How did your appointment go overall? Great! Met the only OB in the practice I had not met yet and she was very nice.

Any ultrasound or doppler? Doppler - 149 BPM today and some hiccups!

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Yes. She felt my stomach for his position and his head is low. No cervical checks until 38 weeks unless symptoms hint at needing to otherwise.

I'll agree with the alcohol! Eating cold subs again because I haven't been that rebellious!

How did your appointment go overall?
    Good :)

    Any ultrasound or doppler?
    Doppler Kinzleys HB was 150

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had?
Yes, She is starting me on a BRAT diet/electrolyte drink supplement. I've had diarrhea for the last week or so and I didn't really think anything of it but at my weigh in today I've lost 4lbs and have nitrates in my urine so she thinks it's most likely an UTI (although, I don't feel like I have one) and recommended the diet but were still waiting on labs. she said the cramping I've been feeling is most likely contractions and we will start cervix checks next appointment.

For Fun: Other than snuggling that newborn...what are you looking forward to most about NOT being pregnant?!
    No limitations on food.

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had?

How did your appointment go overall?
Quickly. Had a growth scan because at last check baby girl was 17th percentile and I've elevated PAPP-A from my 2nd trimester bloodwork which can indicate growth restriction, so they are monitoring progress.

    Any ultrasound or doppler?
    Just ultrasound

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had?
I feel like everytime I feel relieved, something new comes up. For example, today they tell me baby is measuring 24th percentile. Yay. She's progressing, right?
oh wait. Her femur measurements are still behind. Stop stressing me out. Or at least tell me outright why you're concerned so I can stop the google torture. There's no magical pill I can take to make her legs grow faster!

    ive started to

How did your appointment go overall? It was okayish. Midwife wasn't sure baby was actually head down so I have an ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow to be sure. Plus my iron is STILL low. I've been eating iron rich foods but apparently that is not enough and I need to start taking a supplement. Boo!

Any ultrasound or doppler? Doppler, HB between 133-140

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? I didn't have any really. I'm sure I'll have tons after tomorrow's appointment. Depending on how it goes, anyway.

For Fun: Other than snuggling that newborn...what are you looking forward to most about NOT being pregnant?!

BREATHING PROPERLY. I have to sleep super propped up because I cannot breath in any laying down position. Sleeping on my belly! Drinking wine! Not being in pain constantly! And fitting into my clothes again. Very few things are fitting around the bump these days.

  • @ashleymn I used to get UTIs every couple months pre pregnancy, and when I told them that at my first OB appointment, they told me that they can be VERY different during pregnancy and women get them a lot without knowing.
  • How far along are you? 36 weeks

How did your appointment go overall? It was ok.  I'm still measuring small, about 4cm behind now.  I'm packing on the pounds like crazy and my belly feels out of control, so I don't know where it's all going!  My OB ordered a growth scan that we're doing on Friday.  I had one at 32 weeks (also for measuring behind) and baby was right on track, so I'm trying not to let my anxious self win out here ... I know that most likely everything is still normal and it's just because I'm a small person.

Any ultrasound or doppler? Doppler, heartbeat was normal.  U/S scheduled for Friday, I may be a little worried but at least I get to see him again!

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? I was curious about if I go past my due date, when she would want to induce.  She said 2 weeks is the absolute max.  I don't want to be induced but 2 weeks is way too long for me!  I think 1 week is probably my limit.

For Fun: Other than snuggling that newborn...what are you looking forward to most about NOT being pregnant?!
The past few weeks, I've been looking forward to more and more things ... obviously drinking wine, eating sushi/cold lunch meat/medium rare steak/etc, sleeping on my belly and back, being able to do yoga and exercise without modifications, having more clothing options, no back pain, not getting up to pee 8,000x a night...

  • @ashleyp625 I haven;t heard back about my culture yet, I've never had a UTI before but I know the basic symptoms, do they treat it the same way in pregnancy? I've been downing cranberry juice just in case but seriously, I wish ghost UTI's didn't exists. lol

  • I had it yesterday, so I was 31+5

Appointment went fine. I was supposed to see one MW but a different one (from the practice) was there, randomly. NBD though. For an hour before the appt I'd been having really bad wave-like pains at the top of my ute so I was really glad I was going in anyways.

    Doppler. Everything sounded good

MW said I was really low risk for preterm labor, which was good to know. She also said that the pain I was feeling would probably go away with water, rest and cramp bark tincture and sure enough, it did.

