I really, really need to get more protein into my diet, but most meat makes me feel ill, and I can only eat so much cheese. I also can't seem to tolerate dairy in the form of milk or yogurt, so that's out as well. I figured a protein shake would be a good way to go. I have a few different protein bars, but I'd like to add a shake in as well.
Any suggestions? If you're using one you like, please tell me about it!

I usually make smoothies and add protein powder. I find this is also a great way to get extra greens/vegetable and other nutrients in, depending on what I might be lacking that week.
I alternate between hemp protein powder and a plant based protein powder. My go-to brand is Nutiva, but there are other similar options out there. I generally look for powders that don't have extra additives like sugar, artificial flavors, etc. I also go with the "plain" flavors since I feel like this leaves more flexibility when added to smoothies.
My favorite smoothie lately has been a mint chip concoction. The main ingredients are almond milk, banana, fresh mint, protein powder, vanilla extract, dates, and some cacao nibs roughly blended in at the end. I usually add spinach if I have it on hand and sometimes coconut oil or some avocado. And then you can get creative with superfoods, like chia seeds, spirulina (gives it a fun minty color), etc.
If I'm really craving chocolate I'll make roughly the same thing, just with no mint and with unsweetened cocoa or cacao powder instead of nibs. Cinnamon is a good addition to this blend as well. Actually there's a good chance I'll be having this "chocolate shake" this afternoon
What is it about the meat that makes you feel ill? I can't really eat whole pieces. Like a chicken breast, or fish fillet, etc. Although if I cut it up in a casserole, or shred it and make burritos I can eat it that way. Basically 'masking' it with other foods. Plus eggs, I have been eating a lot of eggs.
Also you can look up vegetarian "diets"(not as in weight loss. But daily meals), there are a lot of fruits, veggies, and seeds that actually have a ton of protein.
Before I was pregnant I probably only ate meat or fish 3-4 times a week. I don't eat chicken or turkey and never wanted to eat lots of red meat, so I was kind of limited in that respect.
So now in addition to smoothies, I also eat lots of eggs, as well as vegetarian sources of protein, like beans, chickpeas, lentils, almonds. Some of those weren't so appealing over the hot summer, but make great soup additions or bases.
I like the mocha one, vanilla chai and just the plain vanilla. They have tons of options and great snack options as well that are high in protein.
It is on par with most good quality protein powders price wise. https://myvega.com/
