I have a monkey child. She likes to climb on everything, her favorite thing right now being the kitchen table. We've tried everything with the exception of moving the chairs out of the kitchen entirely (timeout, redirection, etc). She's almost 16 months old. Daycare is also concerned as she climbs the little table there as well as onto the windowsills (they are fairly low, but wide enough to sit on).
She's fallen several times at Daycare, and we're just waiting for a broken arm or some sort of nasty gash to the head if we don't catch her in time at home.
Anyone have any ideas on how to get her to stop? Thanks for your help!
Re: How to deal with a climber??
On the surfaces that you can use double sided tape. Logan hated being sticky but loved to climb on my 100 year old hope chest. So I would used double sided tape or velco. He hated that too.
That's certainly something I hadn't thought of! Velcro seems to be a favorite of hers too...she takes off her shoes and like to chew on the velcro. I think it must feel good on sore teething gums.
