I'm a couple hours south of Seattle. I love it. My town is quiet, and friendly. Like @LittleChick2 said, it's a short drive to the mountains, camping, hiking and lakes, but semi close to a big city. I don't mind the rain, and our summers are perfect. I never thought about how far from the rest of the world we are though, @NESeattlite that is a bummer! But it doesn't stop me from traveling!
We live in Maryland, about 30 minutes from DC. I don't love how expensive everything is but Maryland is home. Love having all four seasons and being relatively close to DC, the beach, ski resorts, wineries, museums, etc. Go O's!
SW Idaho, love it here! I grew up in NW WA in a border town and it was a great place to grow up but I have no desire to live there again. I enjoy visiting though!
Northern Colorado! We love living so close to the mountains and having so many awesome things to do outdoors, and having so many great restaurants/breweries around. Also, the weather here is pretty awesome compared to the Northeast (where we grew up).
I live in a small university town in downstate Illinois. I love that it's really "micro urban". It has a great downtown with really excellent food, including several types of Asian and fusion foods (not like "Bob's Authentic Chinese, Sushi, and Mongolian" that you find in all small midwestern towns) as well as museums and performances from world-renowned artists.
I grew up in SoCal and Latin America so I don't like 4 seasons.
@RachelGreene and @pinkshades05 we're moving to San Diego this winter. My sister works in Carlsbad and we want to be closer to my family.
I live in Austin, TX. And I LOVE everything about living here (ok maybe not the 100 degree summers). I'm originally from the Boston suburbs but I moved here for school (Hook Em!) And while I also love Boston I can't imagine going back to the cold and snow.
@pinkshades05 HA! I wish. She is a software engineer at a large company so she can afford to live there. I'm looking inland at Vista or San Marcos. Maybe San Diego proper. HR salaries are not software engineer salaries and the price of living out there is really high.
Northern New Jersey here! I absolutely love the change in seasons. Jersey gets a bad wrap but it is a really beautiful state! We have mountains, beaches, farmland, and NYC is just across the river. Downside is that our property taxes are horrendous... Oh, and people think that everyone is just like the characters from the Real Housewives of NJ or Jersey Shore.
@stm2017 I totally agree!! Despite the fact my husband hates winter I love all the activities and outdoorsy winter things and can't wait to do them with DD and this baby...Especially when as nice and mild as last winter!
@ArchyFlores We live in North County near Poway. We can't afford Carlsbad, either, but it's too crowded for us, anyways. We've considered moving to San Marcos but the 78 Fwy is a nightmare 95% of the time. We'll see what happens next year when we start looking to buy!
Another here in Austin, TX. We love it here. Summers are no fun, but the rest of the year is pretty great, and there is always lots to do outdoors. I think the people are the best part, though
Columbus, OH! I love that we experience all 4 seasons here (especially autumn- football season!). Columbus in particular has a great cost of living, and there is always a festival or something fun to do! Any other Ohio mommas?
I love KC @elgie my whole DH family is from here. He (and I now) is a huge Chiefs and Royals fan. We were able to make it out there a couple seasons ago for the one one game that they played against the Hawks! Such a cool city
Montana! We're only a few hours from both Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks. There's only about a million people in this 4th largest state and it's an outdoor lover's paradise.
I've lived in 11 states and several countries (though to be fair, a couple of those were war zones)...this is my favorite place to live so far.
I'm originally from southern IL but now live in central IL. I love it because we are within a few hours of our family. I don't like the summers and the humidity that comes with them here.
I live in Idaho! Believe it or not, it's more than just a potato farm. I love that we have the four seasons. It's quiet with plenty to do. I have traveled quite a bit but there's really no place like it!
I live in New Zealand on the west coast of the North Island. We recently moved to a much smaller city for the quality of life. We're now a two minute walk away from an incredible nature walk and swimming hole, not far from a gorgeous mountain and there's lots of outside stuff to do. I'm missing the foodie / cafe culture of my last city though.

Wait, we aren't all real housewives characters? Kidding, of course. I can't even watch either show.
I'm also from northern NJ. I love it, but I'm ready to live somewhere else. DH works in the harbor, so the likelihood of that happening is like zero.
I live in a suburb of Houston. Although TX is not my main choice, I can make a great life here. I like being so close to the city and all the things I like to do in it, but I really like our little town too. It's a small town feel with big town amenities.
I live in the South Shore of Massachusetts. I commute to Boston for work. I was born and raised here. I don't think I ever want to leave!
Edit: Oops I forgot favorite part of living here. I think it's a combination of a lot of things. My immediate family is here, except my twin, I love the seasons, and the culture is just something I would be empty without.
Currently living a bit outside Atlanta, and to be honest, I strongly dislike it here. I just can't deal with the heat. We've been here for about six years now, but we're planning on moving soon to Maine, which is where I grew up, and I cannot wait. Winters will suck, but the rest of the year makes up for it, and I am looking forward to being close to a bunch of family and friends again.
@Blueberry85 my grandfather grew up in bucksport Maine and we visited every other summer growing up. I haven't been in about 7 years but I love it so much there and would move there in a heartbeat if I could ever get DH on board!
@justdoit93 Maine really is a special place, and I only truly appreciated how great it was to grow up there about 10 or so years ago. I'm so happy I'll be able to raise my children there. It's also funny/telling how many of my friends are moving back as they start their families!
I'm in Baltimore and though the news makes it seem like a terrible place, it's actually a wonderful city with great food and lots of great neighborhoods.
@samdags My family is in Scituate and I miss it so so so much. South shore is the absolute best place in the world.
Representing Cincinnati!!!! Born and raised. I live about 10 mins from downtown and just a few extra minutes more to Kentucky. I love it here and live about 5 minutes from the house I grew up in that my Mom still lives in. DD will go to the same school I did. I like having 4 seasons, though I kinda hate winter sometime. I always said I'd live here forever but then I met my husband and he's from Georgia. There's a good chance we'll move down south someday. Maybe.
Another Jersey girl here, but very south. We live just outside of Philadelphia and have been here for almost 9 years (the longest by far that I've lived anywhere since I'm a military brat). We have a terrific township with lots of festivals and free events and beautiful parks and it's great that we experience all 4 seasons. Being less than an hour from the shore and also having easy access to several major cities is so nice, too. My family are all out of state tho and I wish we lived closer and my DH works in PA and the commute can stink so I think we will be moving soon.
Re: GTKY: Where do you live?

@scorpiomer no way! We are York county too!!!!
We live south of Kansas City....can I be obvious and say I love living here because of the BBQ?
Also, who doesn't want to live in the city of the reigning World Series Champs #ForeverRoyal
