5 follicles and reduced dose of trigger shot

Hi all!  I haven't posted in a VERY long time, but have a question:

I have PCOS and am doing clomid + trigger.  I had my follicle scan today and I have 2 mature (18 and 19) and 3 others (15, 15, 16).  They decided to trigger with a quarter amount of the trigger (2500 iu, instead of 10000 iu.  Any idea why?  I didn't fully understand the explaination.  We had sex 2 days ago, but will not be having intercourse again because the risk of high order multiples is too high.

Would love to hear experiences with reduced dose trigger.

Re: 5 follicles and reduced dose of trigger shot

  • @stephL3 for my 2nd IUI, they had me trigger a reduced dose of ovidrel for the same reason.  The way my nurse explained it, was that in reducing the dose, their hope was that only the most mature follicles would release and therefore reducing the chances of "super multiples."  Good luck to you!!
