@pizzaandwine Again, not what you want to hear, but I think three siblings with the same birthday would be super cool! As a July baby, I hated having my birthday during the summer, as I always missed out on the cupcakes/crown/etc during the school day. But as a teacher, it meant I never had to work on my birthday! For this one, I am torn about if I want her to come early/late for a school birthday, but as she's due 9/7 and has been stubborn all pregnancy, I think it will be her decision, haha.
This is a first!? I somehow managed to sleep through both my alarm clock and my fiancé's this morning. It did get me a coffee in bed though from my fiancé which is nice.
About sharing birthdays, no one in my family shares birthdays but we have a lot within a short time frame. Within a 4 week span there is: my brother, nephew, dad, MIL, me, FI, FIL, and SIL. Needless to say, I am glad this LO is not caught in that timing!
There is a women I work with who's bday is on my EDD (9/23) and every time someone else in the office asks me my due date she always has to chime in saying 'yep, that's my bday too...we're gonna share bdays!' At this point I'd rather go a week late than share had DD share a bday with her.
Also, there happens to be a lot of my family members who were born on the 23rd, but in different months. I had an aunt corner me at one point saying I had to tell my Dr. to induce me on the 23rd so I could keep the steak going. I tried to laugh it off, but she was actually serious and wouldn't let it go until I straight up told her that I won't let the Dr. induce me unless medically necessary. People are so dumb.
Good morning all!! Today is my last day of work.. so tying up loose ends, and leaving early to make a Sams Club trip to stock up on frozen foods and paper goods before baby comes!
Naturally I stopped at Dunkin on the way in to get my lovely coworkers some munchkins (and a bagel for me.. and a frozen dunkaccino... and only 45 of the 50 munchkins survived the commute)! HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!
I'm 39+3 with only 1cm on outside of cervix, not even all the way through. This baby is super content in there and no plans of eviction. Tomorrow, I start walking the neighborhood at the crack of dawn... I'll either walk this baby out or have some damn good looking legs when I go in for an induction in a couple of weeks!!
Natural M/C 03.26.2012 at 10w2d Charlotte born at 28w3d due to severe IUGR on 12.24.2012 Merry Christmas! Missed M/C discovered 12.22.2014 at 8w1d measuring 6w3d 2015 was a year to test strength of both body and character, but it led us to this... BFP 01.26.2016 EDD 9.30.2016
My boss just asked "Are you excited that this is your last day?" Internally this happened: Some how I mustered up a small smile and said "I feel like my training has gone really well, just using today to get a lot of documents and FAQs onto the shared drive for the other states to reference"
@UnwritteN12 The blood in Layla's spit up sent me into a panic as well. I had it happen with McKenna, but it was a small amount and I very obviously had bleeding nipples. When Layla did it, she spit up what must have been the entire contents of her stomach. It was all over the pillow, me, and her sleeper and there was a lot of blood in it. Hearing she was fine, and it was from me was such a relief!
Glad to hear you had a good day yesterday and were able to show the babies off! I hope things are going well with your DH back at work. (I'm still not caught up on Aug randoms and haven't seen if you've updated).
I need to deliver thank you notes to my coworkers for my shower, but I don't want to do it if they're in their offices because I'm awkward and will end up either talking about my bowel movements or how if felt like Claire had the hiccups in my ass hole this morning, for an hour at each stop. I'm hoping they're all off today since it's just a half day and a long weekend for Labor Day. Wish me luck!
@LakeR2014@Pizzaandwine - my sibs and I all have our birthdays 5 days apart in June the 15th, 20th, and 25th - in order of birth, from oldest to youngest. It was kind of "meh, whatever" when we were growing up, but it's a lot more fun now that we all celebrate birthdays through the month of June!
Regarding people commenting on the date of birth: MIL is really really bad about it. Like there are major blackout dates that this baby just CANNOT be born on. The 7th is a nope because it's SIL's birthday, and she already shares with baby cousin Jack, so she would be devastated if she had to share with another baby (note, SIL is 29, and I promise she really gives 0 fucks about sharing her birthday with the baby). The 18th is a nope because that is Aunt Julie's birthday and apparently Aunt Jules is too annoying (she is annoying, but it's also whatever, it's not like baby will magically be like Jules...). Can't be born on the 22nd because that is her co-worker's birthday and she doesn't like that particular co-worker. I need to try extra hard to give birth on the 15th because that is her birthday... It's so ridiculous!!!!

