Re: WTF Wednesday

  • I'm trying to hire for two positions at work and the people I'm dealing with are so lazy. I had several people ask me questions when the answer was clearly in the ad.

  • The Maintenance crew is finally painting my back office after having the paint for over 2 weeks. Of course today my nose is extra sensitive and it's annoying me. I'm thinking about calling my boss and asking to go home early. These paint fumes can't be good for me.
  • @alexxapplepiee its NOT good for you at all. its one of the tops to avoid actually. You should go home.

  • @mrsyimster I called my boss and she told me to take little breaks and walk around. She doesn't understand that walking is annoying too. This is the same boss who thinks I'm going to work right up until I give birth since she did it with her 3 kids over 20 years ago. I call her Dragon Lady.
  • One of my best friends is dating a guy who is an emotional and verbal abuser....and she doesn't want to leave him, even though a great guy has come into her life and told her he was interested in her...WTF!

ARE U SERIOUS!!! my doctors, both of them, told me I can not smell paint fumes. And if there is paint fumes around it should be super super vented out for a few hours before I go back into the room. It has to be to the point where I can barely smell it with my super human nose. (hubby painted our master bedroom a few weeks ago, so we asked).

Can you take a sick day and tell her ure feeling terrible? can you open a window?

I work in a gambling facility where we have live Jai-Alai matches. Not sure if you know anything about it but we have NO windows anywhere. We have the front doors with windows and that's it. Ever since I told her I am pregnant she has been loading me up with extra BS everyday. Today I have new hire stuff plus training for the Food & Beverage departments new computers. I'm human resource manager so I don't exactly know why I need to even do that. The CFO is coming up today and I'm going to tell him that I'll go do my work in the security office if it gets me away from this crap. I'm only staying because the insurance is amazing.

Meh, he's a douche too. I've worked here for 7 years because my Mom has been a manager since I was born pretty much. We went through a new owner change and everything went to crap right after. DH wanted me to quit this job months ago and I gotta say I'm happy I didn't LOL.

I have a friend, one of the sweetest girls, on FB that quit teaching to be a BB coach, and she's doing great. But some of her comments on her posts trying to convince people to become coaches are like, "I know some people can leave their babies at 8 weeks and go back to work, but that's not what I want." and it stings every time? I do enjoy my work, but honestly DH is getting his PhD and it's essential I work. I know she means well but every time I'm just...

Mlm people that have "seen the light" are the WORST. THE. WORST. I hate her for you.

Thank you <3 these two are kicking my butt this week. Nausea and energy have been so much worse. The whole second trimester thing is crap. This sucks.
  • @alexxapplepiee mentally throat punching your boss for you.
I have a feeling when I quit, I will want to literally do that.
  • 2 people at work have commented on my "disappearing bump". Not the best thing to say to someone who experienced a prior last loss, especially when I don't have any symptoms and my bump is the only reassuring thing to let me know I'm pregnant. I wish people would just leave their comments on pregnant women in their head.
  • @mcdonald-bailey People are not only insensitive but stupid! Some days I look 5 months pregnant and others I look like I had a big lunch. It varies so much until the end, at least for me. If possible, tune them out and remind yourself that they clearly know nothing about pregnancy.
  • last night we were at a local market and my 5YO and his friend were dancing and being sillly where the live music is. My son fell and then got back up when a (very drunk/cognitively impaired) man came up from behind him and picked him up. I've never ran so fast or jumped so high (literally over a person) to grab him out of my arms. when we got back to where group was, which wasn't far away, everyone acted like I overreacted.

now i'm dealing with round ligament pain at work and my son was up all night asking why that man grabbed him.

WTAF. it didn't even seem like real life!
  • @kennas88 not overreacting IMO. I wouldn't want any random person picking up my child, let alone a drunk one.

My WTF goes out to my toddler. I let her pick out her shoes this morning (purple). I put said shoes on, she has a major fit when they are on her feet because she doesn't want to wear those shoes, she wants the blue ones. I just can't win. Everything ends up in a major tantrum these days.

  • I have one today! Around 1AM this morning, I was abruptly woken up by DH frantically standing up on our bed and grabbing the headboard with both outstretched hands. As any person who's torn out of REM to behold such a jaw-dropping sight, I went, "WTAF?"
He shouted back, "They're about to tow us away! The truck is coming!" At that, he slowly began coming to, after I exclaimed back, "WHAT are you talking about??"
He laid back down, and I promptly told him, "You need to go to a sleep clinic. You can't do this when I'm super pregnant or when we have an infant in here! What if you'd stepped on me?"

This morning, he was really embarrassed. He's done things in his sleep before, and it's always harmless things like trying to find something under the bed or organizing pillows into a basket, thinking he's packing for a trip. When he has nightmares, he'll whimper aloud and cries if there's been a tragedy in his dream. It's kind of cute, but I do think he needs to go to a sleep clinic before the baby comes. I'm not fearful for anyone's safety, but a new baby is going to be stressful and make us severely sleep deprived. I think he might benefit from professional intervention..

    HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA

my hubby side throat punched me once in his sleep. I woke up gasping for air. and I was SUPPPPPPPPER pissed. I still hold on to this every day!!!!!

  • @dubcompanion I do agree ur DH should go to a sleep clinic or talk about ways yall can prevent it or wake him up. but I am finding ur post really funny <3 bc it reminds me of mine!!! he doesn't do stuff though, and is almost always able to wake up. Once he was screaming for me to "turn left turn left!" I woke up going. WTF?!!!!!!!!!

@mrsyimster Oh my gosh, how terrifying about the throat punch! DH's sister talks in her sleep and she's been known to say hilarious things similarly to your husband. :) I had a dream once that a vicious raccoon was in the bed and trying to bite my toes. In my dream (and in real life) I reached over and smacked the raccoon hard. It was my cat. :( I felt SO BAD! He quickly forgave me but I felt like a terrible person for days!!

ETA - And my cat wasn't doing anything to me. He was just an innocent victim in the wrong place at the wrong time!
  • @dubcompanion oh poor kitty!!!!!! "but why mom?!!!!!" lol

  • Can I WTF my DH??? Had my NT scan yesterday, I took their late night so that he could be there after work, he ended up getting stuck working OT and couldn't make it, so it was just me and DD, I tried calling/texting him during the afternoon, no response, he texts me after 8pm that he's on his way home, asks nothing about the appt, then asks what's for dinner...um Nothing, I wasn't home...he gets home, and as I'm about to show him all the pics etc from the visit, he said he needed to use the "bathroom" which is guy-code for I'll be in there for an hour, so I ended up just going to bed...I wish he was as into this as I am, and I know he was exhausted, working over 12 hour days, but It'd be nice to just be asked how i'm feeling, etc....sorry...end of rant...LOL

  • @MrsNap_515 I'm sorry your DH is not being very supportive.  My DH can be like that sometimes.  I don't think they are trying to be a-holes but because they are just not as aware or involved with the pregnancy they end up looking like jerks sometimes.  I hope he realizes his mistake and apologizes.

  • @ShaunaT25 Yeah, your mom shouldn't have disclosed anything, but she could have felt put on the spot. I'm sorry though that your new workplace is not taking the news well.... or in a legally appropriate manner  :/

@mrsnap_515 Men can definitely be self-absorbed at times. My DH has gotten better at that over time (not sure which argument helped him improve, #426 or 528 ;)). I'd talk things out with him and let him know what is important to you and should be important for both of you, regardless of how tired he is.
I did have to laugh at the "guy code" business about going to the bathroom! I always thought that was just my own DH's quirk until I started hearing similar stories from other women. That's hilarious that it's a general man thing!
