Stupid Parenting Questions

Re: Stupid Parenting Questions

  • @PCOSbaby I literally just called our new pediatricians office and all we have to do is let our nurses and Dr know we picked them and they will call the Dr to come to the hospital after our son is born to check on him,. We were able to schedule an appointment to meet with one of the Drs but I declined since it's a large practice and we won't be seeing the same dr all the time.

  • and now you reminded me to call around to pediatricians today. thank you!
  • I was told you can pick your Ped in the hospital if you want, but we're doing a prenatal appointment with ours tomorrow afternoon.

  • If you have a pediatrician picked I would call to make sure they're accepting new patients. If they have privileges at the hospital you're delivering at they will come see baby. Otherwise call after baby is born to schedule the first appointment.

  • Yep definitely call to see what their procedure is. Ours told us we don't have to do anything other than tell the hospital who we've picked once baby is born, but it sounds like other drs might have different procedures!

  • So if the baby is currently head down at 36 weeks 3 days, is it possible she could turn breech before delivery? Or do they usually stay head down that late in the game?

  • @emmaaa usually they stay in position, but there's no guarantee. A friend of mine had hers flip to breech around 36, but flip back down to vertex by 38. Hoping yours stays put!
  • @kmvisioli That's what I'm worried about! This little girl just needs to get comfortable. I don't want any EXTRA surprises at delivery (other than delivery itself consideringI'm a FTM lol)

  • @emmaaa - I've been wondering about that, as well. Mine has been head down at every appointment (and I'm pretty sure in between) since 22 weeks. I told someone that the other day and she said "don't be surprised if she flips at the last minute!" Umm, thanks for giving me one more thing to worry about. :|

  • My babe has been head down at all of my appts as well but I swear he is now transverse.  My next appt isn't until 9-21-16 so hopefully he will be in the right position then.

FWIW, my doula suggested doing some coloring or a puzzle on all fours or yoga pose "cat cow" for 10 min 3x a day to help get the baby in head down position.

  • @CopperBoom86 That's how I am. After my appointment Friday, I was so relieved she was head down. Then, I keep hearing people tell other women that even if their babies are breech, they can still turn so I'm like, OMG then mine could too.

  • I get nervous because every so often I feel like she's twisting and then I feel hiccups in a completely different spot then the day before, but then she's head down when I get my growth scans so who knows! I have one in 2 weeks and I just hope she stays head down.
  • The hiccups are always so reassuring! They're always super low, like parallel with my pubic bone, so when she gets them, I know she's still head down.

  • @Sprinkels28 I have been doing the "cat cow" poses since my US in August when the baby was head up.  Last week during my US they told me it was head down. Maybe the yoga poses  work or it was just luck.

  • It's totally possible for babies to flip up to, and even during, delivery. Although I think it's more common for breech babies to turn head down than already head down babies to flip breech. My girls have all flipped head down by 20-22 weeks and stayed there.

  • They tell.me head down but I feel and see hiccups up top... hmmm
  • My MW said babe was breech at my 31 week appt but not to worry about it yet. It's weird because I'm wondering if the MW is wrong because I feel hiccups way down low (towards my butt). Who knows?

  • @samkins and @TurtleMomma That's actually consistent with how my appointments go- Baby A is breech with head in my ribs, but they always find his heartbeat really low on the right, while B is vertex with a heartbeat high in my left ribs. I think it's just weird baby proportions.
  • My son was head down forever and never moved. This little girl had been transverse forever but in the last 3 days she's gone head down twice so I'm hoping that it will happen  again and stick.

  • I feel my head down baby's hiccups higher up, but I think they move her whole body.
  • My baby was transverse last week at 35 weeks when they checked, so I'll be getting on all fours and googling the "cat cow" pose stat!
  • violets face is so buried into my anterior placenta and pelvis that I can't even get a pic of her on an ultrasound. for WEEKS. hurtssss
  • @mrszoess Same. Baby girl has been head down since 20 weeks and she's so low that I haven't gotten a profile pic since the anatomy scan.

I am 31 weeks and babe was breech at 24 then head down at 27 and still head down when I bleed last week, today he was transverse but at the end of my ultrasound he was back to head down. I think at my point he can still move a lot!
  • I feel my head down baby's hiccups higher up, but I think they move her whole body.
  • Babies can flip around right until labour. Mine always stayed out after 32 though. In my case my first was head down, second was breech and my third is head down again too. I grow larger babies and I'm short so they can't move much after 32 weeks anyways, so it would just depend on the person for sure!
When this baby has the hiccups I feel the pulsing down low but his whole body jolts.

  • My baby is head down and has been since at least the 20-week anatomy scan. We couldn't get a pic of her face then because she was moving, or last week because she was so far down. I am measuring on track but I feel like I have way more room than most of you. Maybe it's because I'm tall, but this baby is NOT in my ribs. The highest I have felt her is about halfway between my belly button and ribs.

When we complained in the elevator another woman in it said she never got a good shot of her baby either. My husband is grumpy that the best pictures of our baby are from 9 weeks! The 12 week, 20 week, and 35 week pics were progressively worse.

  • @RainMira9e I'm only 5'2" and I've never felt him in my ribs. He's been low the whole pregnancy.

  • I've carried all my babies low. I've never felt them in my ribs. I can remember when my mom was pregnant with my youngest sister and she would try to push her feet out of her ribs.

  • My daughter was always high ip in my ribs. This boy has been super low from the start.

  • Funny how babies ride so differently! I have just seen so many rib complaints I was feeling like a bit of a freak.

  • Okay I have a stupid question - not on parenting but sex after you're given the all clear.  Will boob play during sex cause leaking?  Obviously sucking would cause the boob doesn't know the difference between hub and baby, but if he plays with them will they leak?
    Pregnancy Ticker

  • @LauraPCOS It can happen. It hasn't happened to me personally, but some of my parent friends told me stories about it happening to them. They just thought it was funny though.
  • Yep, leaky boobs during sex can absolutely happen.

  • I feel his hiccups in my butt area too, but if I put my hand on (what I assume is) his butt up near my ribs, it's a 50/50 shot if I can feel them from the outside. Doc said she is pretty sure he is head down right now. Now I need him to stay that way. And to drop lol.

  • Early on (like first 2-3 months) orgasm sometimes made my boobs leak. Weirdness.
  • @Kaytee1087 Sometimes my whole belly shakes when baby has hiccups. Must be the intensity of them. At my last ultrasound she had them and her whole body was shaking, poor girl!

  • Do babies get hiccups on the outside as much as they do on the inside? This guy gets them at least 2-3 times a day!

I don't remember DD having them as often on the outside. I think because we burp them and can help bounce out the gas bubbles.