All of them were out today except 2 that I am friends with, so my ass wasn't mentioned at all! Huzzah!!
We got the magical call that we got into my DH work's amazing daycare!!! So relieved! Only catch is we have to start paying for it now which is a bummer.
@mrsvoorhees I was secretly hoping you said the most embarrassing things. Damn. You ruined my day
So much this. I seriously wait until I see coworkers leave their desks and run to drop off thank yous. So much awkward. Also.. my running is not much faster than a normal person's walking.. and I sound like a herd of elephants, so I probably shouldn't do any of that.
@PoodleDoodleOoo How annoying.. if it were me I'd be crossing my legs all day on the 15th and not GAF any other day of the month. My little one having MIL's birthday.. oh god. Worst nightmare.
So... my co-workers pooled some money together and bought a TON of gifts for this little one. It wasn't so much as "sara gave us an outfit and Jon gave us a set of bibs" it was just a pile of gifts from everyone, all picked out by our office coordinator. Since I can't really thank people for specific items, I was thinking of bringing baby by the office sometime in October with breakfast bagels, donuts and coffee as a thank you instead of writing out notes... thoughts?!
And for DH's work shower, everyone showed up and brought individual gifts, but being the goofs that they are, they didn't record who gave what (or if they gave anything at all) so I was thinking of doing the same thing...
Like many others, it's really for real my last day in the office. I figure by Tuesday I'll be 39 weeks and I can "work from home" although in my experience attempting that the last few days results in mostly sleeping. I'm tired. I can't. I just can't.
@KimmySchmidt I think my mom just wants to know what day the baby is
coming and it didn't even occur to her that there was any significance
to the date. I get it mom, no one wants to know the date the baby is
coming more than I do. But I don't know. Staaahp.
@MrsVoorhees I really wanted to get my thank yous done before I left and I just was not able to do it... which is also awkward. Thank you notes are coming, awesome work people! It does avoid awkward conversations I am too tired to have (or talking about my b-hole in public, I suppose).
@PoodleDoodleOoo I think that should be fine. My coworkers last year pooled together for a gift card at our end-of-term potluck, and I just said thank you in person. Plus, I would personally always take coffee and a bagel/doughnut over a card!
@PoodleDoodleOoo - That would be really nice. For me and my husband's showers I've done a thank you card for the entire group, just 1 card. We both work in places where, here - everyone is in one big room and we have a community table when you walk in so I just left it here, and at his room on the table in the break room.
Edited to Add: Also sent our a room email with a huge Thank you for the shower, gifts, etc.
@PoodleDoodleOoo Totally stealing that idea! Even after the disaster of a gift giving experience that I had at work last week. Definitely not writing out a card to everyone in the office -- coffee/bagels will be perfect!
@SLou24 - You're a good person.. I'm way too vengeful to want to share breakfast and my baby with your coworkers. Maybe you can make sure they're in a long meeting before you go and that they have to wait for you to get there to be cleared.. then be super late.
@AnnaS930 Those are the things I dream of doing... maybe post baby I'll stop giving two sh*ts what people think and do exactly that!
Hahaha, I probably wouldn't have the balls to do it. The opposite would be even better to be super grateful and bring in breakfast and show them what real celebration and appreciation looks like!!
So funny story. Husband and I work together so mid-July, they threw us a baby shower. Complete with a "when will baby be born?" Pool. We scheduled our c section yesterday and coworkers started asking about the winner... Turns out my husband picked the sixth. So unless I go into spontaneous labor in the next 4 days, my husband is the winner!! Needless to say, people are less than pleased lol
@PoodleDoodleOoo How annoying.. if it were me I'd be crossing my legs all day on the 15th and not GAF any other day of the month. My little one having MIL's birthday.. oh god. Worst nightmare.
^^Absolutely this! And I agree that your plan sounds nice. I'd prefer that over a card for sure.
I have no coworkers. I have no gifts. Don't have to do thank yous. Hell. Yeah.
Had a great night last night! I've been feeling a little isolated since pretty much all of my friends are nurses and are super busy right now since the hospital we work at is extremely short staffed and over flowing with patients. But 5 of my coworkers organized a night out at my favourite taco place and surprised me at dinner time to pick me up and take me out!! Was totally what I needed, we caught up on gossip, a few of them got us some cute gifts for the baby and said that they had organized with the other staff from the floor I work on to throw us a post-baby baby shower! They're just the sweetest!! Totally perked me up and made me thankful that I work with such an amazing group of people.

Yes. Baked goods and a card addressed to the entire office!
Question-- rehearsal dinner tonight at parents of the grooms house, do we bring a host gift? If it was a normal dinner we def would so I'm thinking I should anyway but I'm not sure on the etiquette

We held our rehearsal dinner at my parent's house and I don't think anyone brought a hostess gift for them, though DH and I gave them a few extras. Technically, the dinner is a "thank you" for attending the rehearsal (or at least that is what they say on the Knot) so it'd be kind of be like bringing a thank you gift for a thank you gift...
@Megan324 I've never heard of bringing a gift to a rehearsal dinner. A regular dinner party - absolutely. But it would sort of be like bringing a gift to the bride's parents if they were hosting the wedding at their house... That said, no one would think it's rude!

I feel as though it's not necessary as Poodle explained.. they are thanking you, no need to thank back other than a verbal thank you and emphasis on how wonderful everything is
FINALLY got DS down for a nap. It took all of my energy to get him to go to sleep for the past hour and now my productiveness is shot. Having some chocolate to rejuvenate .... Still got shish to do!
@MrsVoorhees I told you that butt hiccups are a thing! And they are weird as hell. I never spoke of them outside of this board, though. I'm glad to hear you refrained from mentioning it to your coworkers.
@AnnaS930 You said you took Metformin postpartum with E, right? Did you ever notice it making his poop and farts smell? I feel like this is a weird question, and it isn't really important, but I'm curious. I didn't take Met with McKenna, and she had typically non-smelling breastfed poops. I am taking it this time, and Layla's farts and poops smell horrible! It's the only difference I can think of.
@PoodleDoodleOoo that's brilliant. I am totally doing that. I live right across the street from my office and I work with a ton of women who will love to see the baby. Thanks for the great idea!
