-teens, but now that they are grown up they just are so superficial it's gross. I know the older girls are too, but for some reason the fact they grew up normally (minus OJ Simpson connections) make them more relatable to me.
  • @fivetimesnoluck i enjoyed the earlier seasons of the kardashians much more because they seemed more 'real' if I can even say that. I mean they were always rich and a little famous but they were much more relatable before everyone got plastic surgery and a bazillion dollars. everything on the show now seems staged and fake whereas in the beginning they seemed like a hilarious and crazy family. Kylie is probably like 19 now? she really rubs me the wrong way and is so fake. kendall is probably about 21 or 22 and at least works as a model, she doesn't bother me as much as kylie.

  • @hopefulmommy1980 - I love the hot wives of Vegas - really shows how ridiculous these shows/women are and is just hilarious. I also like my drama on tv - sometimes it makes me feel better about my life. Its like at least I'm not dealing with that!? Lol

Also need to start watching southern charm...I hope hulu picks it up soon!
  • @brooklyngirl18 @chloe97 @Aera11 Thanks for the insight. I am intrigued by the family, that's for sure. I can only imagine how the younger girls were affected by the way they grew up and the older girls actually had a bit more of a normal (if you can call it that!) childhood.

@Aera11 If DH is 32, he may well know some of the folks on the upcoming show. That's the age of a couple that I have heard about participating. They seem to be mainly in their early or mid thirties.

@TScalei I adore Southern Charm. I watched the first season, skipped the second and then got pulled back in to the last one. Hope you can check it out soon!

  • Some of these sound ridiculous! Escaping polygamy!?!?!?

H watches " Chrisley Knows Best" and it's like watching a train wreck. You can't look away. I feel dumber after every single episode he puts in but we still end up talking about it

FFFC- I can't STAND anything related to the kardashians. I feel like they represent everything horrible in our media system. I refuse to watch or even read a single article about them

  • No flame coming from me @DungeonTrollMel. I'm so embarrassed that I like that stupid show. Those people are terrible!
  • I'm with you on the Kardashians, @DungeonTrollMel. I won't click on anything with them either.

However, I will defend the Escaping Polygamy show because it's probably the real-est reality show I watch. :) It's about one particular group, the Kingston Clan, also known as The Order. The show follows three sisters that left years ago but now help others who want to leave. I can't believe how much of a cult this group is and how they get away with it. It's crazy.