I'm looking forward to not hurting all the time.

  • @ashleymn yep. They just gave me an antibiotic then tested at my next appt to make sure it was all gone.

How did your appointment go overall? Went well. Short and sweet!

Any ultrasound or doppler? Doppler.. 148

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? I'll get one more ultrasound in 3 weeks to help determine weight

How did your appointment go overall? Fine. She did my group b strep swap (uhm, dry qtip? Oww.) And a cervical check.  Oddly enough the cervical check was less uncomfortable, even though my cervix is high and apparently her fingers are short. Everything's still closed.

Any ultrasound or doppler? Doppler, HR was over 150.

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? I didn't really have any questions, but she did clarify at what point to to call the office and go to the hospital. I am supposed to wait until contractions are 3-5 minutes apart for 2 hours at a pain level of 8/10.

How did your appointment go overall?
Appointment was on Tuesday 9/6 and that's when I was told baby was breech. :(  If he doesn't turn, we go in for a scheduled C on 10/6 a Thursday.  While part of me is disappointed with this breech news, a part of me is like "yay!  at least we HAVE a date if I don't go into labor on my own before then".  Also if i go in for a scheduled C, I can get my tubal ligation done at the same time.  It was a good visit overall.

Any ultrasound or doppler? ultrasound to determine positioning.

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had?
DH had way more questions than me.  Doctor answered them all. :)

+1 on the wine and +1 on being able to fit into old clothes.  This morning I tried to wear this non-maternity blouse I used to wear on my "fat" days.  OH man, I was laughing out loud when I tried it on.  Hard to imagine I'll fit into that again one day.

Baby is head down in position to deliver so fx he stays that way. He was surprised I didn't have any swelling given the heat.  Must be lucky

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Asked about the stomach aches I've been getting, he suggested Gas X and I was able to get my script for my free breast pump!

  • How far along are you? Appointment was yesterday, so 33+4

How did your appointment go overall?  Okay, I guess. I had two appointments, one with the MFM and one with the regular OB. MFM went fine, but the doctor took forever to come in and finish everything up. They said that since everything looks good I can come back in 3 weeks instead of 2! Regular OB also took forever, because they finally got the paperwork from my last MFM 2 weeks ago and that doc suggested weekly monitoring from now on. So I got hooked up to do a NST and then did another US. Ugh. Was at the hospital from 9:45 to 4:00.

Any ultrasound or doppler? Two US. Baby was OF COURSE not in a good position, so I had a lot of shaking and poking and turning on my side to get him to move. So by the time I got home my stomach was not happy with me.

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had?  I mentioned my horribly swollen feet, and since my BP is good the doc basically said there's nothing for it... just prop my feet up when I can.

For Fun: Other than snuggling that newborn...what are you looking forward to most about NOT being pregnant?!
No more swollen feet!!!!!! And having more than 5 fitting outfits in my closet to wear!

How did your appointment go overall? I have had a few appointments this week's all have gone well for the most part.

Any ultrasound or doppler? I had both baby bear is doing good in the 6lb area and 95%. Giant baby bear is what we're having.

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? my Dr is awesome he always answers my questions he did say I will have my baby before I hit 39 weeks he is going to start induction process at 38+4 or 38+5

For Fun: Other than snuggling that newborn...what are you looking forward to most about NOT being pregnant?!
well I'd really love to be able to breath again and the pains I get in hips knees and hands I can't wait for that to go away.
  • How far along are you? 36 weeks

How did your appointment go overall? It went pretty good. We determined that the baby is head down. The doctor (and the med student) checked my cervix and holy cow, that hurt. They said the front is dilated at 1 cm but the back is not so technically I'm not dilated yet.

Any ultrasound or doppler? They did an ultrasound to verify that the baby was head down. It also confirmed that she is on my left side which she favors.

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? My main question was the baby's positioning and if I had dilated yet, which were both answered.

My appt was Wednesday and I was 36+3.

How did your appointment go overall?
Went well! I gained 1lb in a week, BP was great, and baby's heartbeat was nice and strong.

    Any ultrasound or doppler?
Doppler and my doc fired up the us machine for me to show me that baby is head down :)

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had?
Yes, I was afraid she wasn't head down and he was kind enough to do a quick us to show that yes, she is head down! :)

How did your appointment go overall? Very well! Confirmed baby is head down, she's measuring in the 47th percentile for weight, and she's still looking healthy. My weight has also stabilized a bit which makes me feel better.

