Welcome to the sugar club

edited September 2016 in November 2016 Moms
Today I learned that I failed the 2hour test. All my favorite and go-to foods are a no-no now. So sad... And oh the nurse said I'd have a fat baby - I prefer the term "chubby". So I want to do a little survey - whom amongst STM's had gestational diabetes and still managed to deliver vaginally?

I had a beautiful, induction-free birth and delivered by 5 lb 11 oz little nugget at 39 weeks.

Just because you have GD doesn't meant anything. Keep your sugars in check and find whatever balance you are comfortable with in regards to a "natural" and "high risk" pregnancy. I'm really sorry you are having to deal with it!

i wrote some about this from last time on my blog and I think it's linked in my signature. There should be a "Gestational Diabetes" section and also my birth story if you are interested.

  • @MrsBigTime good for you! Hoping I don't end up with a very heavy baby that would complicate delivery. maybe he won't end up 'fat' as the nurse said
  • I have it too.  But I've been managing it okay so far. It sucks. I miss my ice cream and coke :(
  • @jenesiso me too and I love ice cream! Try an ice cream called Halo, we only have it at whole foods in WI. Low carb/sugar and so yummy!
@Knottie1458416769 I freaked out at first but when they have checked at my ultra sounds he is staying at 60% and not growing too fast/too slow. That's annoying that nurse said that, and I'm not a nurse but I feel like as long as your sugars are not out of control (and if they are they will have you take insulin) you're just fine and so is that beautiful chubby baby! When I was talking to my dietitian about it she said more commonly than not the mother is able to give birth vaginally  still without a problem. Thinking of you!