Any ultrasound or doppler? Ultrasound but we couldn't get any good pictures. This kid has had her hands or feet over her face every time!

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had?  Yes, had some questions about vaccinations for my husband & parents and she answered them all.

How did your appointment go overall?
The end result is that things are ok, but it was an awful appointment.

    Any ultrasound or doppler?
U/S for growth... I've been measuring small for awhile, had an u/s at 31 weeks and baby was measuring in 42nd percentile.  This appointment he was in the 17th percentile which was very concerning to me when the tech told me.  She also couldn't get him to flex his hand (I think he was just sleepy) so she was banging on my belly for a while.  This tech had awful bedside manner.  The whole thing made us super nervous.  Then the on call doctor (my OB was in another office that day) had us do a NST... no explanation for it.  The nurse said that I passed, but the doctor later said there were some "variables" (again, no explanation), and she had me go to L&D for extended monitoring.  She also told me that both last ultrasound and this, baby's femur was measuring in the 2nd percentile.  That sounded super extreme and scary to me, and I hadn't been told that before.  The on call OB had terrible bedside manner as well and she was just really hard to read and not at all reassuring.  She told me I shouldn't eat or drink anything on the way just in case and couldn't tell me how long the monitoring would be!  She also said I'd need to start doing kick counts and get weekly u/s.  Fortunately the L&D nurses were super nice and just a few minutes into my monitoring they said everything looks great, this is going to be super boring.

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had?
My OB came by after several hours of testing.  She told me baby looked great from the monitoring.  She said she was not worried about the change in growth because he's still in the normal range.  She wasn't concerned about the femur length and said it's probably just because I'm short.  They estimated his weight at 5lb 8oz, which puts him in the 7lb range at full-term.  She said she's going to check with the high risk OB on Monday just to be sure, but doesn't think I need weekly u/s or further testing.  The nurses said that sometimes during the testing, baby will roll onto the cord and then move off of it, which might have caused those "variables."

Sorry for the novel here, but the whole experience was stressful and frustrating!  Now I'm just worried about something being wrong when I don't think anything ever was.  I'm so glad we have all of this technology when it's needed, but I think in this case it was just finding problems where there weren't any.  It has definitely resolved me to attempting as low-intervention of a birth as possible.

Answered this already in my previous post, but it's changed to... just getting to meet my baby and knowing he is safe and healthy!!

  • How far along are you? I was 32w5d yesterday at my appointment.

How did your appointment go overall? Good. The doctor was only supposed to use the doppler, but couldn't find the heartbeat, which was scary for a second. So she did an ultrasound and confirmed a strong heartbeat. It was great seeing Peanut, if only for 15 seconds.

    Any ultrasound or doppler? Both!!

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Yes, I have been having a lot of pelvic pressure, which she confirmed is normal and nothing to worry about. I also have allergies and broke out with hives, and am not sure what I can put on it during pregnancy other than 1% cortisone cream. The cortisone cream hasn't really helped. She recommended Benadryl cream instead, and wow, that has immensely helped!!

For Fun: Other than snuggling that newborn...what are you looking forward to most about NOT being pregnant?!
The swelling has been so so so bad, I'm looking forward to that going away after labor. Also, hopefully being able to sleep laying down again. I currently have to sleep propped up because of the heartburn.

  • @Blonde1817 I am in the same boat. Baby was measuring 17th percentile 3 weeks ago and I was feeling on cloud 9 that she bumped up to 24th...until the radiologist said "oh but her femurs are still short (3rd percentile)". Thanks for your reassuring bedside manner.
My OB said it was fine, but obviously they are continuing growth monitoring, so it makes me nervous. Me and DH are also very short, so hopefully our LOs are just following in our small footsteps.

  • @chriscasey33  Good to know I'm not alone!  It sounds like baby's femur measurements are kind of bringing down his overall measurements.  The thing that scared me most was that he went from 42nd to 17th percentile, to me that sounded like his growth was really slowing or stopping, but I guess it's ok as long as he continues to grow and doesn't totally stop.  I guess what they really look for in the u/s is problems with the amniotic fluid or placenta.  This was a rare occasion where I actually found google helpful because there are lots of stories out there of similar situations where baby turned out perfectly healthy and normal!

Any ultrasound or doppler? It was my first of bi-weekly NSTs because of elevated BP. Baby's HB was steady, but she, as usual, was non compliant and slept through the whole appointment. We managed to get three movements to measure an increase in HR.
